Beautiful piece. I prefer it with more rubato and velocity variation in the left hand. Everyone tells me, "Satie is not Chopin." But that is just how I play the piece.
It's amazing how we all have our own interpretation and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Good taste in music and good playing! It sounds nice regardless.
I liked how slowly you played this, most people play Satie far too quickly. But then again, here maybe you are missing a certain feeling in your playing, sort of plodding out the notes too much. I know it's hard to get both right. 5 stars anyway!
Tres lent via de Leeuw. Music simply doesn't get more intimate than this. Time stops; the melancholic simplicity embraces; the nurturing repetition--- tres lent---soothes mind, body and spirit.
Very good desciption. It is exactly what you feel when you listen and especially when you play this music. Interesting that you mention de Leeuw. I strongly followed his interpretations as I highly acknowledge them.
I don't know, I think Satie probably had happy points in his life. He was definitely eccentric and not well respected but he had a good "fuck you" attitude.
Very nice. Very nice indeed. I much prefer this pace to some of the other examples floating around out there. I am just starting to learn to play and hope to play like this some day!
I was a bit embarrassed by my recordings, so I deleted them! I will record them again now that I have a better camera and piano to use. Yours is excellent, so I have nothing to teach you. I love those 6 pieces dearly and you are very wise to play them.
This performance is excellent. It takes effort to shade the dark melody with such appropriate dynamics and rubato. You are conservative in style, and absolutely musical.
Most people that I've listened to on here always play it too fast of a tempo. Albeit playing it slower than original, you have marked a great example in how to play this piece. It's not a upbeat song, it's a slow, beautiful, haunting melody... Great job. =]
In my opinion, the fast paced versions of this particular Satie are horrid. I'm not saying the slower the better, but I don't think playing it at a tempo this slow is a bad thing. Which is why I'm leaving your video on in the background as I write my book. Good effort :) x
Playing gnossinnes is like to meditate; they clear your mind. It's topics are deepness, self-discovery and knowledge. They are not a soundtrack for a mysterious action thriller

Yes you are right; I'm French and I know how Satie must be played. It is way TOO SLOW, boring and even quite soulless because he plays everything mezzo-forte. To get the real Satie's feeling you have to listen Aldo CICCOLINI. He's the only one I know able to play Satie right with nuances (absent here), wit and fun when needed.
Then if you want to medidate, it's not the right music! Better sing some Gregorian Chant ;-)
Sorry, but that you are French doesn't predestine you to know how Satie must be played. Of course, our opinions can differ but you shouldn't think that you own the untouchable truth. I prefer interpretations by REINBERT DE LEEUW. By the way, Satie was highly inspired by gregorian music. So it's just my opinion.
I thought it was beautifully played. I play it faster myself but there is a lot of room for interpretation when it comes to Satie. Have a listen to mine if you find the time.
To soft played, sorry.

Thanks for your constructive feedback! Yes, I think it's just natrual that everyone has his own taste in playing. Otherwise it would be boring.

Ich spiele die Vorschläge nur nicht so kurz wie du. Das passt irgendwie nicht zu dem Charakter des Stückes, wirkt zu hektisch.
