  • Hey man...great! Great sound-great groove-and, obviously...an excellent bass!!! 5/5!!!!

  • incredible sound !

  • Yeahh)) Good funky feel, man) and of course, crazzzzy Thumb!

  • You play great, and your Warwick has a wonderful growl! What year was it built?

  • Thanks. It's built in 1998. But it's an early one. I heard, that Warwick changed the wood in 1998. Mine must be one of the old ones.

  • Yeah you are right. I think they started to phase out wenge as as neck wood around 1999/2000. In a transition period they used ovangkol in the necks and wenge fingerboards, then switched to ovangkol necks and ebony fingerboards.

I might be getting a 97' Thumb NT 4 soon myself. I prefer the older Thumb myself, perhaps more because of the feel of wenge necks rather than the sound.

Wenge also looks so good, like fine chocolate!

  • @alexbass78 That's correct Alex. 1998 saw the wenge/bubinga 7 pieve neck changed to a 5 piece ovangkol neck with ekanga veneers. Also the shape of the neck changed from C profile to U profile & a volute added for strength.Post 2009 models saw the return to the C or slim, profile due to popular demand.

You're a really good player btw & you sound excellent. Please join us at the Warwick bass forum if you have time.

    Cheers mate,

    Greg
