  • I have one on each ear. I'm getting surgery to remove the right one because It's gottan infected 4 times in the last month and a half. They happened while I was in the womb. They're genetic and are just the result of something not fusing correctly when we were being formed! They also suck! Lol.

  • My son (8) has one - it used to have just some drainage, but then it got worse - he picked up MRSA from somewhere and ended up with a MRSA filled boil instead of just a cyst - several re-occurrences later, we have appointments lined up to treat the MRSA at the infectious diseases department of a very good children's hospital, and then we're going to surgery... poor kid... :(

  • Thank you for all your comments!

  • i have one on at the top of my right ear it smells so bad it has pus like stuff comes out of it had it all 22yrs of my life.

  • I have on on my right ear. It does get annoying at times but I've lived with it for 16 years now and I'm fine :)

  • my daughter has them on each ear, she's 4 now, never been infected, if I squeeze them, white pus comes out. she inheritied it from my wife who has a small one over one ear.

  • I have one on my right side, though its painless and never bleeds.

Its swollen up 3 times over 10 years, I just pop it and it goes away and doesnt come back for about 3 years.

The stuff that comes out is really nasty and stinky, and nearly made me vomit.

I read that if you get them surgically removed, it can increase the rate at which they recur, and with how harmless they are I just disinfect + squeeze it it fills up.

  • i have one on my left ear.. it is now infected and i'm so worried about it. i consulted almost three doctors but still, even if they did give me the medicines, it did;nt went so well., i think i'll have my operation a week after.. :( pray for me..thanks

  • I have (or had) these holes on both ears. The right one was surgically closed back in '72 when I was 11. The right hole was bigger than the left & every once in a while would itch and leak smelly stuff then scab over until the next episode. I remember being at school & taking the end of my pencil, sticking it in the hole to relieve the itch (not wise). My mom finally took me to an ENT doctor who said there was a cyst there. A couple of weeks later he remove it & no problems since. :-)

  • Does anyone know where the preauricular pit leads to?

  • i have one on my left ear. i've never really had a problem with it until the past few days. it's even started to bleed now.

  • i have them in both ears and i sometimes see visions in my head.its defiantly from God and i can tell its the spirit world.does anyone else get this to i can explain more.

  • @EndIgnoranceb42012 i have them in both ears also and we are on the same page. i had many visions and things of that sort. i always wonder what they met but i think its a gift like a spiritual gift.

  • @jonny12359 I have one abov my right ear, as does my daughter. I also experience the bad smelling fluid that comes out of it. I have found that when my sinus starts to drain my "pit" gets that fluid in it and I can press below the hole and force the fluid out. This usually makes me feel much better. I've also heard it called spirit eye and yes, I too have visions and premonitions that are chillingly accurate.

  • I have two one large other medium. Born with them it leaks and smells awful.

  • My twin sister and I both have this hole on our ears. She has it on both sides, and I only have it on my right side. She was born with it. but I wasn't. One day I guess it just came out. My hole on my ear doesn't really leak much, but my sister's does. When it does leak it's embarrasing, because sometimes people who i'm sitting next to smell it and say " Eeew what's that smell?!" I want to get rid of it, but I am to afraid to get the surgery for it. Its nice to know that other ppl have this too.

  • @28renesmee Me and my twin sister also have them. I have two, and she has one. Ive had both of my tracts removed though because of infection. She's never had a problem.

  • I have one on each ear, I'm 13 years old. My mom would always squeeze the pus out of it when I was little. Now, nothing happens it's just there but I think I have a sinus problem, when I swallow I something happens, I can't explain it though. That doesn't occur all the time though, usually when I have a cold.

  • @tfoston

My daughters test went very well! No surgery needed. We just went to the Health store and boost up her immune sytem and all is well now! I've never had a problem knock on wood!

  • I have one on both ear! :O

  • I have 2 and it gets itchy not infected

  • Most of my family have them on various ears mine is on my right ear but my nephew has two and his right ear one gets pussy and kinda smelly didnt know what they where so i googled it tonight.

  • Did your daughter get this taken care of? My 8 year old is going in tomrw for a pit excision.. I was surprised to find a video online that showed the procedure... I was looking at articles, and it says that it's mainly in Asians and Blacks (we're Asian) and hereditary- but no one we can think of in our families have it!! Plus, that they're norm in the right ear- which is the one he's getting taken care of tomrw! (He's got them in both) Hope your daughter is well now!

  • I have one in each ear too!!! I'm a guy and I'm 16 can I put a Piercing there?

  • @reilioperking No, You can't, and please don't stick a earring in the whole, it can get infected. swollen and painful.

  • yes, ... i am 27yrs old and i was born with that hole right next to my right ear. My pit hole has never been infected, except for once, only because i took the back part of my earring and sticked it into the hole - with out even cleaning the earring first. Sometimes, very rarely the hole will leak fluid, very clear fluid and it stinks!! ... Sometimes the hole itches on the inside, that was the entire reason for me sticking the earring inside of it.

  • My sister has one on each ear right above the bridge. I think you inherit it from genetics.

  • @quikflow I believe your right! I have one on one ear, and my daughter has one on each ear. Thank you for your comment.

  • Hi, I have this same problem (one on each ear) and so does my mother. I recently went to the doctors after yet another infection and they reffered me to the hospital who then hastily removed the one on my left ear as it had grown significantly within my head in the 22 years i had it. The other one has caused no issue however. I hope your daughter gets hers sorted out ok.

  • Thank you for your comment! I think that is so very interesting that you share the Preauricular pit/cyst with two other members of your immediate family! I've heard it said people with this hole are very intelligent! LOL. After seeing some of your videos, I agree!
