Most of mine are 80% or 90%, and a couple go over 100%. All they were were lower case letters, numbers, and dashes. If you know how to make a good password it's really simple. Take 2 words, toss some letters for numbers, (You've seen it before.) and put a dash between. Not difficult. Just for kicks I'll make a few now.

They use inaccurate methods of password verification only based on a human mind trying to guess. Hackers don't do that.

I have dabbled in password cracking, and I have, therefore, insight on the methods. There are 2 basic methods, dictionary and brute force. Dictionary basically runs a dictionary filled with words through and tries them all. Brute force does every combination like aaa aab aac and so on.

There's one thing that this software does not use in it's calculation. Some passwords might be really hard to guess but still, if you see someone type it from about 3 to 5 meters you're able to guess it. For example : 12e#$T67 will get 100% when all the char is pretty close to each other (using Canadian French CSA input method) and yet, very simple (12e then shift + 45t then 67).

So, it's not because you get a 100% that your password can be used in public ;-)

while that will be hard for others to replicate, it would also be hard for you/anyone to remember and if you have to write it down then that is a weakness in the password itself. Also most users would not be happy to remember an 18 letter password.

Generally if the information is important enough that strong a password is unnecessary since either logins per minute/hour/day may be limited or multiple failed logins will lock your account.
