  • brilliant tribute artist!

  • Carol Burnett can really belt

  • thank you soooo much for uploading these I haven't seen Jim in years he was or is a great proformer not sure if he is still with us, love him anyway, thank you thank you thank you

  • Jim is a delight!! Funny and witty to a fault!

  • I'm not familiar with this Jim but he is a great impersonator! Love Babs all the way! Did Jim ever sing STONEY END by Babs? I love that song!

  • Where did good television go?

Simple - it migrated to the computer. Good performance is timeless! Now it will live forever.

  • Hes really good at impersonating her!!

  • aint that what i said??

    suuuper star!!

    classic act!!! carol..

  • love this carol..

    pure classic..

    happy days is here again

  • Carol looks stunned when she starts singing. Very cool.

  • Wow, if he is actually singing he is amazing!

  • @KimLouise1986 - he is singing! that is what was so amazing about him! he used his own voice for all his impersonations!

  • I thought this was from Feb. 1, 1971.

  • Jim was a class unto himself!

  • @LawayneWilliamson Well the Divas that are alive (most of them) still sing. yes? no?

  • this guy not only looks like em he sings like em. what ever happened to him.?

  • It's so funny. At 1:42 you can hear a woman in the audience go, "That was good!!" I can't blame her for being surprised though. I don't think there is another person out there who can do this.

  • It just occurred to me-Jim should have a DVD out of his greatest performances! I know I'd buy it.

  • so rude thats not how barbra streisand is at all....:(

  • @Merylrox23 honey, that's the point. he's spoofing her. like the naked gun and scary movie movies.

  • @leftiesrox OH OK THANKS....

    ;)

  • One of the true pioneers who performed on many tv shows..bravo Jim ! ty Constance for sharing !!!

  • the gays LOVE carol. they KNOW talent.

  • her voice just the same like barbra streisand

  • I dont think it has a thing to do with gayness per se. Jim is amazing and Carol got a lot of mileage comedically off this number.. yet Jim rocked it out.. oh, variety shows of the seventies.. didnt we love them!

  • He does Barbra better than Barbra!

  • i never knew that carol's audience was very gay-oriented !

  • Huh?

  • @cristoforoantonio It's not that, it's that everyone loves Carol Burnett. Everyone with good taste, that is.

  • I wonder what Barbra thinks about this lovely impersonator.

Ahahaha, I am a HUGE Barbra fan && I think he did fabulous.

Normally people like to make fun of Barbra but this was nice making fun of.

    Ahahaha

  • "When Streisand hosted that private party in Malibu, she promised her guests that she would sing. Everyone was there: Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, Carol Burnett, Clint Eastwood, Warren Beatty. After dinner, it was Bailey who performed, and only when he was accepting his final ovation did the real Babs come out to greet him. 'Afterwards,' Bailey recalls, Warren Beatty told me, 'I was completely taken in. Completely.'"

  • Holy shit can you say TRIPPY?

  • is that really him singing?

he is mad good if it is!

  • Wow, he's good!

  • I Love it. Great singing.

  • Nice to see how he's updated his Babs.

  • This is HIS voice? Truly amazing.

  • Yes. I heard him live in San Francisco. The first half was as Judy Garland and the second half was as Barbara. It is amazing enough that he can do one of these voices convincingly, but to do both is even more amazing.

  • ...and yet all these years later, Rosie's variety show lasts all of one episode. Not because we are less accepting of the gay/transgender lifestyle, but we are intolerant of bad variety shows. Carol never gave us a single one. God bless her.

(As a total aside, BTW, the spellchecker underlines transgender. Apparently Google/YouTube doesn't recognize the word. I feel a little better that it also underlined YouTube. What website doesn't recognize its own name in spellcheck?)

  • Whoa. He's SCARY good.

  • re-reading, may have misunderstood; isn't "be accepted by" the definition of cross over?

  • ohhhhh...it never occured to me back then that he was "straight," so his "claim" was wasted on me :-) I guess the first out TV crossover was....hmmm...RuPaul? Or am I missing others in between (big gap)...

  • I meant Jim Bailey. Perhaps I shouldn't have used the pronoun "she.";-)

  • OMG I Love It!!! LOL

  • Jim Bailey's Barbra is so good, it's scary.

  • is that jim bailey actually singing?? or is that a recording

  • Yes it is him singing he's the first Crosser/Drag Queen to make it big. To go on Carol Bernett in 72 was a big leap for her and him she could have been cancled for it in the 70's

  • ha thanks. well that is SOME talent.

  • great video

  • Ellen should have Jim Bailey as a guest!

  • She's incredible...the first tv superstar impersonator to cross over to a straight audience. Such a gifted mimic, comic, and singer to boot.

  • Such wonderful memories replayed in this clip.

  • This is really great... love the way it goes from Barbra 1972 to Barbra now.
