There is nothing ugly about her at the start except for the tip of her nose which is masculine in form to an extent that one usually would never see that trait on a woman
She didn't look ugly to me; she just looked real! Great video; keep 'em coming! Can you post the music credits for your videos, as all the music is terrific, and I'd like to hear (and buy) more. Thanks... CatherineTodd2 at gmail.
is that a very soft clay? isn´t it drying too fast if it´s water based? and is it so easy to get smooth surfaces if you use that oil or water or something? is it because it´s so soft? i´m using chavant´s le beau touché HM and its not very smooth actually.
@devoughnquerubin The clay used in this demo is a low-fire, white earthenware but any water-based clay would be good for sculpting if you are not planning to fire it.
I noticed that many sculptors do this to the eyes.. The iris is.. concave.. Is their a reason? I'm a polymer clay artist, or trying to be... lol would love to meet you, hear your thoughts.. The workz! lol ~~Tom
This is actually a technique adopted from the Greeks / Romans. It is a little easier to sculpt and gives the eyes much more depth than you could achieve by making the eyes convex.
@thestarstwinklebrite Wow.. thanks for taking the time to let me know that.. I give try this one day, thanks! Have you seen some of the stuff I made? I don't do people though.. not yet anyways. =D
I cannot help but wonder if any plastic surgeons use similar methods of sculpting and modeling to examine the possibilities with a real face. Starting with a cast of the client's face to make a life sized pushmold, a clay model could be pressed to allow for both additive and subtractive processes during the "pre-visualization." Do you think such artistic care and planning could help prevent the sort of "overworking" and unrealistic results often seen in plastic surgery?
Step 1: Rip face off
Step 2: Apply new face
Done.

1:17 is way more beautiful than the final product. Nevertheless your work is astonishing to say the least.

@TheBroodingTom gives it an illusion of depth, darkness, from the shadow created, gives it life.
