it was crazy being less than 30 yards away from the fireworks...my mom helped tyler and we were again less than 20 yards away from him when he was hit. It was devistating...although i wish someone would've timed me, i probably ran about a 4 flat for how fast i was running away from the exploding missiles.

The funny thing is that Palmyra is having their 200th and some anniversary next year and are going to have the SAME firework producers do the fireworks for the anniversary and no one except for maybe a few are protesting. The EXACT same thing happened to me at a Phish concert. Some stupid Hippie started shooting fireworks at me. He admitted to me later that he was high on Acid. We laughed for a minute, then I kicked him in his Nut Sack, punched him in the face, flashed my "Doogin" to his girlfriend and had sex with her. Stupid Fireworks...stupid Hippies!

The closest I have been to a fireworks is probably 100-200 yards away and it still seems like they are right next to you. @Bassfanatic94 Try shooting displays. You get just a little bit closer than that. This appears to be a malfunction with NO criminal intent. The legal limits for audience distance is 70' for each inch inside diameter of the largest mortar. If the crowd was within this distance then someone was not doing their job. Either the fireworks co. or the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction/fire marshal) who has the final say before a display is allowed to proceed can increase this distance if needed.

Companies should have extremely huge safety standards, and they really need to keep whatever they do as safe as possible.. There's a huge difference between somebody who sets these off, vs. a large Pyrotechnic Company with trained professionals.
