Another method for the drop D tuning would be to tune the second fret on the E string to standard. At least that's the way I find easiest.

Relax! He spent 1:30 seconds talking about the drop D tuning. From 20 seconds to 1:50. Heres 2 tips for you:

1) Slide the time bar to the 1:50 mark. That way you dont have to watch him talk about the tuning of the guitar. Its almost 2012. I figured by now that everyone in the world would know how to fast forward a Youtube video.....clearly I was wrong.

2) Dont go to a "beginner" guitar lesson if ur such a pro. Its stated in the title of the video that this is for beginners!

He's actually playing it rather wrong. The part where Layne goes, "AHH!" is actually a quick bend on the G and B strings. I'm not sure which fret, but it's in there for sure. Also, in the verse, it's a D major chord before the 1, 2 & 3 bar chords. As well, this song is played in D flat, not just regular D.

Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. Alice in Chains & Nirvana always played in flat tunings. It's heavier and meaner sounding.
