and even with the smaller weights it helps when you just explode and quickly get back down under the bar without a donkey jump - you can lift way more using this technique. try it out, seriously.
the trainer that worked with me at my O-section told me that its a bad habit when one teaches himself to jump like a "retarded donkey" during the each attempt wasting lots of power in a jumping process, rather than doing it effectively.
@therealjeffspicoli you know, coaches usually tell the beginners to jump to teach them explosive strength and stuff, but it is not required and not even possible during the later stages. it will , of course, look like an attempt to jump but mostly your feet will remain on the ground.
@xghoulx your feet will leave the ground slightly. true its not required, but why wouldnt you, since it's more intense and allows you to lift more weight?
@therealjeffspicoli because it make this lift harder.when you jump it means that the weight is too light for your current capabilities. in the more advanced stage when the weight is getting heavier you will have to come under the bar immidiately after the explosive moment, jumping here makes it lots harder. the thing that occurs is called triple extension of the hips, knees and ankles and heels should come off the ground but the tiptoes will more likely "crawl" on the floor dragged by the heels.
Haha not bad for a bodybuilder. That look he gave at :33-34 was hysterical. Are you sure his feet is supposed to be glued to the ground like that? Aren't you supposed to jump with the weight? He looked liked he was performing calve raises. All-in-all good series, especially the rows, I've been performing them wrong.
@wantmybeats I get your guys point about not having to jump on lighter weights. BTW this is still wantmybeats (formerly wanttobestronger- same person).
breath man. This dude got serious problem with that.

Why is he not jumping? Power clean is an explosive lift. I don't see him exploding...

@therealjeffspicoli he's a body builder not a power lifter. give the dude a couple of months, i'm sure he'll have the technique down.
