Remember to land before you can say Toncontin -if you say Tegucigalpa you probably overran the runway and hit the mountain-cool airport....

I'm afraid of flying but it fascinates me @ the same time. I get nervous & excited everytime I fly. I wouldn't go to Honduras by plane though just bcoz I'll be too horrified of the landing & take off!

Well, I've been flying for over 30 years. I landed the F-4's on Carriers in Nam, and I do not really fly to Tegucigalpa anymore because when I flew to Tegucigalpa, I was based in Miami(where we fly to Tegucigalpa from), and now I am based in Los Angeles which is nice because I'm sticking to mostly 757s in North America and Hawaii. I'm getting more time on the 767 also. No more Tegucigalpa for me! I got used to the landing pretty quick, and I usually make my FO land it! What airline do you flyfor

An Airbus crashed here at Tegucigalpa,killing four ,(Friday May 30th),it overshot the runway.

well I as first officer , would never submit my passengers to such a precarious landing..

I fly rc airplanes and wouldn't want my plane to crash and that would only be a loss of, 400 bucks,,not 400 lives..

The one that crashed today was an Airbus 320,TACA air.Pilot died and three others.

It looks dangerous, but as a pilot who has landed there, it is not half as difficult as it looks, and we are not crazy saying that American Airlines has never had a crash there. It can be very scary for a non frequent flyer, however.

Well, I travel alot, and while there are excellent pilots from EVERY part of the world, I have noticed that even many foreign airlines seek out American crews. Many of the US pilots I've visited with when in airports abroad have extensive military flying experience in everything from naval/airforce fighter planes, to c-5's, and stategic bombers. Lots of experience in the cockpit I suppose. Peace/respect to all here.

I made this landing on an AA 757 just like the video. There was a Honduran lady next to me who was furiously crossing herself and praying as we came in. I was far more frightened of the bus ride that followed than I was of the flight. I agree that takeoff is an interesting experience as well. Engines go to full power while the pilot stands on the brakes and then whooooosh! A 757 is the biggest plane to land there.

Landing on this airport is insane. Frightening and thrilling at the same time. The takeoffs are pretty cool to. Brakes in, engines on max thrust, release brakes, and swosch...

Congratulation to the foreign Pilots!, I am Honduran, and I know how dangerous and scary our airport's runway is!! Landing in Tegucigalpa is a challenge, but thanks God, so far everything has been o.k.

Our honduran Pilots, has lots of experience and I'm very proud of them.
