@petrol247 is the device fully rooted? If the device doesn't have system level root access, you won't be able to modify the build.prop.

@Trafikucante Well it appears you have a Gpad M7206 tablet. I am not familiar with this one and unaware of any "related/identical" siblings. You can try my root script to see if it will grant ROOT access for the device, after that you can try changing the market key. You can find my ROOT script on the MID816 forums on SlateDroid.

@Trafikucante well... it is best to probably take this conversation to private messages... but a good place to start in identification... is the screen size and any other relevant information you can find about processor, ram, etc... a picture is always helpful as well along with what physical buttons and where.

@silentswan12 you may need to check your wireless settings/connection. You might also try clearing the cache and data... then rebooting.

@sora1axel1lovr Go to the SlateDroid forums for the C8. You will find a sub-forum for C8 Firmware Development. In there you will find some custom ROMS/Firmwares. Please note that most of them will wipe the system of personal settings and apps.

@MrTasselhof That's where I just went to look. Alot of them said they bricked their herotabs. I don't care much about whiping the system because I don't have much on it but could you possibly find a reliable rom on there for me? I only found one that said it was rooted and like I said it bricked the system.

Hi, I bought an Ainol Novo 7 Advanced from merimobiles, and rooted it. I have RootExplorer, but it doesn't seem to work properly, so I tried using a few other text editors, but everytime I go to save it, it says it's not allowed.

Do you know how I could possibly make RootExplorer work,

or, do you know how I can allow another text editor to allow me to save the changes?

after I changed the fingerprint and looked back into build.prop after the reboot, I saw that it changed back to the original fingerprint... I am sure I saved before I left the editor... I use a Flytouch 3 by the way... Any ideas?

@Dieliewielie are you sure that you are rooted and able to edit the build prop? sometimes a system will be partially rooted, but still unable to modify the build.prop. there could also be a protective script in the firmware that replaces the build prop with a stock one after reboot.

@paulthesailer You can try searching Google for Android Market APK. You should be able to find an installation file out there... some of them allow you to run it from within the tablet to install like a normal program... others have to be pushed on to the device using the ADB commands.

hi, the only apps i can access are on appslib... root explorer is not one of the files available. i download and use one called OI file manager. it was with this that i was able to find build prop, but get no farther. as above.

also tried inKa file manager. this says when clicking on build.prop"no application available to open this file".

when clicking on Build prob with either file manager, there are no options at all.

@paulthesailer what model tablet are you using? Does it have the Android Market? Is the device ROOTED? You may try using ES File Explorer, but you will have to go in to the settings and enable system (root) level access in the app.

@MrTasselhof an Arnova 7c g2. I do not have access to android market at the moment... just a few apps on Arnova's site. I am doing this in order to get access to the full android market. I can now edit the root.

My tablet is currently using gingerbread 2.3.3 Do i need to replace with the same?

as i understand your video, if i enter the fingerprint of, say the Galaxy tablet (which is 2.3.3 and has access to the android market), then i will be able access market too?? thanks. Paul

@paulthesailer Changing the build.prop market key is only useful if you are using the Google Android Market. If you do not have access to the Market app, then the build.prop key won't actually change anything.

@TheMimicu none of the tablets I have seen come rooted by the manufacturer. It is always done by the end user. I would suggest heading to the forum to find the appropriate thread/article.

@diksbendragen What do you mean? for the tablets? for apps? I didn't pay any taxes on the tablets as they came from China.... If you are asking about customs fees... I also was not charged any of those. They were shipped VIA DHL from Hong Kong and passed through Cincinnati, OH and then on to my doorstep in VA. I am not saying it is guaranteed to be no customs... but so far in the two instances there haven't been any charged.
