  • I clearly stated unbiased, credible research organization

  • LDS is just a CULT, once you accept that you can go and have a life and leave the nonsense far behind.

  • Tell me why my hypothesis could not explain the data.

Lehi's family arrives in the Western Hemisphere.

Laman and Co. leave Nephi and Co.

Laman and Co. interbred with an already existing population who originate from Siberia. As a result of such interbreeding their "skin darkens." This would also explain why there are always significantly MORE Lamanites than Nephites. Any nonNephite could be referred to as a Laminate.

400 AD The Nephites (and all Israelite markers) would be wiped out.

  • @brettbartel Theory Response Pt, 1

If your thoery is true, them BoM is wrong. The "Lamanites" were NOT the PRINCIPLE ancestors of the Amerindians. Your theory also contradicts BoM 2 Nephi: 1 8,9."And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance." If indigenous populations already occupied the land. The land could not be left for an inhiretance.

  • Respond to this video...Theory Response Pt. 2

Your hypothesis also contradicts BoM 1 Nephi 12:20, Heleman 11:20, & Mormon 1:7, as well as the teaching of LDS prophet Spencer Kimball. (The Teachings of Spencer w. Kimball, p.106) Add to those contradictions, the writings of George Q. Cannon. (Gospel Truth p.528.)

This leaves LDS scrambling to keep their "holy scriptures", which LDS CLAIMS to be "the most correct book on the face of the Earth, somewhere in the realm of "plausible".

  • Tommy's comments have done little to dissuade mormons away from their beliefs. However, he claims to have had a lot of success at convincing general Christians that evolutionary science is more correct than creationism. He's still stuck in his Jr. college professor role, and he's still holding to his anti-Christian beliefs.

  • it is impossible to make these kinds of assumptions without taking all things into consideration, and many of those things are unknown to us all. The Book Of Mormon is in a much better place than it was 15 years ago if you want to compare factual and scientific evidences. i remember the elephants that they said didnt exist in the americas and also the sunken cities, those were the proofs against the book of mormon and were disproved years later,

  • @vidarjens references?

  • @streboryesac people see what they want to see. even if you had undisputable evidence right in front of your face, you would still try to disprove it.

  • @vidarjens Bring some "indisputable evidence" to the table, and we'll discuss it. Until then, your hypothetical remains contrary to the facts.

  • @CounterCultureLives i dont have any evidence for you, i mean, sunken cities found off the coast of peru, elephant bones found in south america, several temples and ancient cities found all over mexico and central american highlands, and south america, its indisputable to those who have seen the evidence, however for those who want to dispute these facts. go ahead, im not trying to prove anything to you. people see what they want to see.

  • @vidarjens Central American Evidences, Pt. 1

If it's "indisputable to those who have seen the evidence", then LDS should have no trouble having these "evidences" authenticated by credible, unbiased research organizations, (National Geographic Society, Smithsonian, etal.) or a Central American country's Ministry of Antiquities. Such "evidence" would be an economic bastion for the economies of those countries, and could provide a flood of new converts for LDS.

  • @CounterCultureLives Central American Evidences Pt. 2

Now, if your theories are correct, then former LDS "prophets" from Brigham Young, to Joseph Fielding Smith, to Spencer Kimball have to be wrong. They maintained that the BoM lands were in North America, not Central America or South America. So, if FARMS, FAIRLDS, The Maxwell Institute, and modern day LDS "scholars" are correct, then LDS's past "prophets" were all wrong.

  • @CounterCultureLives and those credible sources are without an agenda? i think not. the Pharisees and Sadducee s had all the answers didnt they? they were perverted to the point to kill their own Savior, Our society today would do the same in a second. The truth is not a popular thing, the prophets were never treated kindly. The people take the truth hard. People see what they want to see.

  • @vidarjens Here's where your thinking is so disorganized. Any Central or South American country that could yield conclusive, scientifically sound evidence would stand much to gain in tourist dollars from religious pilgrimages. Any Non-LDS university or research organization who could do the same would be a prime candidate for receiving endowments and grants for further research, as well as strengthening their own degrees of credibility; thus, they would have much to gain in their endeavors.

  • @vidarjens And these "evidences" you proclaim have been authenticated by unbiased, credible research organizations, I'm sure?? Smithsonian has authenticated them?? Or, National Geographic Society?? What Non-LDS University reviewed these "evidences"?? Or, perhaps a Central American Ministry of antioquities had validated them??

In truth, all that's happened over the past 15yrs. is that LDS Excuses, Inc. have been working overtime trying to explain away BoM's many discrepancies without success.

  • We are talking about proof as it relates specifically to the dick in this video, he is a proven fraud, but as long as he helps your case, you will close your eyes, plug your ears and go with what ever he says. If getting me to accept your truck load of shit as truth, is not your problem, then why are you on here wasting valuable minutes of your life trying to do just that? Evidence collected by disgruntled ex-mormons and short bus riding born again rednecks is not likely to bury me, by the way

  • More empty rhetoric, mullethater!!

You have yet to offer anything of substance to support your claims.

  • Outlaw, you and I have covered this ground already, but we can cover it again. It's pretty basic. I believe in that which cannot be proven. obviously it can be doubted, but not completely disproven. I have never had any interest in wasting my time trying to prove that which cannot be proven. Likewise, accepting someone's subjective interpretation of data always taken out of context and twisted will have no affect on my beliefs. it's as worthles as trying to prove God exists or does not exist.

  • I'm stunned a Mormon would admit to any of this. To do so amounts to heresy and likely excommunication.

Does anyone know what, if anything, happened to this man?

  • Thomas Murphy was threatened with a summons to an LDS "Court of Love". After the press got wind of it, LDS backed down.

  • Yes. Tommy was preparing to become a celebrity by embarking on a martyrdom speaking tour as soon as he was excommunicated. See, he continues to protest that he wants to keep his membership, even though he continually derides the Church as being bigots, pretenders, et al. Unfortunately for Tommy, his Church leaders were told of his speaking tour and decided that excommunication would only fuel his anti-mormon fame. Therefore they postponed his excommunication. He's been stagnating ever since

  • Why do you think Tommy wants to keep his Church membership? It's because his credibility is centered on being LDS. Funny because Tommy has always been an unbeliever. All of his undergraduate and graduate research papers were based on using science to fight against his religion. Yes, he attended church and seminary classes as a youth, but always sneered at his fellow classmates and teachers for believing.

Without his membership, Tommy is just another obsessed antimormon.

  • Well, I don't either of us know what his true feelings are about it, but I know that many have been excommunicated for less than this...

  • That's because he is not a Mormon. He said he was a Mormon Scholar, which is a clever way of making the born again sheeple think they have just hit the jack-pot in bringing down the Mormons. Very subtle, very clever. He should get an Oscar for that performance. "I am a Mormon Scholar" has two different meanings, i.e. I am a Mormon who is a scholar, or in this case, I am a Mormon scholar, i.e. someone who studies Mormonism. You've been hood-winked, and bamboosled!

  • I'm simply taking him and what he said at face value, the same way Mormons take what their church and prophets claim.

  • I thought you born agains thought it is a bad idea to just take someone's word for it! I guess we are not so different after all. You are content to just take his word for it, if it fits your born again agenda. The funny thing is, you all assume that Mormons are walking around in some catatonic daze under the full control of the church leaders. It's such a load of crap. I just decided I didn't want to worship an indescribable, incomprehensible, mass of floating goo that you call God.

  • Hmmm, he clearly says at 2:02 "We as Mormons..."

  • I am well aware that he is some kind of disgruntled psuedo Mormon. My point is, because he states that he is at 2:02, does not mean that he is. The born again nut jobs in here go on endlessly about having proof, but when a guy with no credibility and an obvious bias jumps on here, the born again's nipples get hard and they eat it up like candy, without any the PROOF that they cling so dearly to. if it suits your agenda, you don't really care if it is a lie or not, you'll just run with it.

  • No proof? There's enough evidence to bury you, as a Mormon, no matter how well indoctrinated; getting you to accept it as such isn't my problem.

  • In short, like all prophets, Joseph Smith was full of shit.

  • Tommy has yet to have ANY of his DNA analysis published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. He is not a geneticist, DNA lab researcher, or an accredited source for DNA analysis of any kind. His professional credentials have been described, rather, as "armchair consumer of articles published by others on DNA research". He abuses the science by claiming it to be predictive in areas that are, as of yet, far outside of its capabilities.

  • If he hasn't, doesn't that mean he's in good company with just about every other Mormon scholar? Don't just try to pick apart the guy, pick apart his arguments.... Even without a professional background, he might still have a point.

  • LOL explo. Do you know that Tommy has faught against being excommunicated by his church? He claims that he is still a "believing Mormon". Why don't you consider that "he still might have a point" in this? Why not? It's obvious that you aren't interested in credibility, but only in slander and heresay. Don't let the facts get in the way of your arguments, ok explo... or is it implo?

  • i agree with him. lets challenge it and find out.

  • It has been challenged and the idea of Hebrews in the Americas has been soundly defeated. Oh my...

  • Bryanmonson EXPOSED.

Bryanmonsom is a fake and a fraud--just like Joe Smutt. He has these 4,5,6, "possibilities" he mentioned on other video clips, but has yet to share them. He has plagerized from FARMS/FAIR articles AS IF THEY WERE HIS. Unethical, bryan. My challenge is for you is to write up a rebuttal paper, have it peer-reviewed and published in a scientific journal. Then come back and tell us how learned you are.

  • Three days have gone by now...and STILL no 4,5,6 rebuttals to Murphy's statements. Unlike your religion, bryan, science can change, given new evidence. So. You are in possession of "new" evidence

that will (you say) refute a whole community of geneticists. Lay it on us bro...

  • All Mormons have been deceived.

The only true and restored church is the IGLESIA NI CRISTO, the restored Church of Jesus Christ in these last days.

  • youre a douche

  • Mormons are mostly switched off from reality. I wish more mormons would sit down and discuss the possibility that joseph smith was a con-man who made use of his position to have sex with young girls and married women. This is one fact that mormons cant see eye to eye with. To them it is unthinkable that their beloved prophet would do such a thing. It's only when a defiant mormon becomes inactive or leaves the Morg, like I did, will he accept that mormonism is a man-made made religion.

  • Comical. The gap between this man's reasoning and his conclusions is enormous. 30 seconds after hearing this man's "delema" with Mormonism I thought of 5 or 6 possibilities how these findings could co-exist with LDS theology. Why hadn't this "expert" thought of these? I suspect he has, leading any inteligent mind to recognize that he has an ax to grind. An embarassment to the scientific community.

  • your funny

  • I'm impressed with this man's honest inquiry into the origins of his faith. I'd love to see that kind of integrity and openness in every religious tradition. Are the sponsors of MormonChallenge aware that the Bible, and Christianity in general, has similar historical dilemmas and inconsistencies?

  • For ME, makemerry, you are right re the dilemmas and inconsistencies. I, therefore, have thrown out all organized religion as being representative of Christ and his teachings. I accept God exists and that Jesus had a mission from God for humans. I accept what is obvious to me that there IS a supreme intel. What form that intel takes is irrelevent to me. Christ taught the 1st and 2nd greatest commands or pure love for ourselves and oathers and God.

  • cont) Anything these man-made religions add to that is simply, IMO, distractions and fit only to be ignored. I'm sentient enough to find my own way and don't need other humans telling me what I need to be saved.

  • mormon scholars dont pretend like it doesnt exist, we just know that different tribes have different DNA. we dont say that ALL the native americans are descendants of the lamanites. most probably are though some of the lost tribes. where else would they have gone. and how come they havent done a DNA test to try and prove all native americans came from asia. a lot of things joseph smith supposeldy said were written after he was martyred. JOSEPH SMITH WAS NOT A DECIEVER! HE WAS A PROPHET OF GOD.

  • Then you disagree with Joseph Smith and every other Prophet up to and including Gordon B. They say ALL american Indians AND Polynesians. This LGT BS has just recently popped up as the LDS heirarchy realized the threat DNA was and they scrambled to make up excuses to cover it up so you sheeple wouldn't "lose your faith".

  • youre a douche
