@Kevizzle05 well Balestre joined the Germans in the French SS, so your comparison isn't so far off! Naturally, he later claimed he had been part of the French Resistance...
So: Piquet mocked him, Senna gently slapped him...but I guess we missed the moment where Prost rubbed his nipples and told him what a wonderful and impartial President he is. :P
This is great. I love the genuine fun they had. Today, there would be a $ 1,000,000 fine for something like that... After a six-month investigation... Still, this season (2011) is great racing (still 6 races left)! I have to admit that. I am curious whether Sebastian Vettel, besides winning his second title as a matter of course, will also become the first man ever to finish 19 races in a season. So far, only 18 is the record (shared by Monteiro 2005, Heidfeld 2008, and Massa 2010).
There was no cheating politics by the FI(S)A (Senna mythology) : at Suzuka 89, stewards decided to DQ Senna, NOT Balestre. Just like he didn't "swap" starting-grid positions at Suzuka 90. And say what you want, but he contributed significantly to safety in F1. When Mosley succeed him, F1 became very dangerous... if Balestre was still president in 1994, Senna would still be alive.
@Shogo5000 Balestre ruined WRC by banning Group B cars in 86. They could have made small changes to reduce the threat of fire to those cars. If safety was improved so much, how come De Angelis died in testing, Lafiitte broke his 2 legs in Brand Hatch 86 and Streiff was paralysed in 89. How did Senna get a 6 month ban for the 89 winter if all he did was use the escape road. Balestre was very corrupt. He was a dictator. Watch Senna and Balestre 91 Gp

@Demis121 oh dont worry, he will be. To this day, roland rathzenberger (hope i spelled it right) is remembered as much as senna. Even though he was, as a driver, inferior to ayrton. Nowadays, take Henry Surtees, he was not the best driver ever, but he is not forgotten. Even if it was in formula 2. Drivers who pass away will always be remembered. Because they died, doing what they did best. That goes for senna, and that will go for lewis if he were to die during a race.
No, I'm not saying that Hamilton is the new Senna, but, he was, when I posted this first comment, hailed by the British media as the British Senna, which is sad, because, to me, he is a spotty twit, who isn't fit to tie the great mans racing boots up,

Piquet was hilarious! But an absolute prick also. He got his ass kicked by Mansell, and never stopped talking shit about Nigel. Senna-Prost rivalry was more explosive but much also more classy than Piquet-Mansell bickering.
Piquet was the luckiest multiple champion in the history of motorracing. Reutemann had led almost the entire 1981 season and was on the front row for the final GP. That's when a gearbox malfunction robbed him of a well deserved title and he finished 7'th in a race his team mate Alan Jones won easily. Piquet got 5'th and won the title by a single point.

Hey, from all the brazilians that won the WDC, Piquet was from the "least" rich of them. The fact that Piquet's father was a minister doesnt mean much, specially during the 60's. On those times, brazilian politicians weren't rich. Fittipaldi and Senna had a much easier life on this aspect.
lol Piquet himself says Fittipaldi had the hardest time of them all, he paved the way for brazilian pilots to be highly sucessful in Europe. In his own words, it was easy after Emerson had set the blueprint.
Piquet might have been the least rich of the three, who knows, but he was rich enough.
@kikorayol What is WDC? World Championship? When you say "least" you mean "less"?
Who cares? motor racing is not a sport for poor people. It is a very expensive sport. Show me a poor brazilian pilot these days...even Kart is expensive...
I don't care about their money, i just care about their personality and skills.
@kikorayol Though it makes getting to F1 easier, you still have to use the talent avalible to you to win the WDC.
Most people are convinced that Chelsea or Man City will challenge for the English Premier League, because they are bank rolled by wealthy men, but, they aren't the best team in that respect. Money doesn't buy a team, it buys a chance to build a team, or in F1s case, an opportunity. It's what u do with that that matters
@kikorayol have you gone crazy? it´s not true, nowadays Piquet feels shame when he talks about his father was minister, and he was health´s Minister for about 24 years and politicians brazilian always are thieves so, piquet as rich as ayrton and anothers were.
@flagshot25 No, I haven't gone crazy. If you didn't waste all your time listening to fairy tales about Senna, you would know that what I am saying is true. Piquet was ashamed about his father because he thought, correctly, that politics was a dirty "business". But his father wasn´t rich and also didn't support his career, so Piquet had to start almost from zero. How many politicians got rich in Brazil working during the 60's and 70's? Anyone that knows a little bit of Piquet's history knows that
@kikorayol Exactly what xcruzrr6 said: what's your point? Senna had much easier life, and that helped him to become such a great driver? If so then I guess more rich parents = more talented offspring. ^^
@jonomutiny there is no need to call me a dumbass....if anything you are the dumb ass for trying to be a hard ass on youtube....and i wasn't insulting Senna, he was a great man and a legend racer, and it doesnt matter these days whether you have talent or not, its only matter of money, i should know because im climbing the ladder...its not cheap by no means and my family is about the same wealth as Senna's was. $60,000-$100,000 a year for Formula 2000 or $60,000 a year for Formula 1000.
video fantastico!!!!! grandissimo nelson che ha fatto le corna a balestre. e poi ayrton con il quasi schiaffo all'ex presidente fia....... piloti con i controcoglioni quelli!!!
@Subi, sorry mate, you're completely wrong. Piquet may have had a rich dad, but Piquet''s dad wanted him to be a tennisplayer not a racing driver. Nelson did everything on his own without any suppurt from his family. He startes racing with the name Piket, just to be undercover. He didn't had any money when he arrived in England in '77. He even lived in a VW-van for more than 6 months.
Piquet was the funny guy, he wasn't a bad loser. He was a loner that's all. He managed everything by himself with no money. Senna was the rich-boy. I got much more respect the way Nelson became a F1 star than Senna did. I think Nelson has got more talent than Senna had. Senna was a kid when he started with go-kartHe practiced so much. Piquet was allready 17 years old when he started racing. He did everything on his own.
Sorry man, but you're quite wrong. First of all, in Brazil, to be a F1 driver you NEED to be rich. ALL of the Brazilian pilots were / are from rich families. Massa, Senna, Piquet, Barrichello, Fittipaldi ... no exceptions.
In Piquet's case, he was the most rich off all, his father was a politician (being even minister). And now, he's a much richer man than he was as a driver, he has a truck GPS company (Autotrac), 70% of Brazilian trucks are using his product.
People here just talking without knowing anything. The fight Senna x Piquet started when, in the end of 1987, Senna gave a interview saying that he was not appearing much, to let Piquet appear a bit in the press (he was the 1987 F1 world champion, the first brazilian to be triple world champion). When a journalist told this to Piquet, he just told him to ask Senna if he liked women. So that all started with Senna, and not with Piquet.
Agreed, LazyGun, one has to check the full story first, before starting writing. In this case, none of them stayed well in the picture, it´s not a case of saying one is the "good guy" the other the "bad guy". Piquet cleared reacted in a very excessive way. Senna, probable should have been more careful, it was possibly a joke, but it sounded like he was putting at question Piquet 1987 championship, when Piquet had to struggle hard after his Tamburello crash, where his helmet hited the wall
Piquet called Senna a Brazilian traitor because he had passed him at the Hungaroring while Piquet was still fighting for the championship, but Senna drove to win that race for his team.Piquet was a bad loser as we all know.He also said that Senna didn't like girls and since then there was cold blood between them.
piquet is a fucking asshole!!!! i dont think there ever will be a dreat guy and driver as senna wa,, i miss senna soooo much!!! he was a god in disgiuse i think he was here on earth for a reason... and he acomplished alot in 10 years then people do in a lifetime,,,, peace
it´s a story if growing rivality between both brazilian champions. But what caused the "bad blood" between both happened at the begining of 1988. When asked why he was out of the media news for sometime, Senna said it was to Piquet have some space in media since he was 3 times W. champion, but nobody seemed to like him much... It seems it was onely a joke, but Nelson took it personally , and reacted saying Senna disapeared with the reason of not to explain to the media why he didnt like women.
I remember that, but that was not the first time Piquet spread rumors about Senna. I read in a book that he and Prost paid a chambermaid to watch the door of Senna´s room and check if he was gay, but Senna found out...These guys could not beat him in the track so they just spread rumors like cowards!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
They could not beat him? Man, no one is unbeatable, not even Senna, as good as he surely was. So they had their times when they beated him yes. Be careful of what you read in books... might not be very trueful, cause i never heard of that story even among the brazilian Senna fans. Also dont make things like one is the good guy and the others the bad ones. Senna himself has had bad moves on F1 (veto at Warwick, made Lotus all for him and leaving Angelis alone when Angelis was in front of champ.
Senna was a fan of Piquet's. When he first went to a race where Piquet was in attendance he wanted to get his autograph, but Piquet snubbed him. Senna was annoyed by that and as a result never really liked Piquet from then on. Piquet's opinion on Senna wasn't helped by the fact that Senna was Brazil's new hero, even in 1987 after Piquet won his 3rd title. Then the rumours started coming. It's a pity, because they should have been good friends.
yes it´s a pity indeed. Who knows Piquet could have been in a "bad humour day".
Something similar happened with Massa who one day asked an autograph from Senna, but Senna reacted somewhat in the same way Piquet did to him... and again possibly like Piquet, Senna too could have been in a "bad humour" day.
I believe it's not a question of who is good and bad, but unbeatable or not, it was a act of cowards to spread such rumors. Senna was not an angel I know about the veto to Warwick and other not very good stuff, the difference of the Senna fans to the orther driver's fans is that we are aware of his misdeeds and we like him just the way he was, you see? It's uncoditional.
And so? Im a fan of Piquet and im pretty aware of his not "angel" actions and words sometimes. Don try to pull one drivers fans in the same bag, like i dont put Senna fans in the same way.
Piquet was indeed a coward, an intelligent, loveable rogue of a man and driver, who arguably didn't have the raw pace for three world championships, but arguably had the cunning and heart for five. I liked Nelson Piquet. He was more light hearted and down-to-earth than these "intense" drivers, like Senna (who I also like, but not as much - too much intensity dehumanizes sportsmen).
Can you imagine the modern day equivilance? Lewis Hamilton slapping Max Mosley at Monza, had he won? The differance is, of course, that Max would have enjoyed it..........
@Demis121 then don't say that hamilton is the modern day equivalent of Senna. One was a God given talent like rarely is found and the other is a wanna be spoiled cry baby.

Hey, from all the brazilians that won the WDC, Piquet was from the "least" rich of them. The fact that Piquet's father was a minister doesnt mean much, specially during the 60's. On those times, brazilian politicians weren't rich. Fittipaldi and Senna had a much easier life on this aspect.
kikorayol 2 years ago 20
lol Piquet himself says Fittipaldi had the hardest time of them all, he paved the way for brazilian pilots to be highly sucessful in Europe. In his own words, it was easy after Emerson had set the blueprint.
Piquet might have been the least rich of the three, who knows, but he was rich enough.
evangelistabjj 1 year ago
@kikorayol What is WDC? World Championship? When you say "least" you mean "less"?
Who cares? motor racing is not a sport for poor people. It is a very expensive sport. Show me a poor brazilian pilot these days...even Kart is expensive...
I don't care about their money, i just care about their personality and skills.
silentman2006 1 year ago
@kikorayol piquet was mechanic and he used one clients car to run a race xD im minas gerais state of brasil in his teenage
wesleysidney 1 year ago
@kikorayol Though it makes getting to F1 easier, you still have to use the talent avalible to you to win the WDC.
Most people are convinced that Chelsea or Man City will challenge for the English Premier League, because they are bank rolled by wealthy men, but, they aren't the best team in that respect. Money doesn't buy a team, it buys a chance to build a team, or in F1s case, an opportunity. It's what u do with that that matters
Demis121 8 months ago
@kikorayol have you gone crazy? it´s not true, nowadays Piquet feels shame when he talks about his father was minister, and he was health´s Minister for about 24 years and politicians brazilian always are thieves so, piquet as rich as ayrton and anothers were.
flagshot25 8 months ago
@flagshot25 No, I haven't gone crazy. If you didn't waste all your time listening to fairy tales about Senna, you would know that what I am saying is true. Piquet was ashamed about his father because he thought, correctly, that politics was a dirty "business". But his father wasn´t rich and also didn't support his career, so Piquet had to start almost from zero. How many politicians got rich in Brazil working during the 60's and 70's? Anyone that knows a little bit of Piquet's history knows that
kikorayol 8 months ago
@kikorayol The point?...
xcruzrr6 4 months ago
@kikorayol Exactly what xcruzrr6 said: what's your point? Senna had much easier life, and that helped him to become such a great driver? If so then I guess more rich parents = more talented offspring. ^^
thylegion 4 months ago
@thylegion
Its easier to be rich and climb the racing ladder from Karting to Formula 1 then not.
JLGBroadcasting 3 months ago
@JLGBroadcasting Try climbing the ladder and achieving what Senna did without talent, dumbass
jonomutiny 3 months ago 2
@jonomutiny there is no need to call me a dumbass....if anything you are the dumb ass for trying to be a hard ass on youtube....and i wasn't insulting Senna, he was a great man and a legend racer, and it doesnt matter these days whether you have talent or not, its only matter of money, i should know because im climbing the ladder...its not cheap by no means and my family is about the same wealth as Senna's was. $60,000-$100,000 a year for Formula 2000 or $60,000 a year for Formula 1000.
JLGBroadcasting 3 months ago
@JLGBroadcasting good luck on climbing the ladder dude it is impossible to go to f1 and no gives a shit about anything below f2.

biologico69fabio 2 years ago 3
@Subi, sorry mate, you're completely wrong. Piquet may have had a rich dad, but Piquet''s dad wanted him to be a tennisplayer not a racing driver. Nelson did everything on his own without any suppurt from his family. He startes racing with the name Piket, just to be undercover. He didn't had any money when he arrived in England in '77. He even lived in a VW-van for more than 6 months.
cowboybilly666 2 years ago 2
With the name Piket so he can be undercover? Thank God he wasn't a secret agent because he would be even worse than an F1 driver.

DnylF1 2 years ago 4
Piquet was the funny guy, he wasn't a bad loser. He was a loner that's all. He managed everything by himself with no money. Senna was the rich-boy. I got much more respect the way Nelson became a F1 star than Senna did. I think Nelson has got more talent than Senna had. Senna was a kid when he started with go-kartHe practiced so much. Piquet was allready 17 years old when he started racing. He did everything on his own.
cowboybilly666 2 years ago 4
Sorry man, but you're quite wrong. First of all, in Brazil, to be a F1 driver you NEED to be rich. ALL of the Brazilian pilots were / are from rich families. Massa, Senna, Piquet, Barrichello, Fittipaldi ... no exceptions.
In Piquet's case, he was the most rich off all, his father was a politician (being even minister). And now, he's a much richer man than he was as a driver, he has a truck GPS company (Autotrac), 70% of Brazilian trucks are using his product.
Subiromba 2 years ago
People here just talking without knowing anything. The fight Senna x Piquet started when, in the end of 1987, Senna gave a interview saying that he was not appearing much, to let Piquet appear a bit in the press (he was the 1987 F1 world champion, the first brazilian to be triple world champion). When a journalist told this to Piquet, he just told him to ask Senna if he liked women. So that all started with Senna, and not with Piquet.
LazyGun625 2 years ago 2
yeahh that's totally true.
dj7oya 2 years ago
Agreed, LazyGun, one has to check the full story first, before starting writing. In this case, none of them stayed well in the picture, it´s not a case of saying one is the "good guy" the other the "bad guy". Piquet cleared reacted in a very excessive way. Senna, probable should have been more careful, it was possibly a joke, but it sounded like he was putting at question Piquet 1987 championship, when Piquet had to struggle hard after his Tamburello crash, where his helmet hited the wall
Neflite 2 years ago
Piquet called Senna a Brazilian traitor because he had passed him at the Hungaroring while Piquet was still fighting for the championship, but Senna drove to win that race for his team.Piquet was a bad loser as we all know.He also said that Senna didn't like girls and since then there was cold blood between them.

dalebshelton 2 years ago
i agree, and piquet knew that senna had talent, so he started to talk shit to senna but senna responded back on the track !! =)
americanpitbull04 2 years ago 2
it´s a story if growing rivality between both brazilian champions.
Neflite 2 years ago
I remember that, but that was not the first time Piquet spread rumors about Senna. I read in a book that he and Prost paid a chambermaid to watch the door of Senna´s room and check if he was gay, but Senna found out...These guys could not beat him in the track so they just spread rumors like cowards!
1976Yohan 2 years ago 2
This comment has received too many negative votes show
They could not beat him? Man, no one is unbeatable, not even Senna, as good as he surely was. So they had their times when they beated him yes. Be careful of what you read in books... might not be very trueful, cause i never heard of that story even among the brazilian Senna fans. Also dont make things like one is the good guy and the others the bad ones. Senna himself has had bad moves on F1 (veto at Warwick, made Lotus all for him and leaving Angelis alone when Angelis was in front of champ.
Neflite 2 years ago
Senna was a fan of Piquet's. When he first went to a race where Piquet was in attendance he wanted to get his autograph, but Piquet snubbed him. Senna was annoyed by that and as a result never really liked Piquet from then on. Piquet's opinion on Senna wasn't helped by the fact that Senna was Brazil's new hero, even in 1987 after Piquet won his 3rd title. Then the rumours started coming. It's a pity, because they should have been good friends.
Rob130290 2 years ago
yes it´s a pity indeed. Who knows Piquet could have been in a "bad humour day".
Something similar happened with Massa who one day asked an autograph from Senna, but Senna reacted somewhat in the same way Piquet did to him... and again possibly like Piquet, Senna too could have been in a "bad humour" day.
Neflite 2 years ago
You are absolutely right..totally right..
Thank You for the truthful vision of the rel facts...
edlespaul 2 years ago
I believe it's not a question of who is good and bad, but unbeatable or not, it was a act of cowards to spread such rumors. Senna was not an angel I know about the veto to Warwick and other not very good stuff, the difference of the Senna fans to the orther driver's fans is that we are aware of his misdeeds and we like him just the way he was, you see? It's uncoditional.
yanny1203 2 years ago 2
And so? Im a fan of Piquet and im pretty aware of his not "angel" actions and words sometimes. Don try to pull one drivers fans in the same bag, like i dont put Senna fans in the same way.
Neflite 2 years ago
Piquet was indeed a coward, an intelligent, loveable rogue of a man and driver, who arguably didn't have the raw pace for three world championships, but arguably had the cunning and heart for five. I liked Nelson Piquet. He was more light hearted and down-to-earth than these "intense" drivers, like Senna (who I also like, but not as much - too much intensity dehumanizes sportsmen).
