  • You cut out the part with Vicki and Alfred! :(

  • 0:36 I should have played that music full blast when I got my Presidential Pin crying my eyes out in sheer joy.

  • Say what you want about Nolan v. Burton, but this scene is one of, if not the greatest, scene in any comic book film.

  • bad assss

  • Where exactly did Batman get that thing? How did he transport that colossal spotlight to the base of the church, presumably after killing Joker? Was he keeping it in his belt?

  • Glorious is right. Perfect film making

  • Best Batman

  • I hope that Batman 3's ending will be like this :p ! With snow !

  • at the end scene the main theme of batman sound glorious T_T

  • The world's greatest Dective, get's the world's greatest film of all time!!!!!! XD

  • gay

  • @eggs7p dumb

  • It's fortunate that we grew up with and experienced such an awesome Batman movie that will be FOREVER LEGENDARY!

  • In my opinion

    Keaton - Bale better voice

Ledger - Nicholson without the jokers lines the dark knight would have sucked major dick

TDK - 1989 production because of technology

    1989 - TDK Classic Ending

  • @brianelihu Let me get it. For you: (1) Keaton > Bale because he had the better voice: (2) Ledger over Nicholson because of his great lines; (3) TDK over 1989 in production vales due to more modern technology; and (4) 1989 version better than TDK because of the classic ending? If so, I agree with you. But Nicholson was awesome too. And to me, Christian Bale is real overrated as both Bruce Wayne and Batman.

  • Both adaptations are amazing in their own respects. 1989 did amazing with what they had to work with. Technology advanced and so did film making, IE batman begins and the dark knight. Both have my respect.

  • @rickycoma

    " Technology advanced "

The miniatures in this movie look better than that scene in TDK where batman flips the batpod around by driving it up a wall.lol

    it looked awful!

  • Who is the idiot that said the 1989 film's main focus was the villain, whereas nolan's is not? You've actually SEEN the dark knight right? The ENTIRE movie is based around heath ledger and the joker. If he werwnt apart of that movie, it would've been almost as bad as batman and robin. At least keaton never sounded like he had been gargling hot asphalt.

  • @rickycoma LOL! I enjoyed TDK, but even I thought your comment was funny.

  • This is by far one of my favorite movie endings. Tim Burton's Batman movies has one of the best music scores in them. Along side Star Wars.

  • god alexander knox is the most annoying character in the batman universe and in this movie

  • 0:36 this music and the scene gives me goosebumps every time...it's so great

  • I hate looking at the comment section seeing fanboys say over and over again that nolan's batman sucks. We get it. You prefer Burton. But Nolan's batman doesn't suck at all. Both versions are great.

  • @PinheiroIllness85 Nolan fans say the same thing so calm down.

  • @j04370859

Burton's fans say it even more. It's a fact because of the nostalgia value.

  • @AchtungWorld heh yeah :D

  • Danny Elfman needs to stop listening to fanfare for the common man

  • EPIC !

  • @Netlocd Mmmhh... This is my vision:

Bale's Batman: *catarrh voice* I'M BATMAN!!! Criminals: ...Eat my shorts!

Keaton's Batman: ...I'm Batman. Criminals: *piss and shits themselves from fear*

  • @alanchichino Keaton from Batman Returns can kill Bale's Batman everyday/night

  • bad ass ending.

  • 0:26 FUCKING YURT!!!!

  • the person who composed the music for this scene and most of this movie should be commended for a job well done! this scene's music, in particular was simply...magnificent...

  • This was easily the best part of the Burton movies. I'd kill for Nolan to use something like this in TDKR.

  • I just got extreme goosebumps

  • I wonder if Michael Keaton was good friends with Christopher Reeve in real life, were they? because I know they starred together in the movie speechless in the 1990's

  • @nobodysperfect06 im not sure but I know they made an appearance together at some event specializing both Batman and Superman together(since they both played they're roles excellent)

  • IT'S FUNNY THAT BOTH JOKERS MET THEIR END ON THE TOP OF A TALL BUILDING.

  • I will always wonder what a third Batman movie for this series would have been like if Tim Burton had stayed as the director and Michael Keaton had remained as the star playing the lead character. They sure messed this series up getting Joel Schumaker as the new director and having Val Kilmer becoming the replacement star (only to be replaced yet again by George Clooney who obviously did not save the series being the new star after that). I am glad the current series is not making that mistake.

  • Nolan should use this last scene in his trilogy ending...

  • @mfcssantos

Yeah but first Gordon must repair the light.

  • @mfcssantos You've got a point.

I think Nolan should have Batman standing on top of a skyscraper at the break of dawn,

    honoring Harvey Dent's promise.

  • at :35 is epic!

  • Where can I find this song!?!?!?!?!

  • at 0:36 when I hear that score...it just send goosebumps

  • @PaleWolf007 i know :) this is easily one of my favourite movies EVER.

  • my favorite part of the movie

  • this is the best batman endin of all time

  • i wish i could enjoy batman videos without having to read all the argument comments-ledger vs nicholson-burton vs nolan-keaton vs bale.they are all great in their own way.batman was the first attemt, the most classic batman film.batman returns was a dark, gothic movie with tragic villains.batman begins was a fine intoduction to Nolans work and The Dark Knight was,in my opinion,a movie from an other planet.everybody has an opinion but if you want to argue all the time make a page and write there

  • 8 years old id watch this movie rewind the tape and watch it again probably twice a week for a year, the ending always gave me cold chills Batman is a badass!

  • Gordon had to explain the significance of Batman in their lives during The Dark Knight. But with this film, no one has to explain why Batman has to be glorified. At this point in the film, the audience knows who Batman is, and why he feels compelled to do this for the rest of his life. After seeing him fight multiple enemies, nearly lose his love to both villains and his own curse, we feel sympathy for him. The concluding scene, with the bells and Batman watching Gotham, is his final signature.

  • The ultimate ending to ANY film! Thos bell chimes with Batman watching over Gotham is fucking masterful

  • This is the official ending of my childhood :'(

  • Subtle...

  • The first gong - I am vengeance

second gong - I am the night

The third gong - I'm Batman!

  • @gejmer45 that sounded epic

  • @gejmer45 always needs to be a gong in an epic theme!

  • @ClosterphobiA i was just merely stating my opinion as you stated yours. Ours differ, and that is your right. I am sure there are those who would agree with me who perhaps have very little appreciation for media ventures and the works of Hans Zimmer.

  • Poor Michy was completly overshadowed by Nichy!

  • I have to be honest. Seenig this as a kid & growing up with it clearly made this the best batman movie ever. However, I gotta hand it to Nolan, Ledger & Bale for doing such an epic job at making Batman a much more respected & epic character in the "super heros" category. This may be the best batman movie of all time, but The Dark Knight was just pure gold. TDK was movie making at it's best. Not to mention, both movies had a grand collection of music that made each of them that much better.

  • @ClosterphobiA The Dark Knight having a grand collection of music? Ha! Backseat composing at its finest. Nothing grand about it my friend.

  • @gtmunn Thats your opinion & your entitled to it. However, you don't need to express that to me because quite frankly I don't really care =) - My comment was for people who felt the same way about the music, so go express your opinion to someone that seems to relate to it.

  • I still think to this day that Keaton made best Batman but George Clooney my favorite Bruce Wayne but Joker I would hate to have to call that between Nickelson and Ledger

  • @mattsmt20 None of those are even close to the animated Joker, voiced by Mark Hamill. Period.

  • Best Batman!!!!!!

  • Beats TDK in so many ways...

  • i think everyone can agree tht the song in the ending made it one of the best endings in movie history

  • So Batman is indeed triumphant here...He murdered the Joker, which what the joker has been wanting him to do...seduce him into killing..lol what a triumph..

  • @snake2006

So do you dislike the Dark Knight too? Since the major focus was the Joker and Two-Face/Harvey Dent.

  • the Epic factor is off the charts

  • One of the best super hero movies ever.....But Lando at Harvey Dent....that was almost as bad at Michael Clark playing Kingpin in the Daredevil movie!!!

  • So they were goning to make Lando into Two-Face?

  • Batman '89 is the best damn superhero movie

  • i would like to see the dark knight rises end this way, since its the end of that trilogy, and it would be a nice nod to the original batman which is a classic.

  • I love that score at the end

  • So if there weren't any clouds in the sky, would Gotham be fucked?

  • Epic movie ending I love it

  • That slow pan up is epic the entire time.

  • I remember the summer of 1989 when this came out! Honey I shrunk the kids came out during the same time. Me and my grandparents when to the theater to see Honey and instead, I convinced them to see Batman for the third time, lol! This was a great movie for it's time and in my opinion, Keaton is still the very BEST Batman, no question! It's also debatable in regards to who the better Joker is. My god, I can't believe it's been over 20 years! One of the great movies of my childhood!

  • When i saw the batman signal when i was 13, i thaught it was a persons mouth, with fucked up teeth.. no joke!

  • I don't care what people say. The Dark knight is a better movie but Batman(1989) is the greatest Batman movie

  • @snake2006 Nolan fanboy go watch those movies then.

  • @snake2006 Actually batman begins didn't outperform batman89 at the box office and even if it did what does the amount of money it makes have to do with movie being good? You must be a huge fan of transformers revenge of the fallen. Go troll somewhere else you retarded fanboy.

  • @snake2006 It's really funny you don't like it yet you clicked on here don't you have anything better to do. You seem to be a fan of films just because they make alot of money cause you brought up the films success so yeah you must be a fan of transformers.

  • @snake2006 Actually dark knight was more focused on the joker.

  • @j04370859 i think it was also more like focusing on the development of Two-Face

  • Comment removed

  • @Johnlindsey289 a horrible actor that starred in the highest grossing bat-film and has an oscar

    take that HATER

  • @snake2006 Michael Keaton for your information is regarded by many as the best Batman to grace the film screen. Bale was a great Bruce, but BLEW as Batman. Also your second part of your comment is strictly your opinion. I think 89 and Returns was far better than both Begins and Dark Knight. And so fucking what if Dark Knight outperformed 89 in the box office. Just because something sells better doesn't MAKE it better.

Justin Bieber sells better than many other artist, but is he better? NO!!!

  • @TheInstantClassic1

    1) FUCK NO, Keaton sucked as Batman. Adam West did a much better job and that series was a piece of shit.

Bale is better in EVERY regard when it comes to Batman

    2) Dark Knight and Begins are universes and galaxies better than 89 and Returns. They can't even compare. 89 and Returns are good movies but they are absolute shit compared to Begins and DK.

Bieber is a fad that is going to die out by next year. Piss poor comparison.

  • @snake2006 By all means, your last sentence in your comment was the only intelligent remark you made. Honestly you come off as a Nolan fanboy and god knows there is no sense reasoning with the likes of you people because you can't grasp the simple concept of the fact there is no such thing as a perfect movie; even an excellent director like Nolan has flaws with his films.

Whatever. I know for a FACT I got millions of people backing me up when I say 89 and Returns were superior ;)

  • @TheInstantClassic1

And there are millions more that say DK is superior to every comic book film ever made.

  • @snake2006 Whatever helps ya sleep at night binky boy :P

  • @TheInstantClassic1

Atleast I have some degree of taste unlike you and millions of other fucking idiots who wouldn't know that the Burton Films are complete shit compared to the Nolan films.

  • @snake2006 Like I said, whatever helps ya sleep at night binky boy.

  • @TheInstantClassic1

And Like I said, there are idiots like you born every minute. We should have selective breeding in this world, so idiots like you can't exist.

  • @snake2006 LOL you sound like a cookie cutter video game villian. There's a life outside your secluded dark room kiddo; why don't you step outside for once and join the rest of us normal folk.

  • @TheInstantClassic1

Why don't you erase yourself from existance.

  • @snake2006 Sorry kiddo; I won't disappear just because you don't like me. I'm here to stay :D!!!!

  • @snake2006 the Dark Knight was OVERRATED, and how nolan tries to make the film have so much realism it takes away some of the Mysterious Element to the characters and comic,, Tim Burton 1989 batman movie was a much more Dark and Mysterious batman movie, and showed the mysterious element of the characters and comic much better, just like the 90's batman animated serries, and the video game Arkham Asylum, thats the dark mysterious element of batman, and tim burton showed that perfect

  • @JOKAWILD26

Bullshit, Batman should be taken seriously instead of a side character like Burton treated him.

In Dark Knight they focused on the Joker, and Batman's response to it. How he would have to rise to the occasion and be the hero Gotham needs even if he must be known as a criminal to do it.

That is something the Burton films don't have.

  • @snake2006 how was burton's batman not taken seriously ? & burton made batman quiet becouse in the comics, batman doesnt talk much, he is more like a shadow in the night, a stone figure, who is intimidating, & Mysterious,, & tim burton 1989 batman, showed that PERFECTLY,, nolan's batman talks way to much, he talks way more then batman is suppose to , and nolan's batman isnt mysterious, it seems more like a guy in a batman just kicking ass, 89 batman showed joker & batman response to it also tho

  • @JOKAWILD26 Just ignore him. All he's doing is bashing people for having a different opinion than him.

  • @TheInstantClassic1

There is difference of opinions and there are facts. It's that simple.

You Burton fanboys can't accept facts that Begins and Dark Knight beat their movies. Just like future Batman movie will more than likely beat Nolan's films. Circle of life.

  • @JOKAWILD26

Not Mysterious, lets see, in Begins he hides in the shadows and doesn't strike until the time was right when he captured Falcone. He was watching the whole time when the Scarecrow was making the drug deal at the beginning of DK. you don't see him till he grabs the barrel of the gun.

Or when he disappears on Gordon and Dent when they were talking on the roof discussing how they will get Lao back.

So don't give me that shit he talks to much.

  • Comment removed

  • @JOKAWILD26 Actually, I got to admit - Arkham Asylum is better than any of the Batman movies, as it's really close to the source material and makes it look cooler and better than ever.

  • @snake2006 you moron! only kids can take Bale's Batman seriously.

How can you even like a Batman who sounds like a retard. haha

  • @Mercenary78

Funny,I have never had a problem with Bale's Batman voice unlike the rest of the people who mock it.

It fits the character and it's different than his Wayne voice unlike Keaton who used the same voice the whole movie plus treated the film like a joke, just like George Clooney did.

  • @snake2006 How did he treat the character as a joke exactly?

  • @snake2006 Kid... Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are just WAY too realistic for being the best Batman movies. They take themselves WAY too serious. What's realistic about a guy dressing up like a bat to fight crime? Nothing. It's supposed to be unrealistic. Nolan will refuse to have cool villains such as Mr Freeze, Killer Croc, Manbat and Poison Ivy - just because they aren't "realistic". That's retarded. Say what you want - the animated series at least is a lot better than the Nolan movies.

  • @kurvos

I am no kid. I am nearly 30.

The animated series took itself seriously as well or did you forget Mask of the Phantasm.

Yes the animated series was good.

But Begins and Dark Knight are way better than the animated series and better than the Burton movies.

  • @snake2006 They took themselves serious - but they did not try to make it realistic and pretentious. Way better? You wanna know what beats your precious Nolan movies by miles? Batman: Arkham Asylum. Now go back to the Nolan-rock you live under, and try to act like one of your age should, kid. I call you a kid until you act like an adult. Oh, and don't bother to respond. I'm not talking to immature people, if I can pick what I prefer. :P Grow up.

  • @kurvos

Your the one who needs to grow up. Arkham Asylum isn't a movie and thus can't be judged.

The realistic approach was the best way to handle the franchise. It works allot better than the Burton movies where the villians were the focus and little was given to Batman.

If you want to prefer the Burton films, fine, do that. I prefer the Nolan films.

Atleast they are better than the Schumacher films.

  • @snake2006 No way, Batman 1989 and Batman Returns are better films than Nolan's; I liked Burton's direction a whole lot better and loved the overall dark atmosphere of the movies. That and Bale pales (no pun intended) to Keaton as Batman and Nicholson was a lot more enjoyable as the Joker. Also Danny Devito played an amazing Penguin and Michelle Phieffer was mesmerizing as Catwoman.

  • @TheInstantClassic1

Nolan's films are far superior to Burton's.

They look more at Batman himself instead of focusing on the villians which is what Burton's films did.

  • Comment removed

  • @Johnlindsey289 yesss mate i love keaton's batman.

  • @snake2006 Never dis Batman TAS ever!!!!

  • @Wol1427

Why would I do that? Batman TAS is easily better than all the Batman movies EXCEPT for the Nolan films.

I stand by my opinion that as far as live action goes, Bale is the better Batman and Nolan's films are so far superior to the Burton Batman's that I refuse to even watch the older ones anymore.

Batman TAS is very well done, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill steal the show.

  • @snake2006 Bale portayed a better Bruce Wayne that Keaton, but Batman? Absolutely not and a majority of fans and even a good deal of Nolans fans agree Keaton is the better Batman. I disagree; Nolan's films were excellent, but better than Burton's they are not; Burton's captured the true essence of Batman and captured the dark atomsphere of the comic books. I honestly find it sad you can't appreciate 89 or Returns anymore (and funny that Returns is darker than any of Nolan's movies)

  • @snake2006 lol your comments are hidden because they've recieved so many negative votes. It isn't that people don't like your opinions, it's just the way you voice them, it just makes you seem like an arrogant prick.

  • @mrharoldb

No, its just that people don't want to accept the truth, it's human nature.

  • @snake2006 hahaha there is no "truth" when it comes to opinion lol, that's the whole point of an opinion haha, did your parents not raise you very well?

  • @kurvos You make a valid point about the villians in Nolans films. I hope he can see beyond this realistic approach of his and includes these villians. I would like to see Killer Croc.

  • @jameskit Yeah, I agree. I mean, look at Killer Croc in Arkham Asylum - he is fucking badass. Who wouldn't like to see him like that in a live action movie, seriously?

  • @kurvos I would hope they wouldnt make him as huge as they did in Arkham Asylum though but lets see. Also I hope they dont include Robin for at least another two films.

  • @jameskit What the.... what? What's wrong with him being so huge? What in the name of fuck? "Oh, boohoo... don't make him so huge - it looks too badass. Wueh!" No, really; Killer Croc is fucking supposed to be huge! "Oh, but not THAT huge." Fuck that, he's awesome for being huge in Arkham Asylum. And don't be so close-minded about Robin. You can update him to be cooler and more likeable.

  • @kurvos Oh kay someone has some unresolved issues, anyone who gives an opinion that you dont like you try and insult them. Either grow up or get help.

  • @jameskit LOL Don't tell me you want me to "grow up" because I bring some sense and logic into your small world? :P

  • @kurvos Not everyone thinks like you or thinks the same thing. For example some people like Jack Nicholson as the Joker some like Heath Ledger. Just because you think you have sense and logic dosent mean you do. And as for small world you wont even consider another view on things so I suggest you are the narrowminded one. I can this is important to you so this will be my last word so you can repile and feel like you've won. Enjoy your hollow victory.

  • @TheInstantClassic1

Never said there was a perfect movie.

I grew up on the Burton films and looking back after being treated with Begins and Dark Knight with a Batman who TAKES ITSELF SERIOUSLY unlike the Burton films where Keaton just overacts the whole way through and focus on the villians, I can see the old ones as complete shit that they are. But the burton films are better than Forever and Bman and Robin

  • @snake2006 Micheal Keaton > Christian Bale. period. but it is your opinion if you prefer Christian bale, with the gay batman voice. smh lol

  • @youngcnyce Couldn't agree more . Bale is a patsy ! Keaton played the part with style .

  • @Smudgeroon74 But, in my opinion, Bale had more of an actual personality; I just thought Keaton was a little bland.

  • @youngcnyce His voice as Batman actually has a purpose; if he used the same voice as Batman as he did as Bruce, sooner or later, people would be able to recognize him, so up yours. I respect your opinion on the subject, but there's no need to be an asshole about it.

  • @youngcnyce "Gay"? Since when does "gay" mean stupid?

  • @snake2006 right best comic book movie ever made. A movie where a DA who in the comics was a shizophrenic who was good freinds with Bruce Wayne ( and hated Batman) is now all the sudden Jesus, Batman is a hypocrite, ( he murdered Two-Face) The Joker isn't really crazy since he has planned out everything he did rather than go on impulse ( like a real psychopath) and there's morality constantly shoved down our throats for no reason 9 right i'm gonna watch a movie called Batman for life lessons)

  • @starkiller20293

How was Dent Jesus in DK? He was Gotham's white knight, he was doing what every other DA was afraid to do, take on the corruption in Gotham. If Dent snaps and commits crimes it gives all the people he locked up just cause to get their convictions overturned.

Batman didn't kill anyone intentionally, he tried to take out both Dent and Save Jim's boy, so how does that make Batman a hypocrite. The Joker has always been crazy but a serious danger. Read the comics.

  • Dont fuck with the bat!!!

  • ok i like this movie better than the tdk . I mean the tdk movie is just not as accurate from the comics . this movie is much closer to the comics . So but if you like a more realistic go for tdk . If you like more comic book related go for batman 1989

  • @servantxsword actually tdk is more of the 1990's and 2000's this 1939-1940's where batman did kill

  • watched this movie all day as i kid along with forever

  • Out of those 372,864 views I have probably 100 of them love that music as it climbs the shot climbs the tower

  • Whats the symphony at the end called?

  • @OWWLegendKiller

Danny Elfman composed the music to this movie, but Elfman has never composed a symphony that I'm aware of. For that matter, I'm not sure he writes any concert (non-movie) music of any kind. I'm guessing he must have, to practice if nothing else, but I don't know of anything having been released.

The music playing there from the Batman soundtrack is titled as "Finale", but it's not drawn from any symphony; it's original to the movie.

  • @IgnatzKolisch, oh OK, thanks. I was almost positive i'd heard it in commercials and stuff outside of anything Batman related, and it sounds like it would have been taken from some kind of sympony. MY BAD!

  • it´s great!!!!

  • This scene defined my freaking childhood. I'll never forget it.

  • @bloodylogos me to thats why its my profile picture

  • That's what is missing from the Christian Bale movies: A great score. Danny Elfman's music in this movie is epic.

  • best batman ending gives me chills

  • In the end batman is just a guy in a suit who can fight

  • Billy Dee Williams was pretty much a non entity in the movie anyways. Anyone could have played that role. There was nothing Harvey Dent about his character other than the name which is why Aaron Eckhart re-deemed Harvey Dent In TDK that blows Billy Dee and Tommy Lee Jones out of the water. And to me, I find it really sad that Billy Dee ended up as "The Token Black Guy" in the movie who just merely smiles, stays out of the conversation and had no involement in the plot what-so-ever.

  • @Shadowhawk28 The only good thing he did was read Batman's letter in the end and introduce the Bat-signal. That was it! Waste of time and character.

  • There will never be a woman or porno that gets me as hard/revved up as this moment in film. Tim Burton, I sincerely thank you for this/you have no idea how awesome this really is....

  • @Murrman84 actually you should that michael usaland and sam ham if they hadnt stay on it it would never have been made

  • Try and top that Mr Nolan.

  • Catwoman from part 2 was great looking at the bat signal!

  • I rename this scene: The Dark Knight Rises!

  • @KyleGibbons91 WTH does WTF mean? jk. SMH "Shaking My Head"

  • What an awesome ending!!

  • The video should start at 0:35. Screw the rest.

  • awsome
