all great cars but looks like the guy on the bike pulled back right after the bridge there is no way any car will pull on a busa that fast at those speeds there are few and supra tuned stroked or not won't happen I have a yzf600 and have raced all different cars including supra and tt rx7 none of which keep up and mine has around 80 hp less than a busa don't take it wrong supra is fast as hell but against someone that will tkae the bike all the way out will be better

@Redne0 you are a idiot a stock supra will blow very shortly with stock rod bolts any thing will blow with stock rod bolts pushing 800 hp any motor! you boost it to 30psi n you will blow thats motor up! in stock form! push a rod right threw the oil pan!there r many thing you must do for any motor to last the abuse of 800hp.any motor can make big HP but they wont last very long in stock trim.that goes 4 evr motor made even the supra.

try a 555big block chevy in the hornet with a $10,000 turbo with nitrious supercharger and everything! probally put out 900+bhp my car only has a 350 small in it but once i restore it it'll be a bad ass on the streat 73 nova once i get it done about 500+bhp vs my dad 1969 gto 610 bhp but it was a good race between the hayabusa and the hornet try putting it on the 1/4 mile drag see what'll do and its all legal instead of illeagl on the street!
@Zerginfantry I saw some of the stuff you posted a long time ago and my answer to some of it is yes the Supra may not have a flat torque curve like that hornet does but thats where people use some ingenuity. One thing some guys do is spray a small shot of nitrous to help the turbo spool (normally 50 or 75 shot) and use Anti lag and a two step launch control system. One of the guys in my Supra group owns one and uses that and owns up numerous cars from a dig. I am not afraid of racing from a dig!
If you know any background about the cars this video the guy who owns the Supra built a Supra that makes twice the power the one in this video makes and is currently doing 7 second passes. That hornet obviously can do better but he would have a lot of work to do to get there.
And the deal with Supra and torque they can make decent torque and utilization of torque depending on how the car is tuned. My Supra makes 787 whp and 695 torque all because of tuning and proper modification selection.
Drag racing has nothing to do with top speed or 40 MPH rolls. Also, that Hornet can make just as much power if the owner chooses too, but AMCers have a few disadvantages that the average Toyota owner doesn't: maninly sourcing parts, thoyugh custom parts are availble for purchase, and are usually not that expensive (~700, if not less, for a set of 8 custom forged pistons)
You're also talking about tuning, which is another disadvantage for the AMC since it uses a Carb, which is quite plainly another disadvantage on the AMC's part. Though, we do have Megasquirt, it's not the same as a well tuned MPI set up like the 2JZ's.
Also, before you start doubting that amc's can indeed do a 7-second pass in the 1/4th, please take a look at the famous Brian Ambrosini's Gremlin, which runs high 7's to low 6's (on an AMC motor,and whitout turbo's, mind you)
I understand. The Hornet has the displacement advantage over the Supra obviously. The owner of the hornet doesn't have to do do much to make big power. I never denied that the AMC cannot do a 7 second pass or better. Like you defend the AMC cars I defend the Supras because I own one and I know its disadvantages as you know the Hornet's disadvantages. The license plate on the Supra says "TOP END" which encompasses the Supra's main strength.

lets face it, traction or no traction supra's are kinggg of the highway. Pound for pound they are by far the best highway/roll racers out there. Especially one like this with a single turbo setup which are more effective on highway runs, where TT setups are better for the strip, this guy is only running 32 lb's as well which is fairly low for a supra it some cases, but even at that setup that car is still probably pushing 750hp, which is more than enough to pretty much eat anything it rolls up 2
let's face it, If the busa had half the money put into modifications that the supra had, or even a single turbo on 6-8 lbs. of boost, it would destroy most supras.
Supra still has a 6L engine 3L and the hornet has a 360 cu V8, 5.9 L and has spray plus other modifs... Sooo, yea... You know, it's hard to beat a supra... The only real fair race (same amount of modifs and all) is the skyline...
The Supra also has two giant ass snails under the hood too, that the Hornet doesn't, as well as other modifications done to it. Don't act like the Supra was bone stock.

Supras are actually fairly cheap to modify. It's the actual car itself since they're considered collectors vehicles now that drive up the bill. Hell when you can throw on a 5k turbo kit and make 650rwhp, that's pretty damn good.
Your comment shows just how much you actually no about the 2JZ-GTE. It's hands down probably one of the best responding engines to mods ever made. Supras aren't like generic imports. They still cost 30k+ for a reason.
But it's not the horsepower that matters on a Supra, as we all know they are capable of amazing power. It's getting that power at a reasonable RPM, which Supra's have a hard time doing. Then throw in they're horrible traction issues...
I have to say something to all those who are saying that the Hornet is indeed a bad car, because that statement to wholly false.
When comparing two cars, one has to take into account more than just Horsepower, which I'm sure the Supra has plenty of. You also have to pay attention to the Torque curves; many high HP cars, that are Turbocharged, suffer from extreme lag. I am willing to bet that the Hornet has a nice, flat, Torque curve, but one has to ask himself, does the Supra?
Another thing to consider is traction; which the Supra has a bad reputation for. Now, I dunno how well the Hornet does is that aspect, but it's something to consider.
To those say that Japanese power-plants are superior because they can get 100HP per Litre, you have to take into account that American motors aren't meant to have high revs, or a high HP/L content. No, American engines, especially the V8's that you seem to hate with a passion have something that many Japanese cars do not: Torque.
Not that I'm a V8 fan-boy or anything; I'm partial to Straight Six's, specifically the 258 AMC, the 4.0L Jeep (and, when the crank and piston rods of the 258 are introduced to the 4.0L, it becomes the 4.6L stroker, a very nice engine in my opinion)and the Cummins 6bt (very nice for Torque :D)
Don't get my wrong; The 2JZ is a very good engine, it's just not my style.

4780 is no joke, especially with the stroker. I'm still running the 3 liter, and have no problems with most things on the road. That's a serious setup for the street. Actually, I know someone who has that setup, but is running a VERY large shot of NOS on the street for these exact reasons...to beat bikes. One word, 2 syllables....Batlground.
GT47 is hands down a lot better. I'm only running a T-67 right now and it's what i'm aiming for. Yes a supra can handle 1000hp stock but it won't run consistantly before it breaks. I own a supra and will tell you a TT viper is one of the few cars that will take a supra, they're one of the fastest straight line cars out there top end.

I ran a 3.4stroker Supra with my viper and beat him twice from a dig. the key to beating those guys is don't play there game at racing from a roll although I would have taken him regardless but if you race most supras from a dig you can take them easly.

The Hornet wasnt near the busa. the busa was just behind the supra by a few bikes lengths and the supra was about 10 cars ahead of the hornet when it didnt use nitrous. when it used nitrous it was like half length ahead of the supra. and the supra i can pretty much guarentee didnt get good grip until about 80 mph being on 34 psi. Unless he feathered it.
It's not like his nitrous is gonna be there for more then 2 races. the Supras boost will always be there. Meaning after 2 races the hornet has no chance after a few runs. Meaning the Supra is the greater car within this video.
THere is no official stop point the Supra flew passed when they touched the camera. and neither had there brakes on. Therefore the Supra is still god amongst man.

Supra still has a 6L engine 3L and the hornet has a 360 cu V8, 5.9 L and has spray plus other modifs... Sooo, yea... You know, it's hard to beat a supra... The only real fair race (same amount of modifs and all) is the skyline...

Supras are actually fairly cheap to modify. It's the actual car itself since they're considered collectors vehicles now that drive up the bill. Hell when you can throw on a 5k turbo kit and make 650rwhp, that's pretty damn good.

But it's not the horsepower that matters on a Supra, as we all know they are capable of amazing power. It's getting that power at a reasonable RPM, which Supra's have a hard time doing. Then throw in they're horrible traction issues...

I have to say something to all those who are saying that the Hornet is indeed a bad car, because that statement to wholly false.
When comparing two cars, one has to take into account more than just Horsepower, which I'm sure the Supra has plenty of. You also have to pay attention to the Torque curves; many high HP cars, that are Turbocharged, suffer from extreme lag. I am willing to bet that the Hornet has a nice, flat, Torque curve, but one has to ask himself, does the Supra?

Another thing to consider is traction; which the Supra has a bad reputation for. Now, I dunno how well the Hornet does is that aspect, but it's something to consider.
To those say that Japanese power-plants are superior because they can get 100HP per Litre, you have to take into account that American motors aren't meant to have high revs, or a high HP/L content. No, American engines, especially the V8's that you seem to hate with a passion have something that many Japanese cars do not: Torque.

Not that I'm a V8 fan-boy or anything; I'm partial to Straight Six's, specifically the 258 AMC, the 4.0L Jeep (and, when the crank and piston rods of the 258 are introduced to the 4.0L, it becomes the 4.6L stroker, a very nice engine in my opinion)and the Cummins 6bt (very nice for Torque :D)
Don't get my wrong; The 2JZ is a very good engine, it's just not my style.

4780 is no joke, especially with the stroker. I'm still running the 3 liter, and have no problems with most things on the road. That's a serious setup for the street. Actually, I know someone who has that setup, but is running a VERY large shot of NOS on the street for these exact reasons...to beat bikes. One word, 2 syllables....Batlground.

GT47 is hands down a lot better. I'm only running a T-67 right now and it's what i'm aiming for. Yes a supra can handle 1000hp stock but it won't run consistantly before it breaks. I own a supra and will tell you a TT viper is one of the few cars that will take a supra, they're one of the fastest straight line cars out there top end.

I ran a 3.4stroker Supra with my viper and beat him twice from a dig. the key to beating those guys is don't play there game at racing from a roll although I would have taken him regardless but if you race most supras from a dig you can take them easly.

The Hornet wasnt near the busa. the busa was just behind the supra by a few bikes lengths and the supra was about 10 cars ahead of the hornet when it didnt use nitrous. when it used nitrous it was like half length ahead of the supra. and the supra i can pretty much guarentee didnt get good grip until about 80 mph being on 34 psi. Unless he feathered it.

If you want power adders just look at the hornet. Huge hood scoop, big NOS system, huge drag racing tires and the engine sounded like something off of the space shuttle. the hornet probably had just as many mods as the supra. just imagine how slow a stock hornet must be. it would need major mods to play with the supra.
