  • why do they need to be so small?? a 2 inch sculpture is still a miniature :P

  • can i use the kneaded eraser in sculpting like that? thanks buddy! :)

  • watching this kind of tutorial video is quite enjoyable, and all for free! this is where youtube at its best.\!

  • vikings never used 2 handed swords

  • @Darius12235 This guy is making fantasy miniatures.

You know what? I don't think Goblins, Kobolds or Wizards actually existed either.

  • i don't know if you already have a video with what i'm gonna ask, but it will be realy usefull to upload a vid were it shows actual sculpting, it could be very helpful on how to add the details on the figure and the use of the tools you use

  • Thnks for the vid ^^

I have one question, I accidently bought ground clay a while ago and although it's impossible to use it for detailed characters, can I still use it for buildings and props?

It's a shame to throw it away

  • @RebeccaLessay hmm,I am not sure about ground clay, I have never used it. I say give it a try and see!

  • Can you make 1:87 scale figures using this process? If so do you have a tutorial ? or any info? I want to make my own figures for HO scale railroad.

  • @smallwonderz Yes, you can make 1/87 scale using this process but you have to use the last few videos where I show you how to make the smallest minis. You can't use super sculpey at that scale. You have to use a professional two part epoxy like Procreate or Greenstuff. Thats the last few vids in this series. (the Woman warrior)

  • @epicfantasy Thank you so much for the super prompt answers and help to my quandry, very informative.

  • @smallwonderz Yes, definitely, but you have to use the clays I use in the later installments of this tutorial like green stuff or procreate.

  • Brilliant videos-- this is an amazing resource. THANK YOU!! One question, can you use the q-tip with water technique on the super sculpey to smooth things out like you did with play-dough? Thanks again for these videos!

  • @gjgoltz Yes, you can use the qtip and water technique on just about any type of clay to get a nice smooth look out of your miniature sculptures.

  • I'd like to have heard less talking and seen more actual sculpting.

  • is the super sculpey hareder than the kids dough?

  • Yes, super sculpey is quite a bit firmer than kids dough.

  • @quickpwnman28 kids dough isnt meant to harden... so yes

  • Thank for posting these- even though I work in fabric, I needed some tips on how to do a multiple fairy diorama in smaller scale, and your info helped a lot- I'm experienced in art figure assemblage, so I did not need a lot of visual- but a lot of what you shared has helped a great deal for me to move my project forward.

  • You are very welcome! Thanks for watching and for commenting :)

  • can you PLEASE show us what your dooing and time lapse it

  • Thanks for the great suggestion. I don't have any further footage of this project. But I will be doing another sculpting video and I am going to do a video on how to cast and duplicate miniatures. I will put some time lapse in thise. Great suggestion, thanks.

  • also maybe skip the build ups and show us how you work the different tools and maybe different techniques to create different textures and so on.

by the way thank you for the great vidoes showing us how to do it step bu step.

  • Thanks, I definitely tend to do too much with the build ups. I been thinking about revamping this series of vids. maybe some time this year. So much good stuff.

  • Yay! Awesome

  • Ah!!! hes naked!

    lol just kidding

  • HaHaHaHaHaHaHahahaHAhAHaHA!!!!! lol!!!!

  • ur very talented

  • Just a general critique: You spend a lot of time tellings what was done, and what you are goint to do, but there are no shots showing you actually doing the sculpting. Shots showing the actual sculpting, tool use, how to sculpt the legs, arms, torso, etc...

  • I agree actually. A good way to get the detail in without having to show it all in real time, is to speed up the frame rate of the video to show it all happening very quickly or use a timelapse mode (which is basically the same thing).

It would be really useful to see the working along with the explanation. ^_^

  • cool vids, but swords a bit big lol

could you buy any chance show how to make a helmet and armour for lord of the rings miniatures?

  • HI, Thanks! Then next video in the series I will be doing armor, helmet on the 3" model. Then I got several more coming. Stay tuned! Won't be long :)

  • Great videos! Looking forward to the next part(s)

  • Thanks! I have at least two more parts coming but, took a break to do some other projects. Got some more vids coming shortly!

  • CooL!

  • Loving your tutorials, but I have to back what Sabre said. Some step by step guides on exactly what you to do sculpt such an amazing figure would be nice.

  • I would like to see the working techniques as well as the results. Please include some of the actual sculpting if possible. I am looking forward to the next installment! Thanks.

  • You make a great point. Instead of doing part 7 next which is the detail work. I will do another tutorial, call it 6a, where I show some of my working techniques. Its a great idea! Thanks!

  • If you want a really great vice I use my old vice for tying flies for fishing, it was only 20 bucks new. Very movable and gives you more access due to the increased clearance.

  • Very good tutorial. Please post the next video as soon as possible. I can't wait.

  • First!
