  • Actually it would be better described as a magnetic motor. All electric motors rely on magnetism. Leaving out semantics, the name is close enough and of airtight theory. I've built many motors like this before using a battery, magnet, wire, and paperclips. (And a rubber band to hold it together.)

  • Yes, magnet motors are electric powered. This one uses a permanent magnet for the field. Lighter/powerful ones use only electromagnets.

  • Ok but I was referring to a magnet compared to an electromagnet - force and weight. If the motor you speak of were built with electromagnets in place of the permanent magnets to produce the same work, it would be lighter.

  • gilbondfac, tell me if I understand this correctly. The first motor charged up the little battery. Then when you hooked it up to the second motor with the little propeler it released the electricity you stored in it from the first motor? Is that right?
