  • I just LOVE the ambient swamp sounds intro.

  • HAH HAH HAH

  • I was raised on the SNES and the Donkey Kong games were and still are the only games my dad can and will play with me even though I'm 20 now :.)

  • I always thought the very beginning of this sounded like the very beginning of Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" Am I the only one who think that?

  • @humanconvertile look at the top comment. =)

  • @humanconvertile I totally hear it too. Yet another reason why I love this song so much.

  • This song is completely 100% epic because its use of ambience in the background in a rhythmic matter along with the rhythm of this awesome dramatic music is just pure gold!

  • This always used to get my head bopping haha

  • Best game ever!!!!!

  • Donkey Kong songs slap!

  • I'm amazed how many layers of sound they could compress, with the SNES's capabilities and all. This game really was top of the line all around; a good time to grow up

  • It was the best game from snes

I live in Germany it was here famous also

  • Im very glad that i grown up with these games =)

  • i whas born in 1995...

but my dad had an snes soooo i could play on it

  • The 8-bit version from "Donkey Kong Land 2" actually sounds even nicer. :D

  • New tab + RainyMood = :)

  • It's uncanny! This tune is mash up of Expose's "Seasons Change" and Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight".

  • Imagine Koji Kondo AND David Wise working in a game's soundtrack...... :D

  • @GoldenYoshi1 The level of awesomeness would be.... would be.... dare I say..... OVER 9000!!!!!

  • @GoldenYoshi1 thats what im wondering..... XD

    epicness!

  • This song reminds me of playing this game with my Big Sister after a hard week of school and knowing it's Friday and we have all weekend to play. God I miss the 90's.

  • Donkey Kong version of "In The Air Tonight" lol

  • I really love this song.

  • i. want. this. to. last. forever.

  • .... I can feel it cominnnnnng in the air tonight, oh LOrd!

  • they should do a phil collins mash up to this.....

( i can feel it, coming in the air tonight..,. OH LORD)

  • FAVORITE SONG OFF Donkey kong country 2 period!!

  • oh my god IS THERE ANY SONG THAT IS ON THE DONKEY KONG SERIES I DONT LIKE?!?!?!?

  • @tdill7 God,I hate people like you. Old dudes who keep saying THIS IS THE BEST EVER , it's your nostalgia talking. New Games are still as great as old ones. Like Metal Gear Soild, and the NEW Mario games, and Donkey Kong Country Returns. OPEN YOUR EYES. I love this game to death as well though. (and i hate CoD but still.

    )

  • @GaraOFtheeFUNK How are you gonna hate someone who expresses their opinion? That's just sad. I'm 20 years old and I do agree that games today are great, but these games were awesome in their own way. In some ways I would prefer these games to some of the new games that are out there.

And by the way, I don't know how old you are but people who were born in this generation aren't old. You sound pretty young.

  • @TheRayMan91 -Same here.

  • @GaraOFtheeFUNK

    shame on you

  • @GaraOFtheeFUNK They're all good.

  • KING K WUZ HERE 2011

  • @revanskywalker I agree. There is almost no driving creative force in the game industry today with the exception of a few. Games are mass marketed and amalgamated for the general population. Artistic merit has taken a back seat to formulaic and safe concepts. Games today satisfy more of an addictive, impulsive nature rather than an artistic/atmospheric style with simple, effective, and tight gameplay. I miss the old days. It's up to you to make a difference with the money you spend.

  • i just love this song so soft yet awesome then comes in with the best beat ever

  • nintendo put out super mario allstars for the wii which was the first three mario games from the nes games on one disk. they seriously seriously need to do that with the original three donkey kong games from the snes. i would buy that in a heartbeat

  • @monkeysack3553

They already have. It's called the Virtual Console.

The Super Mario Anniversary release was a rerelease of Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES. It had zero changes to it. You can get all three DKC on the Virtual Console for $8 a piece, which equals $24, which is just under what Super Mario 25th Anniversary cost. And additionally, you won't need a disc, either.

  • @Draknfyre true

  • @SergeantLuke I agree with you, I still play some great games today on the Wii and even 360, but I also downloaded games from the 90's in both the Wii and 360, such as this.

  • does anybody know when it's going to be donkey kong country 25th anniversary

  • @KarmaMustardGamer

Don't count on it. The DKC 25th anniversary won't be until 2019. And considering Rare created the games, despite Nintendo owning the IP, a retail rerelease is unlikely. As I answered below, you can get all three for $8 each on the Virtual Console. Get them there if you want them.

  • @Draknfyre i know you can buy them on the vc but i would love Nintendo putting the three games in one disc while having a bonus music cd like the the Mario 25th anniversary one or even releasing a brown wii or wii remote

  • Remember when games took you on an adventure? When the storyline was more important that getting new gear? Call of Duty drained gamers of their dignity. It singlehandedly pushed the generation away from simple enjoyment of a game, and got people on edge and angry and doing nothing but spewing hate and trashtalking...gaming is ruined. Multiplayer used to mean invite your friend over and scoot over on the couch to make room for him =(

  • - i will always stick by REAL gaming legends such as crash bandicoot, rampage world tour and most of nintendo 64s games - on machines that lasted longer AND STILL WORK without ''required'' batteries. bashing your fellow man for games getting worse means you just need to read a large dictionary. its the companys fault for producing the slew of useless gaming crap weve had in the last ten years - or were canceled halfway.

  • 早朝に聴きたい!

  • when i hear the song this shit come back to my mind

a ghost bring me a bananas, anoither banana, another banana, and a fcking bee

  • back when music matters

  • phil collins

  • i remember this days in my childhood 1995 the best stage of my life!! sheet the tears comings

  • Severe nostalgia. Struggling every day beating some of those hardass levels, it being equally fun every damn time. Die, try again, die, try again, repeat. My childhood. I love this game, and the music is just ingenious. They don't make gamemusic like this anymore! It all died after the Nintendo 64 :(

  • in the air tonight vs bayou boogie : watch?v=YEjoz9egJDs

    it's so fucking good!!

  • @musicxcharts2 EPIC

  • Now I know people here are mostly referring this song to Phil Collin's music, but I can't help the fact that I've been mindfucked for a different reason.

search "Na dobre i na złe intro" (it's polish drama) and watch one of the first videos that show the theme song, compare the song that plays to this video at 0:31 to 0:42... Sounds too similar, eh? I couldn't help but compare the two when I first played this level

  • "I can feel it, caaaalllin in the air tonight....."

  • @TheShoe1990 Haha Good Shit!

  • Has anyone ever noticed because of the synths, all early to mid 90's video game music sounds like the instrumentals to 80's pop songs?

  • "I can feel it coming in the air tonight"

  • Why did makers stop caring about the music in games, since those are the things that bring back memories. =...(

  • 6* This song....*ears drool*

  • Wow.....333 likes and 66 dislikes. The magic of 3 and 9 really is here. xD Schweet.

  • maaaaaaan,so blowed

  • I never payed attention to this song. i hated these stages but now that i have herd the song...I LOVE IT

  • I grew up with this game, although im 16 years old at the moment, for some reason I feel really old T____T , nostalgia overflow...

  • @squirralicious is 19 old?

  • @metroidfannumber1 hell no it's not xD , but I don't know, I just feel old knowing that its been a lot of time xD

  • @squirralicious i have some "old" favs. wolf3d, final fight, and of course, tmqsmm.

  • i wish i was born in 1980 and play these kinds of games as a kid, and play super Mario 64 in 1997 and get all 120 stars and with a little help and go to levels just to listen to the music its awesome it makes you think who made the music in the games

  • @68kenton

I was born in '81, and not one day goes by that I don't think about how awesome my childhood was thanks to NES/SNES/N64. Used to sit in my room for days straight playing video games. I'm 30 now, and I regret NONE of it. Now I get to play these games with my son, and it's amazing.

  • @etemon777 how much do you weigh?

  • @EldestSauce

    165

  • @etemon777 YES i did the same thing, best days of my life.

  • @etemon777 May I be your son???? :'(

  • @etemon777 Your son is very lucky.

  • i used to love this game ,even my red neck trash friends had it and loved it like it was friends with nascar and budwater

  • Emulators suck IMO.

  • buckethead should play this *-*

  • sad story:

my SNES doesn't work anymore, so I will never be able to play this game again.

    :'(

  • @ERICROJO156 Haha funny story dude. You can just go online and download an emulator and download the rom for this game, it's that simple. Not quite the same playing it on pc but it's still the exact game. Just google SNES emulators and then search for the DK2 Rom.

  • @DEATHBOMBHITMAN47

    hmm.. very interesting!

    thanks!

  • @ERICROJO156

Or another alternative is you can buy this game for the WII in the WII Market via the menu screen (if you own a WII), you will just need a Classic Controller to plug into your remote.

  • @NeonSolar Mind you. My approach is free unless you like the feeling of a controller.

  • @DEATHBOMBHITMAN47

I've never always been able to get the hang of those emulator things lol, and yes, playing platform games with a keyboard for me can be quite tricky. Everything I get, I tend to get it for the WII now so.

  • @ERICROJO156 ...created. Then find the Rom for the game you are looking for (usually you can find it on the same website that had the emulator) then download that rom and save it to the folder that you created (yes the rom needs to be saved to the same folder that the emulator is in i.e. the one you created). Then go to your created folder and unzip the rom file to that folder you created. Now everything is set. In that folder you created click on the emulator program...

  • @ERICROJO156 For all y'all who want to know how to make an emulator. First go to My computer and make a new folder name it what you want. Naming it "SNES" would make most sense. Then go to a website and download an emulator (just search "SNES emulator") and when it asks you where you want to save it, save it to the folder that you created. Then go to the folder you created, right click on the emulator file (it is zipped so this is to unzip it) and find unzip and unzip it to the folder you

  • MEMORIES!!!!!

  • So a few weeks ago I was driving in my car...then they played I can feel it coming in the air tonight in the radio. I was suddenly like: WTF DKC2 ON THE RADIO?! AWESOME! But then I heard Phil Collins singing :(

  • out of all the dkc games this one had the best music

  • okay song i guess i remember a level that had these huge cat tails ill play it and see what it is

  • why was the music from this game so damn amazing?

  • jungle! good old times :)

  • Does anyone else notice that echo of the melody from 0:26 thru 0:47? My favorite part, aside from the whole song itself.

Yep, one of the Best VGM, it is. :3

  • I feel like I'm the only one that notices it, but I really like the echo of the melody in the background. o.o

*sigh* One of the best VGM indeed.

  • I THOUGHT THIS WAS PHIL COLLINS LOL

  • One more thing I wanted to say - actually it's not the developer's fault that games get worse and worse - sure, they make it, but we buy them. We accept them. And sadly, we love them. Hear all those people shouting every year OMFG CoD (insert anything here) is the best game ever. They do it every year on the same game.

Not just the industry has changed, but we as players also did. The most did. Some still know about the magic in games...

  • @revanskywalker

    you are a wise one.

The videogames follow the simple rule: "producer gives what consumers whant"

So, if tv shows, videogames, cars, music and everything else, is getting worse, is not producers fault, but consumers

  • @revanskywalker I think the more correct answer is that games are NOT getting worse; nostalgia is merely clouding the minds of gamers. Yes, games like DKC are phenomenal and deserve their reputations, but there are loads of great games out there today- you just have to actually LOOK, rather than assume that Call of Duty is the only modern game in existence.

  • @revanskywalker I dont buy all this new crap. theres no ''we'' in this. what we want and wanted in gaming is so far now from that its not even worth it to buy the ps3 or xbox 360. its the companys loss! they want to charge hell of money to buy machines that cant even play other generations games, hardware accessories and BREAK at the hit of a rolled up sock - fine! no money to them! they want to charge so much money for every single required bit of machinery for a system! screw that!

  • @woooudoo

the mass is still ready to pay for it...

    I agree with you tho

  • kwl ; [) ty

  • @revanskywalker deffinitly. Back in the day gaming was about working around the limitations. So many games back then could capture the game-feel so much better then they do now. How i tried to explain this to the graphic-guys on my school.. but they would just laugh at me being an old schooler anyway.

    Gamer since age; 1

  • @revanskywalker You're right, in the end developers make games that sell and if people buy the same games every year with a new title then why would they ever take risks and come up with creative ideas? Case in point: COD like you said, any sports game, etc

  • @revanskywalker

It is the direct result of evolving games. There has to be a compromise, sadly.

  • graphics ruined video games. IMO, gameplay today severely lacks when considered against gameplay of the SNES era (certain developers are great exceptions... valve, bethesda) but for the most part, companies have taken the improvements in graphics as an excuse to slack everywhere else... music, storyline, map design (when applicable), and most importantly gameplay. Back in the day when tech was limited, games had to actually have creative merit because they couldn't get by on just flashy graphics

  • @teganyavo

exactly - you can compare it to the movie industry - the 3D technology is kinda an excuse for horrible storyline. I mean come on, what movie had a decent story line over the past years? Inception? That's what I mean...

  • @teganyavo

About your graphics rant: what do you say about Retrostudios?

  • lol..i used to like lick my cartridges a little bit even

  • @mirokyu How does it damage them? Half of my N64 and SNES carts don't work unless I blow on them first...

  • Just think: Blowing in the cartridges actually did more damage to your carts than fixing them.

  • @mirokyu you're just making that up

  • @shishikyuu Am not.

  • @mirokyu

Just think: The comment I am replying to is a lie. Most N64/SNES/NES games won't work unless you blow them. Blowing gets rid of the dust

  • @ManofWario blowing makes your cartridges rust. Most SNES cartridges will work perfectly fine if you keep 'em clean or clean 'em appropriately. I never had any trouble with mine and it's the first time I hear of people having to blow in 'em.They can't be compared to NES cartridges.

  • @jojean789

all my things still work fine if i can get the consoles working. by the time they die for good, i will be playing 360 games for nostalgai purposes.

  • @mirokyu true

  • 0:00-0:20m phil collins fuckin weird

  • 4 ppl hates being in the swamp xD

  • @1xCloudStrifex1 damn those 4 people then.

  • Awwweeeesome!! This makes my brain bleed

  • apparently, the music of DKC2 has quite a presence on VGM's best video game music.

  • better than new games

  • Damn I thought nostalgia was only for old people

  • @Himyvideoisthis is 25 old?

  • @1xCloudStrifex1

Well I'm 18 so in my eyes you are old and since I feel old that makes you really really old

  • Another great music. Nintendo really had some good game makers back there.

  • In the first seconds i thought it is In the air tonight :o

  • DKC2 has THE best OST ever

  • it sounds like a phil collins song I can feel it callin in the air tonight lol

  • This makes me think of catching frogs in the evening or at least walking around a swampy area :) These stages are some of my very favorite in this game next to some in gloomy gultch.

  • Are we really became so old?

*buries face in his hands and cries due to the nostalgic overflow*

  • @maikscho How English spoke one do?

  • @maikscho probably I'm not so old: I replay this game every year with my brother. He's near 20 but we still remember and love this game.

  • Am I the only one who thinks of Phil Collins from the beginning beat?

  • @lionheart1827 By far not haha. Lots of people do. Maybe most of them do!

Also check like, some video responses and videos on the right, proves you're by far, not the only one ;)

  • @lionheart1827 Nope.

  • @lionheart1827 Nope. LOL

  • @lionheart1827 i do. that would be the icing on the cake if he did start singing, though

  • @lionheart1827 Yes! Agree! Hahaha

  • @lionheart1827 Haha, that was the first thing I thought too when the song started. Then the lyrics started...

  • @lionheart1827 I can feel it coming in the air tonight......

  • @lionheart1827 Literally LMAO!

  • @lionheart1827 I know what you mean,

sound familiar to "In the air tonight"

  • @lionheart1827 LOL IT DOES! +1

  • @lionheart1827 nope haha...even as a kid when i first played this that's what came to mind...mostly because my dad was a huge phil collins fan

  • @lionheart1827 First thing I thought before looking in comments to see someone else who thought so >_>

  • @lionheart1827 yeah the beat to this sounds exactly like the beat from in the air tonight by Phil Collins.

  • @lionheart1827 omg yes i was just expecting "i can feel it in the air tonightt.."

  • @lionheart1827 i guess not ~ /watch?v=YEjoz9egJDs

  • @lionheart1827 Lol look in the suggestion column

  • @lionheart1827 I can feel it, calling in the air tonight... Oh Diddy....

  • @lionheart1827 I have a feeling the composer thought of Phil Collins too.

  • i mean answer

  • *.* beautifull game Q_Q

  • *Looks to Wii, 360, PS3*...

    *Sigh*

  • 4 People Need to take a barrel to the face from Kloak=)

  • *NYACK NYACK NYACK*

    *tosses a barrel*

    Me: Hey! Watch out!

    *tosses a barrel again*

    *flees*

Me: O I'll get you this time!

    *tosses bananas*

    ME: O thanks anyways :D

  • Fuck rare for leaving Nintendo

  • @TheCrazyNintendoFan

No, Nintendo sold Rare. Even if they were still with Nintendo there newer games haven't really been "stellar", since Many people who were originally at Rare left.
