Pirates wouldn't even bother taking a war ship, knowing they would be killed. 2. No they definetly didn't. Pirates we're thieves, rogues, etc... not organized, not disciplined. While the Brits soldiers, sailors, etc.. we're disciplined, and TRAINED. And pirates are still alive.

@cuzgandalfgothigh99 In fact theirs more pirates today then their was back then. And there was only 1 warship I can think of at the top of my head that pirates captured. That was an American warship around 1800 and it was chasing a pirate ship, in waters it didn't know, at night. The pirates had landed, and the Americans didn't know, and kept following. Then the ship hit the sand and got stuck. That's the only time I know of that pirates captured a warship.

@sniffy1233 i know its very fustrating getting ganked, i was only ever ganked 2 times be the same person when i was on my way to tortuga and i got away both those times but its still very anoying because you know he will be waiting for u, and we do lose alot of players because of gankers, people just dont give other a chance to lvl up, they just hit them hard and that discourages alot of people from playing which is quite sad :( it would be a better game if we had more people

I can say from experience, The ship at 1:11 is uber powerful. Its also slower than a slug. Still, 43-52 cannons open up on you at close range and you suddenly start to wonder why the ocean is getting higher.

It's hard to compare PotBS and PotCO because PotCO is a casual game that you can play in small time periods, whereas PotBS is a strategical game that can be very time consuming.

@imnotsupreme Mainly because a mouse and keyboard can give you many more control options and function more fluidly then a normal console control can... For example, you can move with asdw, cast with a number key and pick your target with the mouse; in contrast you generally would have to use your thumbstick to both move and target, its not as efficient... Also, you would have so many menus and submenus for things like inventory, quests, and maps on consoles where you can have windows on pc.

This game has shite tons of players and if you die, ur ship is a goner, and you can even lose skills if you die, yet the game has tons of players.

IDK why POTBS hasn't got so many players, but I know it isn't because of play to crush gameplay.

eve has very little in the way of restrictions so it has tonnes of sandbox players, if potbs was a sandbox it would have a ton of players. (i used to play potbs)

I use to and do now (had a big break) play potbs and it is a sandbox lol, it has a player made economy, you can travel freely and many other sandboxish aspects, so, nah to that.

Of course you never take your best ship to PVP. But that doesn't help the level 6 or 7 guy who's trying to complete storyline missions who's next destination is in a red zone (IE, March Harbor right now on Roberts) and gets ganked by 4 50 superfrigs...

Basically I'm playing this till WoW:Cataclysm comes out (the current expansion is fucking retarded) and I'm hooked.

A VERY interesting game, the PvP is awesome, PvE is lagging a little behind but still not too bad.

Ship combat is AMAZING.

Overall I'll give this game a 9/10, there's no excuse for not trying it, really fun!!

This game had so much potential. It was said early-on that if they kept the "Play to Crush" factor of the game, it would end up with a minimal playerbase of only hardcore PVPers who do nothing but bicker about content and balance.

Someone go read the forums. 2 years later, that's exactly what it is. Just like every other Play to Crush game ever, this one missed the mark. Penalizing a player to the extent of costing them an extremely expensive ship for losing fights makes people not play.
