  • Hey, I'm having a problem with durango viper alarm. I can't get the dang thing to program can anyone help who know how to program a replacement remote to a viper alarm. I can give you the model on contact. Thanks

  • Check the tach wire.

  • You need a bypass module. 25 bucks at a local oreilly auto parts store. Same problem with my truck.

  • that is not a bypass problem. that is a TACH problem.

  • its a dodge what did you expect

  • @claudius2maximus that makes no sense..good job dumbass

  • its the immobilizer

  • If you didnt figure it out yet I think I know why....Do you still have the Locktronics on it?

  • These alarms need to be installed by Viper dealers. Any installer like myself can see this problem and know exactly what to look at to fix it. If you don't have an authorized dealer, look in your installation manual. In the troubleshooting, it will show you how to read the fault code and tell you exactly the problem.

In this case, it is most likely a problem with settings or installation of the alarm. Don't go getting a tune up or plug wires to try and fix it.

  • @Soundq22 "it is most likely a problem with settings or installation of the alarm"

No shit, really? It's a problem with the alarm? What on earth would it be?

  • I realize this is almost 2 years old, if you even have the car still. But I'm having the same problem, just had my remote start, viper 5701, installed yesterday and it's doing the same thing. Most likely the starter not running long enough. I'm thinking new plugs and wires might help me.

  • Yeah Ive got an idea , maybe you should get ur money back from the shop that installed this viper 9000 alarm system. hit me up peace Blogdude87

  • bypass issue look on the dash when you do it, i bet a key will flash with a line threw it, take it back to where they installed it the bypass lost the code or the key that they used in the 555u lost the code.

  • How do you change the setting

  • the issue is not with the key bypass or tach issue its set upfor a tachless operation. the remote start is not seeing the voltage spike so its shutting down change the voltage program setting.

  • Bypass issue! what module are you using is it a dei? 556u or dlpchg?

  • Your bypass for the Sentry Key is not working.

Replace or reprogram the bypass. It has lost the key code or quit working all together.

  • its the bypass if you have one it got fryd some how just replace it 50$

  • Bad tach, dont use the virtual tach, go to the tach wier and solder all wire, and releard the tach from the brain, if you are un able tu find or get a tach, set the programming to voltage sence low with 5 sec crank. so that wai when you start your truck it will start and monitor the voltage from the battery for a low vatiation from 1 to 2 volt up seeing that the alternater is generating voltage and that it!

  • I'm having the same problem with my navigator. Were you able to find out whats wrong?

  • Did you bypass your PATS system? U might have to get the bypass plug.

  • Comment removed

  • only because your ride is kyfe

  • had mine installed 2 days ago and it wont start, whata gyp.

  • hey i have the same damn problem with my shit to.. did u ever figure out what the problem was?

  • replace the antenna

  • could be a loose wire

  • what i think it happening is if your car is useing the virtual tach, it will start the car and after a few sec check the voltage to see if the car is running but if your altaner is not putting out a charge quick enuff it will shut down. the only reson i know any thing on one is that im puting one on my self and was reading the book about it. and that would explane why you said at first it did it now and then. i think you can have the setting change to wait longer. hope this helps

  • Just reset the system and program the timer again. I had to do that with our Bull Dog remote starter. Sometimes it does that.

  • check your fuel pump

  • nigga u fucked it up..ur remote looks beat up...what happen to the lil antenna

  • I worked at circuit city doing installs I have done dozens of remote starts in this model this vehicle does need a bypass but it has to already be in there if it worked fine before I would be willing to bet your installer installed it tach less go back and have them install the tach wire.

  • did you install an anti-theft bypass module? that may be the problem if you haven't.

  • you got some fucked up wiring

  • go see yo installer

  • bad tach signal, new viper units have an autotach built in so no need for tach signal

  • Tach -nod-

  • Actually this looks to be a simple alarm programming issue...as was stated earlier if your tach wire is not connected, or has a faulty connection you will need to program the alarm for voltage checking instead of tach checking. This should completely resolve the issue.

  • I got that alarm the remote is no good 3 remotes in 1 yr the remote will just stop working if you got this buy to remotes $100+ per remote

  • Email me and we'll figure it out. flatalndfreakbmx at y a h o o d o t c o m

  • What color is your key? If it's gray, you have a sentry/transponder key. If it is then try this; Hold the head of the key against the key cylinder and then try remote starting it. See if it stays running.

The other thing would be tach, if there is a bad signal, or none at all, the starter doesn't "see" that the truck has started, so it will shut down and then try again.

  • Sentry key or tach

  • check to see if your sentry key is missing or out of range. not sure if the durangos have them but my 99 grand cherokee has they same style keys. there is a chip in them and if the isnt in a special box or if you dont have a bypass it wont work..
