I'm a more liberal-thinking guy as far as issues like abortion and gay rights go, but this gun ban is something I really can't get behind. This is a classic case of angry boy thinking: "I have to be the strongest! I won't let ANYBODY oppose me! Nobody ELSE can have what I have! That way they all have to listen to ME!" This, of course, didn't work with Soviet Russia, nor Robespierre's Revolution, nor any other similar anal-retentive society that has fallen over the ages.

Who should own guns then? the criminals because any society that has gun bans or restrictions just adds a new criminal element which is gun smugglers. Just take a look at where all the mass shootings take place, they all take place in "pistol free zones" places where law abiding citizens cannot carry legally. I guess if we ban guns then we should include law enforcement too right? look at chicago with their pistol ban that worked out real good being the murder capitol of the world.

Yeah control that works well....For criminals! After S. Africa instituted gun control home invasions/Violent crime skyrocketed. I believe it was as much as a 1000% increase.

When the criminal has no fear that the home owner is armed he becomes emboldened.

And no one has ever been killed by a gun, guns don't decide on their own "hey I'm going to shoot this guy". People kill people, not guns. What are the going to ban knives, blunt objects and sharp sticks next?

Even though Obama wants greater restrictions and eventual banning of all guns, the states seem to be passing better, less restrictive gun laws. We have a big struggle ahead of us, but we are Americans and we love our freedom.

Gmakepiece, another question I have is, if gun control is so effective, then how is it that criminals have no problems getting guns? I live in a city that has strict, strict gun control. And yet the gangs are out of control. There's a gang related shooting, seems like, every other day. But I'm not allowed to protect myself so I have to stay at home at night and hope a stray bullet doesn't come through the window. I'm willing to bet the mayor doesn't have to worry about that
