It's so boring when somebody repeats a cliche about Hitler's supposed mistakes. Hitler didn't make as many "mistakes" as all the armchair Napoleons would like to believe. Operation Barbarossa was delayed out of necessity. The Balkans had to be secured first.
The idea was not a war of attrition. They thought killing or capturing 10 million Russians in 6 months would collapse the Soviet Leadership and the Communist government would be forced to surrender and make peace.

The attack was 6 weeks too late in starting. An earlier start & Moscow would have fallen. Another example of poor planning by Hitler's general staff.

Poor mislead souls. Alot will freeze to death in the 1st winter, not equipped for winter the Germans "froze in their tracks". Same as Nappy.
