  • Although I hate hip hop and rap, the way Rush did it was amusing. It had a nice, funky beat and a cool keyboard section going on underneath. It just had a very live, musical feel to it. Not only that, it's kinda funny and really creative. Since when would you hear Geddy using the lyrics "Ya dig?" in song? Or a rapper use the word parallax? Nowadays with rap it's some angry guy saying words with little to no type of instrumentation going on underneath. It shouldn't even be considered music.

  • Ha Ha It's Al doin some fuckin rappin using his Subdivisions voice. Love it. RUSHRULES!

  • haha holy crap! i had no idea i was listening to the live version! makes sense now...haha

  • Good work is the key to good fortune. That'll make a good mantra.

  • Great song!,,!

  • cool cover clips at DEREKD2112

  • The audio quality on this one sounds wild on a Bose AWMS. Rush & Roll, buddy. Good work.

  • does geddy do the rap?

  • @AphoticAgony

Yes he does, with some voici transformer

  • Why does Rush rock?

    Because they rock,

    Roll the bones.

    Roll the bones.

  • roll a fat BONE N SMOKE IT

  • Rush speaks to those who they know from their your and thier music if you listen hard enough you will pick up on thier wisdom for we are children and they the teachers for those of us who appreciate a musical trio that will outlive the pyramids becuase sound like waves and like the great cosmic ocean all travel in waves and only good survive. Long live RUSH and may the very god who sent me revere you as much as he did when giving me a ressurection as the new rising sun. love all pray for all.

  • Rush is the only band that inspires true greatness and motivation along with inttellect, I wonder hoe they intend to decide who of us is first place second place and third. The mentors of my youth and also the symbol on 2112 is not witchraft or sorccery. Take Air out of one of the pentacles and the replace it with trees then take the air and connect the dots ans like magice the earth gave birth to the true imaculant conception. The habitat for life and why the Star pointed up means LIFE

  • @ aJARtv HAHAHA Yeah, that's true! LOL...

  • @ ulquiorra777 I love 'em too, ESPECIALLY after seeing 'em in concert in '87! Thank you for posting it...

  • lol 666 likes

  • we draw our own designs

    /watch?v=L75y79YmNpU

to make the spinning pieces that don't fit.

  • @ANoyer tha fish eez gotta bone in eez throat. Tha rap solo is tha apex of tha track. It transcends tha air tha Anoy'R grasps azzy gasps and perishes slowly into tha nite from calm to desparation and suffocation. Annoyer tha Fish can eda fyshdyk.

  • @0Surfdude well said.

  • Rush Rocks so well...I love them !!

  • This is live, and a damn good live version i would say.

  • 3:20 = EPIC!

  • @mratticus17

I agree, I ilke it too!

  • Very nice comment.masterbrat....

  • damn, this song is awesome except for that rap part, wtf were they thinking? it has a good message to it but it sounds god awful and breaks the mood of the song

  • @annoythefish Not really. Think about it.

  • Why is rush the best, because they are.

  • @aJARtv correct!

  • @themasterbrat obviously he also cares about his cooking as well. What did you talk about over bovine

  • definately in my top 5 favorite bands

  • Comment removed

  • This is NOT the original album version!

  • I picture a hot chick walking to the beat of this song. Just take out the lyrics.

  • This song is one of the best...

  • fuck up at 2:26

  • Alex Lifeson gets his own hook? You have a better chance of seeing Thomas Pynchon in public.

  • Make metaphors, explain things best you can in different perspectives, use a quote from the band and say you like them...get likes.

  • I had lunch with Geddy Lee at his cottage in 1993. Believe me, they ONLY care about the music and the message; not the industry.

RUSH is made up of real musicians; not glory hounds.

BTW... Mr. Lee cooks a mean steak on his bbq.

  • @themasterbrat I knew this 3 decades ago. Why you think there are few videos from these fine 3 men? Never had the chance to meet them personally, but I knew. I have Canadian relatives, nothing more needs be said. Why you think so much sound comes from 3 guys? There care about there craft and what they do. Alex is ego-less. Most watch lead guitar. Man just enjoys his craft, nothing more.

  • @themasterbrat Sweet! I remember I met Alex Lifeson once. The meet and greet didn't turn out so great, but I thought it was awesome. I have to ask... Is Geddy nice? He seems like a pretty chill guy.

  • @AaronShowbiz : yes, Geddy is VERY nice. He is soft spoken.... thoughtful.... very down to earth. I honestly didn't realize i was having lunch with THE Geddy Lee... until he took us inside to see his studio & equipment.

Even then... he NEVER spoke about his career, his accomplishments. All he said was... 'my music is my life'.

@MikeWeit: it was a beautiful late summer day; and we spoke about the weather, hockey, environment, and fishing. He is very 'normal' and not egotistical.

  • @themasterbrat that's fuckin' wicked! Oh god I wanna meet him now!

  • @themasterbrat that's amazing! Why did you get to have lunch with him?

  • @bookemist : it was pure random chance. I was visiting a friend in Muskoka who had the contract to powerwash Geddy's cottage. We went for a drive, and my friend decided to stop in to pick up payment from Mr. Lee. Being the nice guy he is, Geddy invited us in for lunch, since he was alone and was about to bbq and just wanted some company. It's one of the experiences I treasure. It's also a great lesson in life. That no matter how rich or famous or successful... we're all just people.

  • @themasterbrat If only all celebrities and rich people were like that instead of just trying to get into whatever magazine they can often by taking offf their clothes are some other bs.

  • @themasterbrat If your telling the truth that's fucking amazing!

  • @themasterbrat You are a lucky man/woman.

  • I love the fact that Rush is my favorite band and the majority of my favorite music from Rush came out before I was born. Keep rocking!

  • 1991...aaahhhh! Best year ever 4 rush.

  • @madmax21000 I lol'd

Oh wait, are you serious? Let me laugh even harder.

  • i want rush to come to boston again. rock on

  • best band ever, screw all the top 100 bullshit shows and polls, rush kiks ass

  • Is what makes Rush amazing not their ability to experiment and to not become something to which people have a expectation of how they should sound?

You can say this is a bad album, and I wouldnt honestly disagree, but when you begin to define Rush by the progressive rock persona that was given through Moving Pictures, you are failing to see what Rush really is as a band

Rush is a band that is quite literally beyond definiton. To quote Gene Simmons, "What kind of a band is Rush?"

    "Its Rush."

  • Roll The Bones' Songs has a hip-hoppy beat to them! Each Album from Rush has a different theme to them!

  • the ONLY good rap

  • Great song!

  • This is a jammin' song in the chorus. Has a killer solo with plenty of reverb. This is a cool song.

  • why are we here not by -god- but by pure chance learn about natural history, evolution, DNA, chemistry, physics, astronomy, geology and probably some others ending in y..... check out the lyrics inc 'gonna kick some gluteus max' lol

  • I like Rush but 3:22 onward is terrible. They were just trying to relate to the rap fans and lowered their music because of it.

  • @sonic951 Actually, it sound like a form of funk to me. Listen to Funk, then Rap, then you'll be able to tell the difference of the two

  • @sonic951 Nope. That isn't rap that is being replicated, not even close.

I'm a rap fan, Metallica fan, grunge fan, but above all I'm a Rush fan, but they aren't poking at Rap so much as they were about the whole "niggerish" mentality of American/Canadian youths during the early '90s (FYI, I am not a racist, I am using a term to describe just lazy people, not black people, at least this is the context I use it for). The rhyming schemes, the "ebonics" and slang are used to deliver a message.

  • @CobainStJohns No, they have even said that the song is poking fun at rap, because they don't get the appeal of it. If anything, this "rap" sounds better than actual rap. Yes, I'm dissing rap because I don't get it either. But they very much are poking fun at rap, nothing more.

  • @MrHeitz17 Rap? What exactly is rap? Know not of sarcasm do you?

  • i am only 15, but when i heard this song .. i am sorry that my generation cant get to the good music like this

  • @GoZuDiablo Damn Good Point. At 31 years of age, I feel I was probably the last generation to experience fresh and exciting bands coming out every year as a teenager. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot of crap coming out, particularly with the whole "grunge" bandwagon/marekting scheme, but there was still enough coming out to keep us interested. Me and my friends were aware that things weren't as exciting as the 60s or 70s but we never dreamed that it would die completely. So sad.

  • 13 people are the skul that got a dice threwn at them.

  • RUSH ROCKS... NO MORE WORDS!

  • THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE Rush. I've been listening to them since I wan 11yrs old. My sister took my to the Power Windows tour when I was 11, and I took my daughter to the Vapor Trails concert when she was 11. God Bless Neil Peart, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. I lOVE THIS BAND!

  • if you don't like the album, why are you listening to it? a lot of people don't like ANY of rush's stuff, so whatever. if you don't like it, listen to something else and post on some other useless youtube wall

  • This may sound funny to some, but I believe Signals is the best Rush album, and I've got my reasons.

  • @thepompousfrenchman Not funny to me at all. Great collection of songs! My favorite is the next album Grace Under Pressure.

  • @ xman51000 simple... the hall of fame cant handle the epicness that is RUSH.

  • I like this one to. I love most of their music...which is why I'm still a fan in 2011, even though I first became a fan in 1980. Here's a strange fact: even though I have loved their music since age 12 or 13 in 1980, and now I am 43, I have probably spent a total of maybe $600 - $700 on their stuff in total. I grew up poor and lower middle class, not one of the rich kids, but still, that's a "weird fact".

  • one of my favorites by rush, next to far cry

  • Wow, lay off the damn rap, it sucks. The only good rock rap mix up is Rage Against The machine, and a few select other. Rush, I love you, but shit is TERRIBLE! It sounds like it is trying to escape the 80's music scene, while incorporating shitty music from the 90's (which had great music, but the mainstream was TERRIBLE)

    Rush, never do this AGAIN!

Stick to what you do best, ROCK!

  • @aijunk2 You're an idiot. The rap in this song is satire.

  • @pajasper

You're the idiot here, bud. This album got terrible reviews for a rush album. Average rating was, 60 out of 100.

  • @aijunk2 Bud? What kind of redneck jackoff speaks that way? And yes you're the idiot if you listen to "reviews".

  • @pajasper

Shut up. This is one of the worst rush albums ever made. And saying so is just ignorant.

  • @aijunk2 I think you meant to say "and NOT saying so". Learn to speak English first! And stop projecting YOUR opinion as fact. Opinions are like a##holes and I am trading posts with one. The worst Rush album is Vapor Trails, in my opinion. And don't tell me to shut up cracker. I am not impressed.

  • @pajasper

I know how to WRITE English, if you want to be that picky. But anyways, this album is terrible! And for fuck sake, why are we arguing about "how bad Rush is"? Hell, Rush is one of the greatest, most influential bands of all time! See what I did there? I made an opinion, but everyone must respect it because these guys have talent!

  • @aijunk2 Dear Aijunk.I have reason to believe you are a computer troll. Now sir, I have read your comments regarding your feeling towards the roll the bones album and it is quite clear that you follow the media's opinion on good music and possibly more. This leads me to think that you have very low self esteem in your own judgements and rely on "higher" things to chose your decision for you, this proves how much of a little bitch you really are. You sir have been counter trolled. Good day to you

  • @ben2nd

Are you kidding me? I hate popular music. This ready here is a sellout itself, you hypocrite. Rush tried to be "rap" to get more fans. Come on, this sucks and you know it. Rush had SO many better albums. And it doesn't matter anyways, I'm more of a Radiohead, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis type of guy.

  • @aijunk2 And u believe that because the roll the bones album was written, produced and released in the early 90's, the period of time where rap music was becoming huge in USA and canada, that they only did it to gain more fans? well first off pal, bands are supposed to gain more fans so that there popularity can rise,2: have you even noticed that throughout the 42 years of rush, they have followed the modern music genre in their own way with their albums? Of course, u know rush personally yeh?

  • @ben2nd

Lol, that's called being a sellout. You know, where you change your sound to gain more fans and money.

Rush has really never sounded like this, look at their albums like, 2112, Moving Pictures.....etc, compared to this! To me and many other Rush fans, this album was definitely not one of their best! That's all i'm saying, okay.

  • @aijunk2 brother your look out on the term sellout is completely different to what it acctually is. For example: a sellout would be a struggling metal vocalist who is having no luck, suddenly getting offered a contract by simon cowel, btto sing pop songs for thousands of dollars, so the guy takes it coz of the money.. that is a sellout. Prog rock is never consistant so that argument is done, Are you going to blame queen for putting rap in we will rock you and call them sellouts? just enjoy music

  • @ben2nd

Okay, okay, I guess I got a little cared away with the frustration over this album. Yes, it is definitely not one of their best albums, can we agree open that?

  • @aijunk2 Rush never sold out? im sorry you dont appreciate good music bro. and lets put it this way. there is no other band like rush, and you hate mainstream? uh beatles and pinkfloyd are mainstream. and no matter what you say, youre wrong already

  • @razielct

Have you ever heard of the band, Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Stone Roses, Libertines, Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, The Smiths, XTC, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Band, Neil Young, etc....ever heard of them, punk? Bet not, because most of these guys are better than Rush, even though Rush is awesome. No mainstream here at all, fag. Anyways, I never meant to say rush was a sellout, all I'm saying is that this isn't THEIR greatest album. I know great music, you know mediocre.

  • @aijunk2 Let's see... Flaming lips sucks. Radiohead sucks. Stone Roses were dece. Libertines sucks. Arcade Fire really sucks. The Smiths were good. XTC sucks. Echo and the bunnymen had a good song. The Band was ok Neil Young is overrated. You're an idiot.
  • @EightBitRemixCentral

Haha, you're just being ignorant now. Just because I called this album gay. Dude, you're not a true rush fan if you actually like this album. It is bad, and they had MANY better ones. And no, none of the ARTISTS I said were bad, heck most of them are better than Rush. You're a prick.

  • @aijunk2

I never said I liked the album. It's a sell out album by all definitions. But those bands you listed suck.

  • @EightBitRemixCentral

Are you being a troll? Have you ever listened to any of them? My god, these artists I listed might be some of the best the last 20 years has seen. These bands for sure will be viewed like Pink Floyd and Rush one day when they pass the test of time; which for the most part, they have. Just stop being a troll, it's not working.

  • @aijunk2

I could see the Stone Roses being remembered. Thats about it.

  • @EightBitRemixCentral

Every one I have listed has been remembered. I know you're a troll, because the Smiths are remembered and they don't make albums. Almost all of Radiohead's album are praised, and Stone Roses are as of now remembered. The Velvet Underground are remembered, the list goes on!

  • @razielct

    The Beatles aren't mainstream.

  • @EightBitRemixCentral Where i come from, and the music in general, The beatles are mainstream, everyone has listened to them in their lives, there is no way in hell you can say the beatles aren't known

  • @aijunk2 They were making fun of rap...not trying to sell out and gain more fans. They were making fun at the rap craze that was sweeping the nation in the early 90's. You aren't a true Rush fan if you think this album "sucks". You can't even compare this to Moving Pictures or 2112. They changed their style multiple times....RTB was another transition perdiod for them. Rush has never sold out and never will.

  • @BigLotz15

I've already talked it out with this guy with other comments. I have agreed that this album is not too bad, but they definitely had way better.

  • @pajasper dude hes a troll and your taking the bait dont fall for it

  • funny, the timing ,after all these rolls, is nonwavy lady hair, but gentlemanish. becausewaycurese snake oil why go to south america and not bring back skull polyeaster ressurrection un der the gods must eCrazy

  • I love the lyrics to this song more than almost any other Rush song, but I think the music itself really lets them down. Except the chorus, that chorus is magical. Still an overally good song, but I prefer to just read the lyrics and make up my own tune to hum them to.

  • WORST RUSH SONG EVER!

  • @ContraCommando Hardly, that goes to "I think I'm going Bald"

  • rush is so cool and i am 14 years old. they are so cool!!!

  • scatman crothers played kick the can, kid

passionated drunken pride makes me say nola show was smirkworthy, alex is a ham hock.

also reminds me of detroit when it snowed

also reminds me of factory town vs. party town

    here comes flipper

the wash and breadth of the porpoises exhale

    depth and width of purpose

wake and swirl of such a held on tale

  • Why aren't they in the RRHOF? Because they're not.

    Roll the f$%&ing bones.

  • its live but i love it awsome the best band ever i dont care what noone says!!!!!:))))))

  • This doesn't sound like the version from the album, and sounds too clean to be live. Did they record another version?

  • @DiputsMonro This is live. Maybe it was enhanced a little by some studio production afterward, but who knows? Maybe not.

  • YEAH!!!!!!!!! THIS BAND SHOULD BE IN the ROCK IN ROLL HALL OF FAME!

  • My dad's always playing Rush songs and the beatles.

I am inlove with this song.

    I love rush. :)

  • How can u not mention la villa? or The Enemy Eithin, Witchhunt? YYZ? come on if ur gunna name the greatest tunes those must be included... obviously 2112 goes with out being listed.

  • @yah420 I literally couldnt even wittle down a top 20 list of Rush songs it's too hard haha but La Villa would definitely be towards the top. Im so glad they had it in the TM tour encore it gave me fuckin goosebumps.

  • @espChris93 I was wondering the same thing.

  • @espChris93 La Villa live in Rio is in my opinion their masterpiece, together with Freewill, YYZ, leave that thing, resist, red barchetta, limelight, and uhhhhh.... a couple of others

  • Comment removed

  • @wanshei

You forgot spirit of the radio, lime light, tears, earlywarning, show dont tell, and about 50 other rush songs ._.

  • Its geddy rapping.

  • I love this song.

  • its actually Geddy, he altered his voice/

  • @manofgod30 O_O he has a nice voice, I will say that.

  • who's doing the rapping here?

  • @Briankozmo Geddy Lee

  • @Briankozmo Geddy Lee according to Wikipedia sources

  • Actually it's Lifeson rapping

  • @MrRyan2112 It's Geddy .

  • is that really geddy lee rapping? (i remember buying this album the day it came out at tower records in philly. no idea what happened to it...but i don't remember who did the rapping in this song!)

  • Geddy Lee rapping makes me whince :{

  • @zzzfarcry It's right up there with that rapping dog from "Titanic: The Animated Movie"

  • @zzzfarcry

yeah, same with me the first few times. But it grew on me, and for some reason now the rap's surprisingly satisfying. At least for me.

  • this version sounds odd

  • @3xWink ... do you just go from video to video denigrating people to try and raise your self-esteem? What are you, pathetic?

  • I love the bass in this song!

  • My

    My Fav Sand!!!!!!

  • they have the best answer for million dollar Q. "why are we here". we're here because we're here

  • Why are we here...... Been asking myself that from day one.....Keep it goin Rush!!!!!

  • Some say that he was born holding a 72' Jazz bass, and that he is physically incapable of looking up. All we know is, he's called GEDDY LEE!

  • Why in the F$%# is this band NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame???????? That HOF did that means they have no taste

  • @xman51000 I really don't like the HOF at all.

Rush's music didn't sell out and its probably why.

Rush chose not to be media whores and heavily market their music. They wanted the true fans to listen to their music.. not for it to be forced on them.

If you haven't seen the dvd "Rush:Beyond the Lighted Stage" I highly recommend it!!

  • @FrancisDaBadAssBiker the problem isn't marketing your music, the problem is marketing your image

    that's what rush didn't do...

there's nothing wrong with marketing your music...as a musician, you want as many people to hear you as possible, neil wrote 1 of the 2 most profound lyrics on what you're saying ever

"one likes to believe in the freedom of music, but glittering prizes and endless compromises, shatter the illusion of integrity"

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 the other greatest one on that page is from tool

"all you know about me is what i've sold you

i sold out long before you ever even heard my name

i sold my soul to make a record

    dipshit, and you bought one

  • @banklikefrankwhite1 yea but just so u know Blender magazine rated neil peart the second worst lyricist of all time as did many critics

  • @ledzeppelin1710 oh...blender....the heavy metal magazine..can't imagine why they'd say that...

people that can't understand them, usually say that...i've heard the same thing said about zeppelin (which, although different, i don't agree with despite it always being about goblins and shit) it's a magazine...filled with people like you or me, that happened to go to college for the opportunity to spread their opinion in a publication...if you live by that, i feel sorry for you

  • @xman51000 Because they all agree the Rock and Roll hall of fame is a joke.

  • @xman51000 It is Because they are TOO GOOD to be in that pansy ass hall. Theyd make everyone else look like crap.

  • @xman51000

Especially since the RnR HOF is in Cleveland, the first U.S. city that gave them airplay when they were first starting out. WTF, indeed.....

  • @xman51000 It's a shame that they're not in the HOF. :(

  • @xman51000 They don't give a shit about it, they just want to spread their rock love. They were making music before it even existed. And besides, who knows what the future holds.

  • @xman51000 they aren't in the Hall of fame because their being inducted into the "Hall of HOLY SHIT!"

  • Thier best song! No wait Tom Sawyer! No ... wait um Red Barchetta! Naw lemme see - i got it Time Stand Still. Oh crap thats not it its um Fly By Night!. I know! I know - thier best song is Subdivision! Oh forget it they're all superfuckingbetterthananybodyelseshit. - GET BUSY

  • Rush = Creation of god

and this is coming from someone who doesn't believe in god.

  • Fav rush song!!!
