i bet you just look at numbers. his on the ball defense is excellent. you don't count someone's impact on defense by how mant steals or blocks they get. you look at things like ball denial, stopping penetration, boxing out, and communication.
I am one of the few people that dont care about steals and blocks and stuff, my preference is on-ball, in your face, contest the shot defense. I just haven't seen it with this guy. He did play in one of the worst conferences in college basketball and he still had lapses on defense, and they didn't get very far in the tournament. I know they always improve when they get to the NBA but I never like 6 "4 shooting guards that arent strong(like wade) they get bullied alot.
