his piano music always just sounds like tons of tin pan alley songwriting cliches + new age touches.. nothing interesting. his work with YMO is brilliant..
I was surprised to find that the top comment for such a beautiful song was about killing people whose musical tastes differ from one's own. Sure, it's a joke, but it's a petty one at that, and I think Mr. Sakamoto would be appalled that his music elicited such a response. I really don't understand this youtube culture of people who take differing opinions as personal insults. Just enjoy the music you love, and embrace that fact that it may not be everyone's cup of tea.
SEEING SAKAMOTO PLAY SOLO LAST YEAR IN SAN FRANCISCO WAS FAR BETTER THAN WHEN I SAW HIM PLAY WITH Y.M.O. A FEW MONTHS AGO.....AS A SOLO PERFORMER HE IS TRULY SUBLIME, ALTHOUGH I DON'T REMEMBER HIM SAYING A SINGLE WORD.......HE DIDN'T NEED TO.
I've always been fascinated by falling raindrops. On rainy days, now, I put on this song, and watch the rain fall, and the experience is sort of overwhelming, but in a positive way. I am immersed in a "Rain Meditation." Oh, sure, I probably should be concerned that my credit card balance is over by about $46,000.00. "Hey! Don't RAIN on my parade!" Heh, heh.
I thought it was quite good. Lot's of dynamic variation. I find the best way to listen for the quality is forget about the visual and just listen to the clarity in the notes. I liked his chord strikes on the piano. Clean and no harshness in the sound.
It's funny I haven't noticed that many black violinists. Lot's of black keyboardists, horn players, singers, etc. Maybe there are more out there. Anyway, he seemed quite good.
The Violin (female) is like arguing with the piano (male). From time to time, the violin talks louder with the piano whining while the piano later becomes dominant with violin backtalking (which females are very good at). At one point they are tired of the instense fight but someone started it again. The qurrel continues furiously but in the end both find problems couldn't be mended. So they leave from each other in sorrow.

@applegal3 You have GOT to be kidding. There is no such thing as passing one's hand through one's hair in 'stunning' fashion. It is an act of zero significance and/or meaning. Does that image 'set your heart afire'? Man! That is creepy! And folks agree w/you.

@derek4ur O_o Chill... I mean if people find it hot, doesn't mean you do. And if you don't, doesn't mean they don't as well. It's their own preference and if they find it hot, they find it hot. You can't do anything about that. No use getting worked up for nothing... Right?
PS: Your comment really was funny though... (Y) :DD
@applegal3 Yes, it is! You aren't easily impressed, are you?
