DESERT HEARTS will always be my "classic" in womyn's romance movies. Jokingly I say, "You aren't a card-toting lesbian until you've seen Desert Hearts"!

This movie was beautiful in so many ways: cinematography, musical score, the storyline is supreme and the acting, especially of Helen and Patricia, was superb!

Greetings from Rio de Janeiro, BRASIL. I fell in love with Patricia and DEMANDED that her name should be in the Movie Almanac. The publishers said she had not made many movies. But then I saw an entry for Shaun Cassidy and they accepted my argument that if Shaun was there, Patricia should be, too. They included her the next year. :)

How marvelllous to hear all these 3 marvellous women and to see our dearest "Vivian" and "Kay" again - thank you a LOT for sharing this precious interviews with us ! God, this movie means so much for me, it really moves me... In 1986, what a huge step it was : the very first happy ending for a lesbian movie ! It needs to be say again and again, to remember how grateful we can be and to celebrate it. Desert Heart will always keep a very special part in my heart, for it helped me a lot. THANKS !!

Hehehe, 5:41 someone's tummy growled :). Seriously though, I JUST got into this movie. I had always heard about it as a lesbian classic, so I have no clue why I never gave it a shot until now. I can just imagine watching it when I was a young babydyke, though. Man, I would've loved that. I'd have more of a crush on PC than I do now, & that's saying a lot!

Can someone tell me why a movie like Desert Hearts can have an uplifting storyline, while "Brokeback Mountain" is a tragedy? I think that this movie is just another example of more Hollywood bullshit.
