  • Really changed me upon first listen 1 year ago, put it right next to truth awakening reads/music/viewings.

  • despite all the setbacks, this provides hope to me of a brighter future for us all - in the dusk of the world we live in, how bright we shine!

  • if this is the future sound of music, than i want that future to come now)

  • strange, econorthwest suddenly showed up on my favorites list. just when i was about ready to give up on music altogether, something better comes along.

  • pure avant-garde

  • OMG! why did not find it earlier?? this is brilliant!

  • @bobbe

    sorry,you arrive too late...

  • marvelous! thank you for sharing

  • Wow. If I ever meet a girl who likes this as much as I do and then wants to listen to Bad Religion, the Dilliger Escape Plan, Neil Young and Pink Floyd I will consider making her my wife.

  • @bobbe79 okay. where do we get married?

  • Amazing! Can't stop dreaming!

  • @Septagotius yeah i see what you mean. The original lavendar town tune is trippy as hell, and its actually on youtube :D

  • This remind anyone else of lavender town?

  • If you like this, try "Boards Of Canada", for example "1969" "A beautiful place in the country" or "Everything you do is a balloon". You'll like it.

  • 9 people will not live to see the future.

  • what a soul-rending beautiful song...

or is this just the Jameson talking ...?

    :D

  • @scrapthrall

I love this song and I love this band, its heaven

  • Fantastic vocal!

  • ...but I like it more than once!

  • I really hope this is the future sound of music.... Ulver are the absolute pioneers of a future culture

  • shoutout to mitsuhiko, this is indeed triphop. Wicked

  • 3:59 - this phrase fills my mind with pure awesome.

  • Their music is brilliant, on so many levels

  • This band has such an ear for music, it's unreal. So impressed and I just started listening to their music recently.

  • @NoelKilledZombie

They have an ear for _sound_, more importantly. : )

Which is the best foundation for having an ear for music.

This fact is being overlooked more and more these days, and I do mean even in the more "underground" sectors of music--all genres. : /

I mean...compare this with say....Dragonforce. The 'ear for sound" step got skipped, there. : /

  • Probably my favorite song ever

  • Brilliant song, one of the greatest i ever heard...Ulver is amazing band !!!!!

  • I'm usually into ambient and drone but that track is mindblowing... 6 minute long goosebumps!

  • @TylerSpirit

    Good description.

  • @Gallaxe You have a very good point.

  • Goddamn this is a great song

  • sound effects plz?

  • this is tremendous

  • ulvers good at music

  • Oh my god.... blew me away.

  • simple but very fitting, man. Well done!!!

  • don't care for the future if this is it...lol

  • well, i guess music is not so screwed up after all.

  • what picture is that in 0:52 ?

  • Love this SO much!

  • First listen through, @4:01 ... Holy shit!

    Awesome track.

  • i always love it how you can think your up on your music game and then come across a band like ulver that takes you back to square one

  • Not many bands can pull off dramatic music changes, but Ulver definitely defies that in my opinion.

  • @AK4769er Yah, it amazes me how they went to the complete opposite end of the musical spectrum and still sounded awesome.

  • Ulver is interesting when it comes to music. On the black metal side, they are one of the only black metal bands I actually like, and on the electronic/ambient side I love them, too. They have classics from both eras. Not many bands can change their sound so drastically and still sound great (if not, better).

  • Well if this is the sound of the future, I want to live there now.

  • whoah they passed from black to this XD ... the only exemple could be the "Anathema" change form Doom to the sound of "A natural disaster"

And both of them are still making good music =)

  • @ballersack everyone hates people like you

  • @fnm1991

Most people suck, so thats not such a bad thing.

  • Holy shit, I got goosebumps...

  • why do yousay this is zatanic and all those things lol ??

    god, im relaxing o_O

  • it's like a swan dive into the spaces between.

  • feel lke flying in galaxy ^^

  • ....amazing song.

  • Beautiful <3

  • good music always

  • From 4.00 and on is so fuckin good! Can anybody recommend songs like that?

  • excellent!

  • .... man, how i love this.

  • 6 people dislike this what the fuck?

  • @subhumanmaster 6 people with inverted brain

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck approval, love music!

  • I just keep wondering why people get pissed off when bands move away from style to style. It's up to them to decide, you don't like the new turn? Then just leave and close the door. If I were the artist, I have the right to do what I want with MY skills.

    Just my 2 cents.

And BTW Ulver are something superior, in all directions they went.

  • @zydzidogazu well you like wharhammer 40k but the main question is, do you play the minature game?

  • Trust me. Under cocaine (or a lot of hard weed), you're in another world for real.

  • or even without it , you can be in another world for real. Reality is the most psycotropic substance.

  • 4:00 to 5:35 is so powerful in an abstract brutal yet beautiful way usually industrial, gabber, or noise is considered brutal electronica i guess but this crushing in a very emotional way they found it's crushing but not in a primarily aggressive way

    "brutal trip hop" lol

  • i fucking love ulver. amen.

  • And Satyricon? Do you think they're as good as they were doing "mainstream Black Metal"? When a band gets to a masterpiece (like "Nattens Madrigal") and it can't do better, the better choice is... to change you style.

This album is the proof that they made the right one.

  • Rather odd turn of events.

  • Pure Genius

  • perdition city= their greatest work, with all the others in a tight second.

  • 6 bit music for human brains made by goblins while taking drugs to give the piss back to einstein after dreaming of an old woman that kisses an happy dog

  • from 3:06 - to 4:00 and then is all in one word - extasy

  • Let me suggest another one : dream.

  • !!!!!!!!!!!! fantastic!

  • Bloody magic!

  • shutupwomangetonmyhorse__

  • dis is da 6it

  • One of my favorite Ulver songs!

  • Nice work on the slideshow I must say.

I'm also glad I ordered the Perdition City album today (along with their Nattens Madrigal album)

  • make that the Kveldssanger album...not Nattens Midrigal.

  • From what I understand this band started out as a metal band and evolved into this new sound...gotta say this is an improvement

  • Started off as a two-man black metal band and evolved into this. Search for "Nattens Madrigal" and hear what they sounded like originally. All good stuff, and all great in the name of progression.

  • their metal was masterful and so is thier electronic stuff, just brilliant musicians in general and very versitile

  • *tragika

    :P

  • @M3talouda

    Alla poly ligo :(

  • this song is very asome... but ulver must some day do a ft. with tito el bambino... what do u think of this??

  • No, but I'd recommend it :P

  • I listen to this tune when I feel depressed. It oddly enough makes me feel better. I love the slide show of the galaxy, the sky and the setting sun, especially the timing of those images to the music.

  • is there any way that I could use this audio for a school project?

  • Such a gorgeous slideshow, thanks.

  • Elvar - Listen to Rome

  • EARGASM!!!!!

  • i really like the later ulver stuff, can some one recommend me some other artist that i might like?

  • Atomica, THE 3RD AND THE MORTAL, This Mortal Coil, Cocteau Twins, Sephiroth, Throbbing Gristle and industrial music in general, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio and many artists from Cold Meat Industry Records. etc...

  • Also, check out Garm's other bands like Head Control System, and some Arcturus. In addition to the other list check out the bands Coil and Slowpho. Also, you should listen to soundtracks made by Tomandandy. They do music for major films and they actually used a sample from Ulver's song "Gnosis" in a track used in a film

  • Coś pięknego. Nie zdawałem sobie sprawy że Ulver potrafi przybliżyć mnie do wieczności...

  • I remember listening to this song while stoned, just sitting, watching the colors shifting... Couldn't turn my eyes away, and it lasted for a lifetime.

  • This song is music for my ears, Ulver is a magnificent unique band

  • Timelessly drifting harmony

  • Voice of relax =)

  • One of the few pieces of 2000s electronic music I like.

  • I read about them, thought "how can you move from black metal to ambient & trip hop, how stupid is that", than I came here to listen to their stuff. This song swallowed me... i'll never forget this

  • I AGREE!!!!!!

  • they're the only metal band i know of that changed their style AND gained the approval of their fans

  • That's because ulver somewhat changed genre, but still maintained their delicate brilliantness, not an easy feat for most musicians.

  • Comment removed

  • @cardboarddalek I agree completely. While I do prefer their Black Metal albums to this, they have yet to release an album, in ANY genre, that disappoints me. They're fucking musical geniuses, plain and simple.

  • @ProphetWolf lol cheers man, amazing band.

  • @cardboarddalek THe thing is they did awesome Black Metal. And awesome electro ambient too

  • @Keketteparty And all of Garm's musical projects are unique and excellent in their own way

  • @cardboarddalek There's also the band Empyrium. I recommend checking out their stuff, like the song Waldpoesie or Under Dreamskies.

  • @LEG0B0Y I know of Empyrium, however I, regrettably, haven't listened to them much; I will endeavour to try more of their music

  • @cardboarddalek Don't forget about Anathema and Katatonia ;)

  • @DanielBassPlayer1990 Two excellent bands of course, but Ulver moved away from metal completely and I haven't seen one negative comment on their progression or any of their songs, old or new, and I see that as quite a feat.

  • @cardboarddalek .... moove away frome metal ....... anything that is living ....mooves . Only the money suckers are sticking to a gender or to " anything that pays cash" . Mony & life are opposit stuff.

  • @BOOOZB Good point, but I doubt the trilogy was meant to be a huge money maker xD

  • @cardboarddalek Anathema did the same

  • Ulver is one of my favourite bands and this song is just awesome..

  • Just take cocaine and you'll wake up in another life.

What a song, we're in another world ...

  • It DOES become interesting at 4:00.
