I don't know why, but the move seems to come out some times, and most times it just don't, even though I do the same movement...the forward dash is easy, but the backdash it's making me mad...

Any notion as to what the hell is going on when the move seems to come at random?

@calvinfoo: yes it is easier to perform this move with DB additional, but i think what SonicFlash122 said is the true input. I do it my self like this DB, B, UB+K, B, DB+FA, Pause, B, F, B, F+PPP work easier for me. Thank's great vid and sorry for my bad english.

Not sure if someone pointed it out already, but with forward dash, if you delay the dash for a split second then they'll land right on the SH.

But as you stated, backdash is superior in most cases anyway.

I have the execution of this down, the problem I'm having is the opponent has dropped too far out of the air and the Sonic Hurricane barely misses. I think it might be because I'm waiting slightly too long to back dash and finish the input. Right now I hit this technique with about a 1:3 success rate, any suggestions?

People have asked if this is possible on a regular controller, and I have personally verified that it is. I have only done one thing different from SonicFlash122 about the inputs: DB, B, UB+K, UB+FA, Pause, B, F, B, F+PPP.

I was able to execute the move in this way. The only thing that is different is that when doing the focus attack I use Up+Back, the same Up+Back that is pressed when performing the flash kick.

@hydroponikz Im afraid that it has to be B and not DB. I wish it was easier but it is what it is. After you do it a couple of times you will be able to do it like it's just a sonic boom or flash kick no joke. I haven't practiced SSF4 in months and I can still pull this off consistently in practice mode. Just keep working man.

Once you have that, just make sure you're using diagonal back to flash kick, and you're still keeping the charge when you start the focus, and it's gravy from there.

Man, I finally got it. I know everyone is going to run into their own issue for this, but here's what helped me.

Practice JUST doing the focus, back-dash, to the ultra in training. Don't even worry about it hitting, just make sure you can get the ultra to come out after a back-dash consistently. It gives you an understanding of how the ultra is supposed to come out after the back dash, which kind of helps you understand the pause part after the flash kick. Continued...

For practicing, it's fun to do Flash Kick > FADC > Shades of Glory. Good way to taunt if you don't have Ultra, or if you really want the shades on.

This is definitely possible on a regular controller, because I just did it! I did do something different from how sonicflash122 instructs. After the flash kick, instead of holding Back and MP+MK to do the Focus Attack, I continue to hold the Up+Back that was pressed when executing the flash kick.

I hope that makes sense. Check out this user's video Ronster822. I watched him do it on a regular controller to help me figure it out.

@pmarc65 Practice phase 3 a lot and you should fix this problem. The input is done right when Guile finishes his dash. So after the back dash, you should be finishing your input and pressing the punch button within the next 1 or 2 frames.

I'm posting this information for anyone out there having problems, for I think I have an easier method. I was recently having problems with the slight pause, then continue the B,F,B,F+PPP to get the SH. I've solved that problem by finding IMHO a slightly easier method. I simply hold UB after I've performed the FK motion, then focus attack, then dash backward, then F,B,F+PPP.

What further helped me make it even easier was that when I FADC'd out of the FK, instead of pressing F,B,F+PPP, I did a HCB,F motion+PPP. It works man. Again, this is simply my opinion, but perhaps someone out there could use this info. I guess it comes down to finding out what works best for you. I think my problem is doing the SH after the canceling the FA. I even break the training into 5 phases as the forth one being B+FA, B (cancel FA), F,B,F + PPP. I tried to do the SH out of a FADC (back dash) by itself and it's a pain to execute. I probably have a 25-30% chance in pulling it. Do you have any tips for that.

By the way I learned how to do FADC into ULTRA 1 from your tutorial. You are the man..keep it up.

Question: Doesn't the Up/Back motion count towards the backdash motion? It seems to work for Down/Forward counting towards the forward dash in Ryu's SRK, FADC, Ultra well enough.

@Monsterer30 Hmmm. I haven't had this problem but I think too long of a pause might be the case. Is the opponent just falling to the ground just shy of the ultra or is it just not coming out? Every time I've done this in training and the ultra animation starts, its connected. Its probably the pause like you said though.
