I'm still kind of cloudy about the difference between them. Perhaps more examples of high context transactions would elucidate the difference between the two types of culture.
@Aritul I hear ya ! Unless, one understands each cultural gnomes...what's the point of deciphering between low & high context communication skills? For example, if one goes to Germany or Japan and doesn't know what's culturally accepted there (established gnomes), then one is bound to create friction with anyone there. This is confusing to me, too.
Excellent! I have used Hall's High-Low Context ideas for 20+ years teaching Westerners and Chinese how to work and live together. Noiw in Canada, my Chinese wife still uses, and demands I use, High Context "polite" communication whereas our teenage daughter, though born in China raised mostly here, excels in Low Context, direct and efficient communication. Luckily I am comfortable with both, so end up being the arbiter during our dinner table conversations.
Maslow does a great job of explaining the typography of low and high context cultures. You will find most high context cultures in Asia and the Middle east and like the video said, low context in Europe and the United States. You will find socieities with high context to also be collectivist cultures with high power distance and masculinity. Excellent video.

I also think the music is too loud but the quality of the sound is good
The voice is pleasant and the accent is easy to understand.
There is a lack of concrete examples to clarify the message.
