The main point wasn't how well she read or understood Italian, though it had to contribute to anxiety, but the way they coerced her into believing that she had forgotten events.

I started feeling a little uncomfortable and so I grabbed the mop from out closet and left the house, closing and locking the door that no one had come back through while I was in the shower, and I returned to Raffale's place. There was also blood smeared on the faucet. Again, however, I thought it was strange, because my roommates and I are very clean and we wouldn't leave blood in the bathroom, but I assumed that perhaps Meredith was having menstrual issues and hadn't cleaned up yet. ew, but nothing to worry about. I left the bathroom and got dressed in my room.
After I got dressed I went to the other bathroom in my house, the one that Filomena and Laura use, and used their hairdryer to obviously dry my hair and it was after I was putting back the dryer that I noticed the shit that was left in the toilet, something that definitely no one in out house would do.
I undressed in my room and took a quick shower in one of the two bathrooms in my house, the one that is right next to Meredith and my bedrooms (situated right next to one another). It was on the mat I was using to dry my feet and there were drops of blood in the sink.

Anyway, so the door was wide open. Strange, yes, but not so strange that I really thought anything about it. I assumed someone in the house was doing exactly what I just said, taking out the trash or talking really quickly to the neighbors downstairs. So I closed the door behind me but I didn't lock it, assuming that the person who left the door open would like to come back in.

People with brains who have read the sentencing report know exactly why she was convicted the first time, she was involved. She lied, she fingered an innocent man and didn't recant (he was released when a witness came forward a couple weeks later). There is plenty of blood evidence and investigators know a clean up effort when they see one. Lumumba thinks she is a guilty actress for sure and is suing her, he will likely win. At least she did four years, time served for slandering him.

@bakersteven3 - Guede's DNA was NOT low count number samples. There was not the extreme extrapolation used on Bra clasp. The interpretation of results wasn't controversial either. He acknowledged having Nike shoes. They had his phone calls implicating himself. None for Amanda. The amazing thing is anyone that thinks he isn't guilty. The evidence on him isn't controversial, only points to one person. It is sick to try to make him out as a martyr and those with NO evidence as guilty .

I remember a British girl getting a biased trial in the USA, with months and months of biased material BEFORE her trial; her name was Louise Woodward. First trial, she spoke English, 2nd Italian. No way did she have a good understanding what she was signing, no one to make sure she did. She believed she was still being asked to help figure out the killer. What did she do? She wrote her own statement doubting the "facts" the police told her were true.

By 1st trial she did speak it quite well but still required interpretor and often assistance with questions. Didn't need to speak Italian to meet Raffaele, that's pretty funny. The main point wasn't how well she read or understood Italian, though it had to contribute to anxiety, but the way they coerced her into believing that she had forgotten events.

The "interpretor" told her that she had been traumatized and probably didn't remember. They successed in confusing her to the point that she began to believe the police lies. The police said it was "Patrick", she said, "OK, it was Patrick". She described it as being given a path (led) into the statement of the 6th.

As far as "not proven", the court didn't rule innocent for lack of evidence, they ruled innocent because she didn't do it.

I have gone over all the evidence and motivation reports. I didn't follow this case until day of the verdict because I have been outside the US for 3 years.
Spend a lot of time on JREF blog site. Seems to have best discussion that the moderators fight to keep it from completely onesided.
If I am blind, then Hellmann must be even more so since he had 100% access to all testimony, evidence.

People with brains who have read the sentencing report know exactly why she was convicted the first time, she was involved. She lied, she fingered an innocent man and didn't recant (he was released when a witness came forward a couple weeks later). There is plenty of blood evidence and investigators know a clean up effort when they see one. Lumumba thinks she is a guilty actress for sure and is suing her, he will likely win. At least she did four years, time served for slandering him.
