  • All these comments, there is no hate, no malice, no bad blood, we have come together as 1, allies, brothers in arms. We must never forget those who died in that awful war, those who gave their lives for nothing, it is up to us, the next generation, to make sure they are always remembered.

  • Every comment is lovely and says that we are all peaceful and friendly, whatever country we life in.

It is wonderful to see that.

    Greetings from Germany

  • So inspiring :)

    Peaceful greetings from the USA.

    We're not all bad I promise ;)

  • On this subject I have in history held a presentation and get 2 +. This is the second best grade, you can get in Germany.

    Peaceful greetings from Germany.

  • The best lines......

My name is Francis Tolliver, in Liverpool I dwell. Each Christmas come since World War I, I've learned its lessons well: That the ones who call the shots won't be among the dead and lame And on each end of the rifle we're the same.

  • En god hilsen fra norge!

We norwegians have fought for both sides, but we all agree for one thing.

Peace is the best way of living your life!

  • Ein wundervolles Lied. Ich wünschte es gäbe mehr davon.

  • The people do not want war! But they are having to suffer the war.

  • God bless them. It so sad how they had a friendship for one night but then had to go back to hating eachother. None of them were evil, they were just doing what they had to, they were all sons, brothers, fathers, friends. Why has this not taught the world against the war? Why are we still fighting? This truce should prove that there is not a need. May 2011 bring us peace, and prevent all these brave young men from all over the world from dying in vain. Lest we forget.

  • @adahpfan Actually this truce lasted a couple day's.

  • Amazing. Ordinary people all over the world are the same and get on with each other, except when their political or religious leaders poison their minds against each other. We need to be more careful choosing our leaders and listening to what they tell us.

  • In fact... we are all friends now... France, England and Germany... and we are

standing on the right side... brothers in arms..

    merry christmas to all

  • @ridem25

best vid i see ever on youtube

merry x-mas from germany to all my brothers in the world

  • Merry christmas to all... a great song and a great tribute to our grandfathers from all countries beeing involved in world war I. Many thanks for that fine song...

From Germany with my best wishes for christmas espacially to England and France.

  • This is the only youtube video I have ever seen that makes me cry!

  • It seems to me..this event made our Lord smile :)

  • @GregnCathy It damn near brought me to tears...

  • excellent video...very well done

  • i think this song shows that we all can get along together, no matter where we come from and what our differences are ! the christmas truce was a great event of our common history...

so today is christmas eve and i just wanna wish everybody regardless where he or she is from a merry christmas especially the people from england and france cause im from germany (so pls don't mind me if there are a couple of mistakes) and i hope our nations can live in fraternity forever !

  • @Kpkanull You sir along with every other talking of this subject have brought tears to my eyes. Merry christmas to you and your family this year and forever on!

  • Brilliant, thanks for posting this.

  • Tears fill my eyes. All wars destroy so many people, not just the fallen. Started this evening by looking up and watching to Mike Harding's 'Bombers Moon' which I saw 20 odd years ago and it brought a lump to my throat then as it surely did tonight, but there is so much feeling out there that I watched through many vids till I found this. So much do we owe. Remember !

  • so mooving!

  • it's a lot like "Christmas 1914" by Mike Harding, and the song is actually called "Christmas in the Trenches" and sung, as someone has already said, by John MacDermott.

In 1914 there were in fact several such occasions, as the soldiers had not yet had much reason to hate their "enemy". That had changed by Christmas 1915, due to the murderous antics of incompetent and callous leaders on both sides of the lines ...

  • so amazing yes who is it that sings this song?!

  • who sings this? I have listened to it every day! Its amazing! And is there a story behind the song? Like, did someone actually have these experiences?

  • this is such a beautiful story. i told my class of 14 year olds about it and played the song for them. they were completely enthralled.

  • Soon all of the Big War veterans will be gone. We are already losing veterans from the second war. May they all rest in peace.

  • Peace to all

  • Merry Christmas!

  • And when he gets to Heaven,

To St. Peter he will tell:

    One more soldier reporting sir,

I've served my time in Hell.

  • why was nt it the end of the war???

  • The first version I heard was by Mike Harding. I still like it best. I still have it and it's tagged as - Full version. Thanks!

  • was that real

  • yes

  • bravo

  • T_T

  • Beautiful. They gave their today for our tomorrow. Lest we forget.

  • @dunbomin hey dude! such touching words you said...

  • this song touches deep plus this guys voice is the perfect voice to sing this song.

  • ...und Gott gebe uns all Seinen Segen....

  • Thanks for your efforts in presenting this song & story.

  • This shows in war then can be Sanity

  • This is a wonderful video and a good message speaks to my heart. I am a veteran and I was both glad and proud to serve my country.

  • Unfortunately, this type of truce will never happen again. Peace and unity is great, but there will always be evil men in this world. And so, unfortunately, there will always be war. Those who don't fight evil will become victims and casulties of it.

  • If you don't pick up a rifle, there will be no more war.

  • Terrorists know no truces... God Bless and Protect our Brave men and women fighting the WOT. Merry Christmas to All.

  • "...gas cloud rolled no more..."

For those who aren't aware of the reference, it was about the chlorine gas that used to be released into the trenches, that killed many-a-soldier.

  • Wonderfull! When do the brothers (England, Canada, USA, French, Germany aso)come to sin and stop hating each other?

We spilled enough blood from our own kind. Its time for us to unite and fight those who are trying to divide and threat us.

Peace and Merry Christmas to all of you!

  • You are right!

Merry Christmas to all of you

    and Greetings from germany :)

  • Merci d´ajouter ce vidéo sur YT.

    Frohe Weihnachten aus Deutschland.....)) !!

  • When will peace prevail?, even hapless soldiers saw the need for peace. a well written, well performed tribute to peace. Merry Christmas everybody.
