  • 56 people have no soul....

  • I like how our chief solution to all this is to give them all free college educations, which would be expensive if we didn't know in advance that so few of them would go to college.

  • thank you so very much for this very respectful video... blessings to you! see you on the magnificent side...

  • After the Abrahamic 'Faiths' Capitalism is the Biggest Scam in Human History.

  • The USA is the most hated nation on history. I hate you too.

  • well Aaron...there is a simple solution that can left the people on Pine Ridge up. It's called farming !!...OF HEMP...!! they should be able to grow what they want on their own land !!! Hemp farms would create jobs and trade with outsiders !! clothing, shoes, building materials, paper, soap, food can all come from Hemp.. as it restores the earth !

after all your constitution was written on Hemp paper !! so if you really want to help..Hemp is the answer !! research why this is NOT happening !

  • @914light

one thing, did the natives have any input on the constitution? We were "Sovereign Nations" NOT A PART OF THE united states.

  • @sillyhappyguy ..of course the indigenous had input on the constitution ! and oh how I WISH that were true for all indigenous tribes to be "sovereign nations" ..but the sad fact is is NOT true!!

  • How can it be that at the place where everything ended now is such poverty. People who was responsible for that had to give to these american natives much more than they have for what they done to them!

  • Just... thank you Aaron Huey's. With love, peace and respect. Thank you.

  • Thank you Aaron Huey's

  • Your heart would break for these people. To see a once proud nation reduced to this is a terrible thing. Why is it that Americans don't feel shame? Why is it that they do nothing to right this wrong? America would do better to look inwards for a change.

  • very good video Lonewolf4540

  • Powerfull Talk - thanks Aaron if you ever read these comments :)

  • ITS A SHAME THAT A PEOPLE WHO CLEARLY HAD UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR ENVIROMENT GOT OVERUN BY PEOPLE WHO WERE SO BLINDED BY THE PURSUIT OF PROFIT THAT THEY NEARLY KILLED EVERYTHING OR ANYONE WHO GOT IN THEIR WAY, BUT FEAR NOT AS THIS PATH IS UNSUSTAINABLE THE EARTH WEEPS AND SLOWLY PEOPLE ARE AWAKENING TO THE IGNORANCE THEY HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO, SO STOP VOTING,STOP WATCHING TV,STOP THE THE WAR,STOP PRAYING AND START THINKING REDISCOVER YOURSELF AND RESPECT MOTHER NATURE IT TOOK ME A WHILE AWAKEN

  • to little too late

  • it's sad. it's nothing new that the U.S. usurped that culture from its freedom and forced the natives' circular pegs into the U.S.'s square holes (of artificial, unsustainable dependencies manufactured and sold by U.S. of course).

    comparable to what hitler did.

  • Listen up! These people are trying live like us.. and blames us for their lack of technological advances.. If they want to live like their indigenous relatives than they need to accept that their relatives were NOT advanced.. why would they be now?

N.A. were doing better off in Teepee's so either stick with "your way" and be stuck in the past.

Or heres the solution. BECOME PART OF AMERICA AND SELL YOUR LAND.

Be poor and die early, or move to a new area.

    I know.. its rocket surgery.....

  • @sdrawkcabnipyt what do u know about losing land that your people worshiped, and then had it stolen? and where do u suggest these people go? to go get jobs with their lack of education? fuck your America, it stole more than our land; it stole our culture and way of life, and You're saying "man up" after you're ancestors raped mine? btw your so called ADVANCED amercica massacred innocent people as a symbol to the rest of us Indians. Now your saying either become apart of us or die... no thanks...

  • Comment removed

  • @Gotalighter Be a part of our industrializing society, or do it how your ancestors did.

  • @sdrawkcabnipyt shit, wish i could go back to those days... oh well guess we'll just have to do our thing our way then. Props for not getting all bitchy like most people i argue with about this controversial stuff. I don't wanna fight u or nothing, but it feels wrong when people who have no idea about whats going on with my people, and yet still try and give advice.. its like saying to a blind man that if he wore sunglasses he would at lest wouldn't look blind...

  • @Gotalighter I only say this because it upsets me to see the kids in that area. I know tradition is huge, more so in different cultures than others. I know its not right, but its not going to change. You guys are fighting something for the moral of it.. but your children that just want to have fun and be healthy are suffering. I wouldn't stick through any kind of pride if it meant I would be jeopardizing my children's health to do it.

    I just couldn't.

  • @sdrawkcabnipyt

..... their people were the victim of GENOCIDE, white colonialists attempted to wipe out their culture. You -- amazingly enough -- are attempting to REINFORCE this mind frame by insinuating that in order to be 'American' they should be forced to give up their culture and land once again to white Americans. What utter bullshit. The land has always legally been theirs, why on earth should they be forced to give it up to the white people who forced them into this situation?.....

  • @ScouseCaspaXS Tell me their other options......... now dont give me lip.

  • Comment removed

  • @nupa1000 Is there something wrong with making money? Nobodies trying to make you think anything.. they're writing about a video they just watched, on a comment thread about it, instead of asking stupid questions on it.

    Cheers!

  • I am Oglala. My grandmother was born on the rez and moved later to Seattle. We are from Wounded Knee and Rosebud. What you are doing moves me and makes me both happy and sad. To see the conditions my family lives in to this day moved me to tears in the middle of class when I first discovered your photographs and this speech. But to see a Wa'sichu devoting his life to our cause makes my heart soar. You are not a wa'sichu as your skin leads us to believe. You are a brother. Thank you.

  • what happened 130 years ago is happening today, in tibet, where the chinese government is actively working to impoverish native tibetans and utterly destroy their culture by making it seem "backwards, antiquated, and uncivilized". and really, no one seems to care that this culture is vanishing through violence, referendums, and assimilation.

  • ---Sniffs---

    Smells trolls.

  • Ok...so my Great great grandfather might have been a real asshole to some native americans...and Im supposed to feel really bad because Im related to this guy who i never met and from whom Ive inherited white skin? I say bullshit. I will not take responsibility for something I did not do. All I can do now is offer them the best of what we have: public school systems, medical care, etc. If they dont want it, thats their prerogative, and they can have their own guilt about refusing it. (cont)

  • Yes, what my ancestors did was abhorrent. But guess what? Thats what happens to ALL nations that are conquered. They are either assimilated or destroyed or both. The sioux find themselves in the unique predicament of being neither destroyed or assimilated, and Im supposed to feel terrible about the fact that their schools suck and medical facilities are insufficient because their pride and spite refuses to let them take advantage of a modern western system...(cont)

  • All I hear when I hear these stories is the fallout from several bad military decisions on both sides. If either side had the ability 100 years ago to wipe out the other group or send them packing, thats what they should have done, because now all you have is both sides still around, one defeated but with enough weight to still bitch, moan, and get white people to feel guilty for being born that way. Really disturbed by your current state of affairs, but you have the ability to get out of it.

  • @ThoughtfulAtheist Dont be a fool. They chose to keep their culture i dont see why you feel they should assimilate. If china conquered the ??US would you assimilate? Stupid fucker. You feel the same way about religion so why not this?

  • @avok23 They can keep their culture AND assimilate. Their culture is not dependent on land...their pride is. And yeah, if china conquered the US, i would have no choice. I would either assimilate or be killed. My choice? Id assimilate. You can die for your country all you want...and ill be the one who lives on and gets to call you a stupid fucker.

  • @ThoughtfulAtheist You are naive. The best of what you have? Public school? How would you feel if you festered such hatred for over a hundred years and was offered such a flimsy solution?

  • @avok23 Id suck it up, do what I could with what I had, and get on with my life.

  • @ThoughtfulAtheist But thats be cause you are the product of your environment. The one that helped you build a defiant character. You werent brought up to be tought as cheated weak inferior.

  • @avok23 What a liberal shit-stain you are. You don't know how the fuck I was brought up (FYI I was brought up by puss-bags like yourself). My "defiant character" comes from life experiences and my dealings with people, not from parental conditioning. Its because I actually have my own brain, and I would encourage everyone else to try finding theirs as well. Your pitying of these people does NOTHING for them...their self pity does NOTHING either...give a man a fish/teach a man to fish, etc etc...

  • @ThoughtfulAtheist Well dude its funny how you think i am a liberal. Being slightly compassionate is by no means a liberal traint. I',m not even fucking American either. I dont know how you were brought up but i am sure you might have been inspired by poeple. You werent brought up in a shit hole with your grand-parents feeding you negativity all your fucking life. I agree wit hthe fish analogy but there hasnt been much done to make them want to grab that rod.

  • @avok23 See thats the thing...you think you're being compassionate--youre not. You're pitying them and encouraging their self pity, which as I said before, does NOTHING for them. Thats not compassion, thats sympathy. Compassion is realizing that you cant change the past and the best possible thing these people can do for themselves is to move on, assimilate, keep their culture, keep their land, get an education, get some healthcare, get some power, and be productive members of western society.

  • @avok23 All they think about is the hurt. Do you not think its ok just to help them get over that? Atleast the kids. The next generation. Help them stay in school longer

  • @avok23 Pitying them is not going to help them get over that. I hate to use this analogy, but it works and is accurate: when a small child hurts his/herself (but not very seriously), it is VERY common that they do not cry unless someone is there to pity them, show sympathy, etc. The only reason these people are crying about the past now, is because there are people like you listening to it and giving it credence. You want these people to get over it, (cont)

  • ...the right move is to say to them "yes, your people got screwed a lot in this country. But those were your ancestors, not you. You can control your own destiny if you take life by the horns. Learn from their experiences, and learn your culture, but do not seclude yourself from the surrounding society because you are only punishing yourself at that point. Whats done is done and you cannot change the past, but you can make the sioux a great people once again if you get a good education."

  • @ThoughtfulAtheist I agree with you completely but you assume i am that familiar with their history. The first time you see the full magnitude all that hits you first is some kind of shock. Hopefully they are as ready to change as you are willing to help. This has been the most sane debate i have ever had on youtube :P

  • why dont they build a casino? the Chumash out here in Ca for example are/have been making BANK ..

  • The points he makes are all fair, but in all honestly, I don't like some of his photos. I do like most of them, but the ones that are overprocessed HDR ones are just crappy... The rest? Those are actually pretty darn amazing, and it's a shame such a collection of photos is ruined by some overprocessed ones...

  • 1/12/2011 ~ Yes. Honor the Treaties! Give Back the Black Hills! Let all Americans and all humane beings witness this Video, share it with others who have a good heart and a sound mind.

Blessings to Our Brother Aaron Huey! We need to come together as one humane family because all of us are of an endangered species!

    ~Namaste, Che Peta_de_Aztlan

  • @PetadeAztlan And then do we give the seminoles florida? Do we give the west to the Pueblo? What of the people who own that land now? Strip them of the land they own and work? What is the end-game?

  • Thank you for your Empathy, thank you for telling. I have added this to a growing article I published in August 2010. In my open appeal to President Obama.

  • I suppose I don't understand his "TED" wish at the end. The sovereignty of the Lakota is presently a non-issue in the decline of their society. The damage to the wars, murders, and treaty violations are (as he admits) far in the past. Redrawing a few lines on the US map seems to be a cop-out when coming up with ways of making real a difference in the lives of these people.

  • Ref: Guilt trip? maybe some know their history, some even learn by it, but unfortunately some don't. S.A. British concentration camps ''THE BITTER ENDERS'', the Boer war. The Turkish post WW1 genocide aka ''Armenian Holocaust''. Australian eugenic neutering and continued Aboriginal maltreatment. The Mapuche extermination by the Spanish (Papist's & ''The Mission'') The Jewish Holocaust and the ongoing Palestinian forced Exodus. Looking in the mirror can be a painful reflection on us all.

  • Смерть оккупантам МИРА!

  • @CultureJamtheNWO Like these peoples and many cultures before us, this is spawn of Class Hierarchy and the Economy as we see fit. To say Poor people stay poor or choose to live that way is disgusting. Do you think that a child born onto a Reservation, growing up in that lifestyle chooses to live that way? It's all they know, so it's their fault? If it's all you know, is it wrong? You pass judgement ignorantly, is it wrong? If all you know is ignorance towards your fellow man is it wrong?

  • @CultureJamtheNWO The Superior Culture (in this case U.S.A, Canada and the Christian Church) denied them the right to be themselves.First they stole their land because to the Superior Culture a "Savage" has no rights, then they tried to kill them and their soul..Maybe you have heard about Indian Boarding Schools and "kill the indian, save the child". The result was an hybrid, desperate unhappiness and lot of mental confusion that still brings many young people to suicide, not only alcoholism..

  • @ 11:18

TUPAC - The great Native American prophet...GRAFFITI IN THE HOUSE???

He has a pool table at least, every oppressed person needs a pool table, but how can you play when it's covered in your own filthy clothes and junk???

I see a good spare tire, but don't those belong on the car?

Why is it in the living room?

"The white man" loves to come and throw junk in these people houses...

    @ 11:35 - wonderful spiderweb tattoo bra..

He might be a loser, but at least he remembered his MOM.

  • Again:

@ 11:16 Two cracked out losers share a flop house...lets give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are disenfranchised poor people...can they not pick up their pepsi cases? Seriously, expand the picture on your PC and take a good look at their surroundings...It's GARBAGE...

I fail to pity your "housing shortage" when you live in your own filth!

The one guy has his super dish laying next to him, there is a broken cup on the floor, junk all over, it's just junk...inexcusable IMO

  • Next example of fine native culture:

@11:04 Nice toke! Nice torn out and pasted on the wall pin up girlie collection in the background too! This is the way that intelligent people who are serious about their future choose to decorate!

Are those white girls??? Nice to see that their deep seated oppression hasn't affected their ability to appreciate the half naked bodies of their oppressors.

@ 11:08 - I won't even joke around here. This is fucking child abuse.

    Clean your goddamn house.

  • More of the "fine people" that I am being attacked for looking down on...

@ 10:55 Man passed out in the yard...I think it's sad the children have to see this. Certainly with the parents choosing to spend their time getting so shitfaced that they have to sleep it off in the yard rather than advancing themselves do not make it easier for the young ones to escape the ghetto they made for themselves.

But of course it's all the white man's fault anyway, just blaming whitey will make it all go away

  • More examples of what their people fought us "wicked Europeans" to preserve...

@ 10:28 Indian man standing in front of a billboard that announces "ATM INSIDE!" this must be one of the few "White cultural gifts" they decided to accept...of course where else are we to cash the welfare checks? To buy the white mans beer that is our burden?

But What does this proud Indian warrior have scrawled on his hand???

    A SWASTIKA?!?

    WTF?

    Yet I am a "racist"?

Can you not see the absurdity?

    Please...

  • More "awesome native culture"...

@ 5:22 Kids sitting atop propane tank...(whitey brought it but it's okay?)...obligatory graffiti reads in ENGLISH - "RESPECTS NOTHING"...(obviously)...and there is a crude "ICP" - which stands for Insane Clown Posse, yet another English speaking ghetto rap/rock group...

@ 5:31 - Finally someone with some sense! Realizes that there is a violent gang infiltration among their own kind and writes a barely legible note stating - "NO FUCKEN GANSTERS!"...

  • Please tell me how the following are "cultural native"...

@2:49 "Indian native" holding AK 47 wearing a "NIGGERS WITH ATTITUDE" T-Shirt...

@2:53 A nice scene of a playground set up for the children strewn with garbage and neglected by "the elders"...(no doubt erected by whites)...obviously not cared for by the adults.

@ 2:58 Indian gent with tattoos covering his body and even his FACE...(great for job interviews)...Tattoos written in ENGLISH, obviously whitey must have pinned him down...

  • @CultureJamtheNWO It's easy to Pass Judgement upon people you don't know. Not understanding their circumstances...not everyone is where they are by choice. Your racist slurs, do you know good either. I am of White-Germanic Descent, and you and your condescending banter makes me sick. Their problems are a result of our ancestors actions in america, not having a place to call home, and lack of education. Judge if you will, but remember, Judge, YE NOT BE JUDGED, you arrogant fool.

  • Great Talk, good on you and your colleagues Aaron....and may racist comments here sting only the mouths of the cruel head copped ones who speak from dominant culture's podium......best we allow such ignorance into the light that it may compost into something which is good and helpful, something that grows and nourishes First Nations communities like this one.

  • @sulyncedar And the photos are splendid, sad sad sad and so poignant.

  • look at souless white man, look at his words, and never forget, thy did this and dont care!

  • Maybe if they stopped spending their money on gang tattoos they could afford to pay "whitey" to come and clean up their houses, because they obviously can't figure it out on their own...

I see a people who have embraced American black gang culture and can't get out of their own filth long enough to mount any kind of an opposition to the lifestyle they are choosing.

So enter the white bleeding heart liberal to inject some good old white guilt...won't work, they need to do it themselves.

  • Tyrants, timber will not see their own ass. The eyes of someone else sees the straw garbage. .. So embarrassing

  • I lived there 10 years ago in Kyle. I often wonder about outsiders photographing poverty in the aim of "we must do something" ...Is this more exploitation and invasion of privacy? I saw more beauty at Pine Ridge than these photos show.... What if Indian people went to a "white man's reservation" .. a housing development where there are tons of foreclosures and out of work middle class and film them crying and being kicked out of their homes...

  • Words can't express the horrors done to these people, but your presentation was very moving. I could not agree more with your call to action at the end - It isn't any of our business what they do with the land that is rightfully theirs. Thank you.

  • US and EU are taking care of Gaza, where life expectancy is above 75.

But instead healing the wounds in their own countries such Native Indians or Gypsies in EU, they prefer multi million supports to Hamas government in Gaza and get Nobel prize for nothing.

By the way, how US citizens like their tent cities? even in Gaza is not so bad.

  • "This has happened before, and This will happen Before".

Those who have more guns, will have nearly everything else they want.

  • This video really is so tragic and so sad. Democracy? Freedom? What a joke. This is so upsetting. The world must see what is happening to these awesome people. My heart goes out to them. How can the white americans even look at themselves without shame. Its all their disgusting greed. He is not a faggot - he has feelings and this brought me to tears. I will pray to the Great Spirit to help these natives to regain their pride and for something to be done to help them now!

  • @Tessaleroux Awesome people??? Full of disgusting gang tattoos, living in utter filth, rotting heaps of cars, blaming others for their own inaction???

This is what constitutes "awesome people" these days?

Does the "white man" come and force them to to sniff glue, not clean their houses, disregard their children?

Is the white man forcing them to wallow in their own pathetic squalor?

People who are hardworking and industrious will ALWAYS win out, quit crying over human filth, they earn it.

  • @CultureJamtheNWO

You are cruel. Everything is interrelated.

Thank you for expressing you views!E njoy browsing Youtube from the comfort o your home.

  • @kolinos4

I have a home because I was INTELLIGENT and I WORKED for it.

Somthing that these folk have not figured out yet from the pics in this vid.

Part of being intelligent is not covering myself with tattoos from head to toe, or blaming another race for choosing Jerry springer instead of learning.

    Tell you what

I will happily donate some paint to this reserve so that they can paint over the graffiti that the "white man" put there..

    Native?

This is American black hip-hop gang culture.

  • @CultureJamtheNWO You're a moron. Did you even listen to what the video was really saying or were you listening with prejudice? Infact- don't answer that. People like you are too stupid to get it.

  • @CultureJamtheNWO Why are they "dumb" - because poor! Why poor - because "dumb"! This is NOT their choice! Catch 22!

Again I feel how cruel and ignorant is yr position. A thinking person sees t they are like this bcz their chances to live, dream about ANYTHING at all was brutally taken away.

Yr desperate agression borders fanatitism. I feel u shld get more human! It is t work t will bring you MORE than illusory safety of yr home. Mayb compassion & humbleness will come to yr intelligent life.

  • @CultureJamtheNWO i hope you lose your home because youre a DUMBASS, and DONT UNDERSTAND THE WAY THE WORLD WORKS

  • @CultureJamtheNWO Intelligent….hm. First, intelligent behavior in one culture is not necessarily intelligent behavior in another culture. That is because intelligence is very dependent from environment and culture (It means that one cannot compare intelligence of people from different cultural backgrounds). I would like to see your INTELLIGENCE if you were born in that place on the pics. Anyway, even if you look just at dominant intelligence model in order to be intelligent on that way

  • @CultureJamtheNWO ....you have to have good EDUCATION, because only education can develop your innate abilities . But in your capitalistic and racist country education is not free. You need to have money in order to be educated. So you see…your ancestors were thieves, scum of Europe, shame, who have stolen land from Native people so that you could now be “educated” and “intelligent”. And you did not stop there. You are still enslaving them. And not just them but all the people that...

  • @CultureJamtheNWO ...don’t have same life style as you, and those who don’t want your military base in backyard, and those who have something you could exploit. People become criminal and start to drink when there is no hope. Tell you what, if you are so intelligent why don’t you consider that (even if you look on life just as one big competition ) everybody should have same start? ...

  • @CultureJamtheNWO ....Or, if you are so intelligent , why can’t you see that there are many life philosophies that even don’t include your way of education, work and progress? Oooo and what about emotional intelligence? That is also something you don’t have. The conclusion is that you are emotionally blind and STUPID.

--- For those who care… I am from Serbia, race-human.

  • @CultureJamtheNWO yes, they always win because they thrive off of fucking other people over on a daily basis.

  • @SuperRegisteredUser Neither the Ottoman Empire nor the Persian Empire was established by Europeans and they most certainly was the most powerful of their time. I'm fairly certain China would qualify at some point prior to the Industrial Revolution too.

  • @kitsunde Yes, exactly. Both the Turks and the Iranians tried, but ultimately failed to make the land theirs and China has been fighting a loosing battle against a growing number of regions wanting to declare independence from them. The Europeans succeed. There is no talk about giving the native Americans or Australian/New Zealander natives their land back, Europeans have succeeded and it's permanently their lands.

  • Dakota War of 1862, Mankato MN. I guess that might have been mentioned in my history class growing up the land of 10,000 lakes.

  • 47 people are ignorant.

  • @cma101

Your assumption is incorrect, and I do think Canada treated our aboriginals better. For one thing, we didn't give them commit genocide with intentional infliction of small pox through blankets.

  • OMG get over it. Indians got conquered and that's that.

  • @SuperiorApostate Fucking idiot. You'll get what's coming to you one day.

  • @groovekiller cbb

  • After watching this I have to wonder what the hell aboriginals in my country, Canada, are still whining about.

  • @dookiecheez

What the hell Canada's aboriginals "are still whining about" ?!

Maybe because watchichu are still up to their old tricks when they feel the need to expand a golf course?

    See wiki: Oka_Crisis

  • @8blkcat

That's sort of an old incident as far as I can see. The current complaint I hear about is how in Manitoba on some reservation lands, all of which don't pay any tax dollars, our government hasn't gone out of it's way to use tax dollars to build them new houses and install utilities. Either they can stop segregating themselves on their land and we can pay them off, or they can join Canada and I'd gladly fork over tax dollars to help them when their own chiefs won't.

  • That teacher turnover is so high is shitty. Proper education is very valuable. Of course, not being continually screwed by the government also helps.

  • Added to my TED and Human Rights playlists.

  • The more I hear of Lincoln the more of a bastard he is. From what I understand the Civil was was not started because of slavery but economic reason. The slavery issue was added later.

  • Good on the guy!

  • I might be taking this to far but...

Boo Huu. I think we have treated these guy better buy not enslaving counquered people like the romens. I dont think we need to feel especilly bad for one group when many other people have been taken over just because one country wants more land. I think everyone needs to chill and think about how much worse this could have been (thought I have to admit i dont like custered).

  • @Caboosethecool strange how you refer to the past as we when you had nothing to do with it.. you are a fluke sperm cell that was shot into your mother... in all reality you could have just as easily been on the conquered or conquistadors side... what this talk is more so about is addressing the facts and reality so that WE as human beings can better serve each other and live in a less treacherous violent and delusional world.. dare i say peaceful...

  • @Th3Wab3 And the sad thing is that these people had to go thorught it. History is a great source as to know about. I'm not saying dont feel bad for the Souix (Which i have blood of) I'm saying that this has happened to so many people you shouldent genreally feel bad for one race. But for all of them wether it be the Gauls of the Romans, the Jews of WWII or the Souix of Manifest Destiny. I hope this has gotten my point across for you. If not Just tell me and I will try to explain it more in depth

  • @Caboosethecool i know what your getting at but i think it's a cop out each "country" has it history of abuse, however it is important for inhabitants to know the history of their accepted homelands.. also with the examples you mentioned they have all recovered Jews are going pretty well (50 billion a yr stolen land given to them, Gauls romans etc..) nothing is being done to constructively help the native Americans in fact as he stated they have been kept on prison reserves for 100s of years...

  • @Th3Wab3 Thank you for the much more civil responce. I think that you are right each country needs to know about what abuse the "old people" have gone thorught. This has been a great disscusion

    Done

  • @Caboosethecool the feelings mutual

    best regards

  • Maybe the US could make the First People tax exempt and stop trying to regulate them. That would be a freakin' start....and we wonder why the US is falling apart. It was built on blood, bones and tears.

  • "stop with the guilt trip. its all in the past now" Wow. That comment just shows the ignorance of what happened to the First Peoples of Canada and the United States. The Nazis learned from tactics and experiments used at the residential schools in both countries. Google UNREPENTANT: KEVIN ANNETT AND CANADA'S GENOCIDE. It will make your stomach turn, what the Roman Catholic church and the government did. How do you "get over" being sterilized, murdered, exposed to carcinogens, TB and more?

  • Really, what country wasn't

  • Treaties mean nothing when it comes to land and resources. These days it is mostly just resources.

  • What! No comments? Loved it.

  • Don't forget America already has the largest Prison Population in the World!

They're still up to the same fascist tricks. Doesn't matter what color you are but it still helps.

  • He acts like this is the first time in history that a stronger nation wiped out a weaker nation. No one cares about this. The people in the audience will forget as soon as they leave the auditorium. Youtube will file this video away with the rest of the videos. This 'issue' will never be resolved.

  • Comment removed

  • my heart is with them.. we must stop acting so uncivilized, its the 21st century for god sake!!!!!

  • Even though Australia apologised to its Indigenous peoples, issues very similar to those raised here still exist. All colonial nations need to apply themselves.

Was a valuable and eye opening talk, but why did he pretend to cry? Just alluded to a victim-hood that really he doesn't belong to. Seriously; great cause and revise of US history, but no one will take you seriously if you sensationalise this reality.

  • @latebadger I don't think he "pretended" to cry. I think he was sad, because these were people he had actually met and lived with, as well as words he had heard them say. It was actually a lot less emotional than I excpected.

  • @8DX Maybe I was being a little too critical. Just appeared staged to me. He would break down, then immediately recover to hammer home his point. He would have rehearsed that over and over. Do you he cried every time? I honestly don't think its all that important, just an observation. In essence he delivered the message brilliantly.

  • @latebadger "he delivered the message brilliantly." yes I agree =) ! Personally I'd be a nervous wreck talking on a TED stage like that - rehearsed or not - with thousands of people watching - I really admire people who can express themselves like this to the global public..

  • 12:23

  • This is why I am not a patriot. I refuse to ignore the blood on this country's hands.

  • @GrudgyDiablo Not helpful.

  • very sad stuff, i take my hat off to this fellow. Thanks Ted and Aaron Huey for the great talk. Give back the hills America, its the right thing to do

  • @KaylinJH

And what do you do with the thousands of people living in the Black Hills today? Round them up when they refuse to leave? And where do you stop? The Black hills to the Sioux,,, Arizona and New Mexico to the Apache and Navajo, Florida to the Seminoles, New York to the Iroquois,... Italy to the Etruscans, United Kindgom to the Druids, Iraq to the Mesopotamians..............

  • @Loraguy

First of all druids where like the priest of the celt so..

Mesopotamia was an area with multiple civilization, Etruscans don't exist anymore they were assimilated to the Roman empire in 500 bc.

Let's take an other recent event the "apology to the aboriginal people" in Australia well i didn't see anything close form that in US and Canada, on the contrary those 2 countries are the only one which are against the UN declaration on the rights of indigenious people.

  • Good to hear this story told.

American middle class beware the Financial Collapse is the beginning of your own Reservations. The False Flag Terrorism, FEMA Camps and Homeland Security are all for you. I don't wish that on anyone but read the signs and resist while you still can.

  • There is nothing stopping these people from joining American society. They are the one's choosing to stay on reservations.

  • Amazing tribute. Add on all the fucking murder the U.S. commits in modern day and what do you have? a Murdereous fucking nation. simple. almost half a million iraqis dead for lies, countless vietnamese, etc. then the fucktarded american would say 'but overall, we're a great good'. FUCK YOU. a good? as good as fucking Cancer.

  • American history

  • I'm baffled by this man's righteousness! Somebody applaud him for being so modestly unselfsh!

  • Yea yea, the truth hurts... america was founded on theft, robbery and murder #FAIL

  • @sooperfukker I'm sure your country has no theft, robbery, or murder in it's past either. Thanks for sharing!

  • @apollo2328 Why don;t you go fuck yourself, you ignorant, intolerant, moronic ameba brained fucknut. He's done more to help others than you will in your entire life. Kindly sew your mouth up with stitches.

  • Ah, Lincoln! What a peach!

  • I suspect what is written in the history books is not the whole truth. The winners are usually the ones writing the history. I also suspect there were far more evil deeds done with regard to this genocide that will never be told.

  • Too bad everyone in USA can't watch this during their Thanksgiving dinner.

  • Good answer tyrbolo

til this day we still stand

  • @tyrbolo

    Good answer

we stand strong just like the buffalo

  • Honor the treaties, Aho~

  • Bless our beautiful Native Tribes...give them gifts, give them great honor, give them back their lands..give them respect.. honor what is sacred here.

Please rise up America.. too to save our wild horses, they are facing their last stand.

    Wild Horse Protection Act Facebook

Action: Use this tag line or create your own..and post every where, go viral with this.."Rise up America, stop BLM wild horse genocide NOW! Cut off their funding, no tax dollars to the BLM."

  • You know what would be the most American thing to do for these people? Make them a sovereign state of the USA. Let them govern themselves the way they want to but also include them in national affairs. Is that really hard to do?

  • Just because some people in the past were assholes doesnt mean natives are not americans. How can you ask us to be racists. Let you have your own land where whites are not allowed. Its simply less appropriate than the current system. Sorry, past is past enjoy your freedom now.

  • stop with the guilt trip. its all in the past now, and each one of us has to make the best of what we have now.

  • My ancestors were treated unjustly. That has not held me back. I grew up in poverty in a poor place. There were no fences keeping me in this poor place, so I left to make a life for myself. I've been to the Pine Ridge Reservation, and you know what? There aren't any fences around it either.

  • @thebigtfan good point i was thinking the same thing just now while i took a shit, i mean..these people could work and build up their own community..

i don't mean to label or stereo type.. but some natives are drunks right? maybe that is part of the problem.. laziness and addiction.. they need to wake up and work.

Without labor your situation will ALWAYS decline in progress...I hope they figure it out and think up ways to make companies and build their community or it'll get worse for them.

  • @GravDiga I would imagine that it is difficult to work where there are no jobs. Nobody has money to create jobs.

We (the US) owe it to these people (US citizens) to invest in improving their situations. I doubt that it would cost much at all and, if done correctly, they can be helped to a position of self-reliance and self-sufficiency.

Instead of worrying about the rest of the world, maybe we should make the US the best that we can first.

  • @gero1369 Good point i know this situation is hard for them but i have a feeling that many people are not really trying.. or using their brains to progress.

I didn't watch the whole video... maybe i should.. since in a way i am speaking from ignorance.. but i have seen videos like this..for a couple years.

And i think they have options like to sell their land and go somewhere more prosperous or to work together to build a community, they live in America.. there has to be a solution (cont).....

  • @gero1369 .....there are people in Brazil building their own houses with plastic bottles.. and some cement.. and people in Africa lending money from the bank to open businesses.. others use loans to farm but those don't go so well.

The point is there are options.. and it might be hard to find the right path but if they get some help and start doing positive things there is bound to be positive change.

Maybe i am just an idealist but i do see change where people work to make a better world.

  • @thebigtfan I appreciate rational human beings.

  • @thebigtfan I see down here the typical stupidity of Americans thinking that everyone want to have their live style.

That's not what most of the people wants. They want to stay in their life style.

You didn't understand this video: Americans have destroyed their life style, destroyed their identity, destroyed their culture.

You were maybe poor but you didn't loose what made yourself.

  • @Shundra A quote from your own home page:

"Enlightenment is man's leaving his self-caused immaturity. Immaturity is the incapacity to use one's intelligence without the guidance of another. Such immaturity is self-caused if it is not caused by lack of intelligence, but by lack of determination and courage to use one's intelligence without being guided by another. Sapere Aude! Have the courage to use your own intelligence! is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
