you are Geddy'O'Lee!!.That S'berger rocks btw.But you need a Geddy mullett to complete the look!!!.Well sussed out notes which i didnt pick up on.Cheers
I like Signals a lot, Moving Pictures is great as well. I saw Rush in Milwaukee early in July and they did the whole Moving Pictures album. Not a huge fan of 90's Rush or the last few albums which are not as progressive as 80's Rush. Big fan of the Police as well. Sting bass lines are easier to learn than Geddy bass lines, finding a drummer to play Stewart Copeland is not easy. Other bands you like a lot?
@thekevlarhabanero yeah but there later stuff is pretty ordinary... the last song they did that i liked somewhat (as opposed to really LOVED) was animate... there new stuff cannot compare to hemispheres, passage to bangkok - tom sayer - hold your fire, etc etc
@thekevlarhabanero you would have liked my college band at WIU 1981-83. We played Hemispheres and 2112 album and walking on the moon and peanuts by police. Drummer was no prob, but a singer was the hardest to find
No, just dig in hard with your right hand, and add a little dirt if you like, but a lot of guys think that the gear is what makes Geddy sound like Geddy. Its more to do with how hard he plays with his right hand than anything else.
@mindhead2005 yeah, plus the rickenbacker (which i had for 15 years until it was stolen) has this way of growling and sounding so organic when you do that digging into strings - it doesn't get louder, it just gets more valve-like distortion - and then you can slap the string with your index finder to get that clicky sound - beautiful bass...
First time I heard this solo my mind was blown, not as melodic as the first and last bass solo, but man it sounds fast in the mix

;;how do you like the synapse bass compared to-say a mim fender p bass? ^_^
I'm thinking about buying a steinberger synapse
CircusEnvy23 11 months ago
@CircusEnvy23
two very different basses. I wouldn't buy a MIM P - The squier classic vibe P is far better - trust me I've had both,
But I would say if you can't get an L2 or an XL 2, the synapse is not bad at all.

@mindhead2005 are those two spirits?

@CircusEnvy23
No, the original graphite Steinies.

Out of the three solos, the second may be the hardest one to play, it is all about the phrasing and timing.
thekevlarhabanero 1 year ago
@thekevlarhabanero
Its definitely the hardest
How he does it live is beyond me
