In 1.7.3 update, you can use pistons, attach it to a lever using redstone, and just pull a single lever, so you don't have to break the block, but you may also move it with pistons.

Now with the piston mod, instead of destroying the dirt block to allow the water to flow, you could simply have a lever that pulls the block via a piston.

very nice lots of wheat i have a wheat farm its indoors i made it in a building it gives 1 stack of wheat which is good enough for me and its fully automated just like yours i break a dirt block but i break 4 blocks instead cause they needed to be separated but its a very good build. I also have a cactus farm thing its decent about 30-40 cacti a day and also a sugarcane farm i get about 50 a day if i want to harvest it both are automated :D my tree farm is also decent 50 blocks every go XD.

if you can get over that fence, so can mobs, you and them have the same programming, you can jump 1 block high so can they.

@SquidAlex117 generally when seeds disappear and turn back into dirt or normal grass this is because either you or animals or mobs are trampling them u should put fences up preferably two blocks high and make sure there is no grass or dirt inside the fences line besides farmed crops because animals can spawn on grass and dirt so theyre probs trampling it also make sure there is plenty of light so monsters dont spawn good luck with that
