i once had an umpire when i was like 7 and when he would show the balls and strikes, he would take his fingers and put them on his boobs. like if it was a 2 ball 2 strike count, he would put 2 fingers around his nipple on each side. it was amazing

@tklsocial Its not hard to wear a regular ball cap with the brim forward underneath the mask... I do it all the time with no difficulty at all (putting on or taking the mask off).
We're not supposed to wear our hat backwards (I got dinged for that my first game behind the plate, when I could not adjust my mask correctly). I also, at a clinic, was told that I was not saying "Strike" emphatically enough. You don't say "Strike". You have to say "Stree-ike". Like this guy does. I don't get it, but all umpires do it. I guess so everyone can hear it.
I will tell you one thing. I will never bash umpires again. VERY tough gig, tougher than soccer refereeing IMHO.

eh, okay, but I've seen better and more creative ones. Such as that NCAA umpire, I forgot his name, but he usually works the CWS and on strike threes he rings up batters by moving his hand in a climbing motion while loudly barking Strike 3. The ESPN guys talked about him during one of the games, and some NCAA players got scared he yelled it so loud. Hopefully he'll be there for the 2009 CWS it be great to see that again.
I like my strike three mechanic but I don't ump yet so can't use it.

Timing is way too fast on the strike three call. Slow down, let it hit the glove, count one second, and then do your call.
