I get why people like macs, they don't want to deal with the issues of having that level of customizability. But I love my PC, I know whats inside, I put it together and I can take it apart and add better components without having to swap out my kidney to pay for it. Also form should never beat function but we are fickle human beings and we like brands cos we believe they denote certain aspects of our personalities. With a little know-how and a sense of pragmatism there is always an alternative.
Well, I just opened mine. I noticed straight away how hard the buttons are to smush. I was expecting a little more of a clicky feeling and not to have to press soooo hard!!! I dont like it at all for now. Maybe I'll get used to it. I just put my intuos3 large back into it's box. I'll comment again later on my new intuos4. I really dont like how hard I have to press the buttons!
@mysticswordsman21 Sorry I took 11 months to respond lol. So no. You're wrong, it can be better with a tablet. It has pen pressure sensitivity and its way better than drawing with a mouse cause with the tablet you can feel that you're drawing like in a paper :D

that's why. at the begining i thought that all the monitors are the same but i found out that monitors world is a REAL BIG GIANT world. samsung and LG invented the technology but the worst of them all (samsung i mean) it's cool for gaming but as an artist it's worthless specially when it comes with HDMI tuner. take alook at HP dream color, and eizo & NEC brands then you'll notice the REAL different. P.S: do you know that CRT is the BEST OF THEM ALL when it comes to colors specially for artists!?
I really love it, 20" 1600x1200, damn sharp contrast! Nobody believes me that this is the best for doing digital drawings and such, but well, they don't have to. I love mine. :)
@rubbe Don't just go expensive right away assuming it's the best, sometimes you need to research a little bit before buying anything and sometimes older/cheaper models are much better and reliable, just a tip for everyone
That is not the point of the cintiq. It is not a monitor for viewing movies or previewing the work, its a monitor for drawing or sketching. The technology isn't advanced enough to be able to have both a tablet and an amazing monitor in one. The film that makes it possible to use the pen also degrades the colors. That is why it is recommended to have a second monitor with better colors when using the cintiq. Things like the color picker on the main monitor, just draw on the cintiq.
@HDaviator - thanks! that was definitely helpful. didn't know there was a color quality diff. i'm still tring to figure out which to get. i have large hands and am used to sweeping motions. want either the large or xl. saw a guy with medium demo and it seemed comfy tho. i used to draw free hand and am getting into graphics. you have any suggestions. i think i'd be OK with intuos, i'll be able to adjust to my drawings not being under my hand. whats a good way to choose size for home/school use?
@HDaviator - thanks! that was definitely helpful. didn't know there was a color quality diff. i'm still tring to figure out which to get. i have large hands and am used to sweeping motions. want either the large or xl. saw a guy with medium demo and it seemed comfy tho. i used to draw free hand and am getting into graphics. you have any suggestions. i think i'd be OK with intuos, i'll be able to adjust to my drawings not being under my hand. whats a good way to choose size for home/school use?
@rubbe i aggree that intuos4 is better. i have the cintiq 12 though and you said the colours are bad then there must be something wrong with your main monitor because the colors on my cintiq are better than even my dell 2408 or ipad display. wacom did the colors right. your main monitor might be off or your cintiq needs caliubration :S
@UnknownGnome1 well my school is a sort of art acadamy, only about 2000 ppl go there, and you can buy a apple laptop there with photoshop and stuff for you studies and work. they said that they sell apple macbooks because they have a better resolution of colors ont their screens.
@joshshoot Well if they sell them, they would say that wouldn't they?! I have been in many professional production studios and for a start most of them used crt monitors. But many production grade monitors will rival what Apple offers at a fraction of the price.
@UnknownGnome1 well some students said that apple is better for designing, maybe its their fault, i dont konw man, if you say the are both good then ill believe you.
@joshshoot A PC is as good as any Mac. You could buy a PC these days which the same power as a Mac for less than half the price of a Mac. Long time ago, I was a Mac user, but I have learned that for me a PC is a better machine no matter which way you cut it. In fact, you can easily build your own PC with the latest hardware, and this is something will be hard to do with a Mac since Apple has its proprietary OS. You can even run Linux on a PC along with Windows 7. Just my $.02!
@orestesdd I've never had a PC that hasn't gone badly wrong at some time in it's life. Programs borrow/share codes from other programs and eventually there ends up being conflicts of one sort or another and the whole system slows or falls over and crashes all the time. Because of Apple's "proprietary" OS this just doesn't seem to happen on a Mac. I converted to Mac 5 years ago and will never go back to PC!
@jaja1818 Macs and Apple products are just that, a shiny things. There are better products out there costing much less than similar or comparable Apple products. No all that shines is gold as the old saying goes or something like this. It seems Apple wants to get in to people's wallet and take their money. I don't understand why people have to rush every 6 months or so a new Apple iPhone. Isn't the one that was bought six month ago still functional? Apple has brain-washed some.
Not any, but alot (everything the tablet driver supports)
Also if you press the question mark button, an overlay on your screen will appear which show you all your buttons and the shortcuts you assigned them to (esp. useful for the Small version, since it doesnt have the OLED displays on the tablet)

I just bought a Wacom Intuos 4 for a PC. It works great. It fits well beside my keyboard. The large is too large and you don't need it. Get the 4. It's well worth the price.

@navliv90 No the story is outdated by now, macs aren't running any special hardware anymore but are just intel machines with a diff os.
