  • Eddie u will never die, god bless.

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC

    GOOGLE =JOHAN CAPIAU

    OR ROCKING CAPJO

  • This great track never made the pop singles charts for Eddie -- probably due to the poor idstribution Crest Records suffered from at that time. Things improved when he signed with Liberty and recorded his most famous works. But "Skinny Jim" -- with or without the later overdubsd -- SHOULD have been a massive hit.

  • GOLD.

  • skinny jim thats soo good ^^ thank

  • u got some gems i do not remember this, great

  • This is the exact same version as the one with the wild piano and drums. They were dubbed later on, but I don't know if it was done during Eddie's lifetime. You can tell because on both versions the vocals are exactly the same including his messing up one of the "bebopalula Skinny Jim" lines he rushed.

  • That's not enough. Add 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars!

  • This isnt the best version of this song ,by a long shot. Eddie does a much faster version with more piano on other records.

  • "Be Bop A Lula" did well saleswise and "Skinny Jim" tanked. It should've been a huge hit! EDDIE COCHRAN FOREVER!!!

  • Classic Eddie ushering in rock with ATTITUDE!!! You can have his Elvis-apeing ballads. Liberty Records missed the boat casting Eddie as both a rocker and a crooner, but, in fairness to Liberty, hindsight is pretty accurate 50 years later!

  • Which came first? Gene's Be Bop a Lula or this? Anybody know?

  • Hi, Eddie had this song released in July 1956 (it was a Crest RPM), Be Bop A Lula was released in June 1956, the B side of Woman Love (on Capitol records).

    But it took a little time before a DJ had the idea to play the B side of Woman Love, so Skinny Jim and Be Bop A Lula must have become popular at the same time? You should try to find some chart archives if you want to be sure.

    Btw, I've away from Youtube for a long time, do you still cover classic rockabilly? :)

  • Hello squirrelnutcased, Gene Vincent wrote Be-Bop-A-Lula in 1956 and recorded it 04. May 1956 in Nashville (Tennessee) together with Woman Love and it came out 02. June 1956 as B-Side on Gene Vincents first single Woman Love. Eddie Cochrans single Skinny Jim and Half Loved - CREST Records 1026 - came out July 1956. Hope that this information will help you.

    Best regards
