Tough job that its easy to criticise but none of us could or would do.Like all jobs you get good employees and bad ones. Most coppers I feel do a difficult job under tough circumstances & the cop who unjustly lashed out at this innocent man will have to account for his actions. I am glad video cameras are so cheap that this type of action is easily captured these days. this is typical of The Metropolitan police - I was involved in the wapping strike in the 80s and I was hit on the head with a truncheon and I had to have 10 stitches in it - I did nothing - In the miners strike the met police had a reputation for causing trouble - The other forces all knew there was going to be trouble when the met arrived - I hope the policeman involved rots in prison for the rest of his life.

I keep seeing police officers with helmets and then scarves or masks to leave only thier eyes visible. The slapping cop had no number visible and was wearing a heavy duty glove that looks as tho it was designed for the purpose of bruise free slapping. Are these issued, the gloves and face masks or are they diy items that officers are developing for themselves.

The 'masks' are fire retardant balaclavas, issued to try to protect officers from inhaling burning vapors when 'protesters' are trying to set them on fire. The heavy duty gloves are also standard issue and are designed to help protect officers hands when 'protesters' are hitting them with the variety of weapons that they carry around on these so called peaceful protests.

Update: Within 24hrs of uploading this video I found 3 comments were folk voiced opinion marked as spam. An additional comment landed in my inbox but does not show on this page. It announces an 11:30 march on Easter Saturday from Bethnal Green to lay flowers at the place were Ian died. Close to the Bank of England. Attendees are requested to wear black. I think that announcement merits wider attention.
