Eh...About ten years ago bullet hell shmups were *WOW*, today they are...well...just ok. I mean - Radiant Silvergun, Battle Garegga, Dodonpachi were groundbreaking but now it's the same idea over and over and over and over again... Ibara, Espgaluda, Mushihimesama - they just introduce more kawaii or "bitchy" anime girls shooting the sh!t out of eachother and more and more insane bullet patterns which doesn't seem to impress that much anymore. We need something new and fresh!!!!

I sorta know what you mean. Then again, you could say the same about just about any genre at the moment.

You should check out some of G.Rev's shooters. They definitely try something new with shooters. Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta!, Senko No Ronde and their latest, Seisou Kouki Strania all mix different game types. Also, there's the indie scene.

@damjen666 The 3 games you mentioned as the "same idea" all have completely different scoring mechanics, and none of them have girls shooting other girls. Sounds like you haven't played any of them.

@damjen666 The only bullet hell games I know of that have "kawaii" (I hate that term with a passion even when a Japanese person uses it) girls shooting each other are the Gunbird games, Triggerheart excelica, and Tohou. The others you mentioned use planes or space ships. Aso, each one mentioned has it's own "gimmick". Dodonpachi has game long chains and the charge laser, Silvergun has the largest selection of weapons.(out of space)

Maybe...Just MAYBE, now that Aksys Games has released Cave's Deathsmiles in the US, we MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT have a chance at getting DDP Dai Fukkatsu, or Muchi Muchi Pork, or even Pink Sweets...shit or KETSUI released in the States too.

Everyone needs to do their duty and buy 2 copies of Deathsmiles...consider it a vote for Cave to localize more games, or allow it.

Nuff said.

Guys.. actually the game IS region free! Go out and buy this awesome game! Play Asia is a good online shop, you can get the normal version region free (limited is locked for whatever reason)

i too hope 4 region free

it would make good busness sense considering cave would need to do bugger all to sell extra copies,all the work will be done by the online importers like play asia.

considering the fact that more westerners outside the hardcore shmup comunity know about futari with that Hardest Boss Battle Ever you tube video. Cave could create a raise (however small) in modern vert shmups in the west. Arena shooters like geo wars did well so why dont cave tap into that market.
