Holy shit! the drums at the beggining of this and "song for the dead" by QOTSA is exactly the same. i feel betrayed...oh well, still two kickass songs
@sharpechris1993 fuck yea man im startin a band with one of my friends but it's fuckin hard to find anyone else in my town who even knows what punk is.
@sharpechris1993 what are you talking about? punks always been here. Theres venues and even a few stores by me. It's just to many new bands don't make it because they don't have style like back in the day it's all unorigional it gets old.
Rollins is the jock he has always whined about except he's preachy, whiny and more suceptible to facist tendencies. Have more respect for Vanilla Ice.
@ourargumentblog that´s why i have a band .because i like this music ,but i don´t like all the day listening .i like playing whit my friends and having fun ,and trying to make an own style
It's stupid to wish you were around back in the day just so you could be "living it". Sure you missed out on shows, but if you think about it, you'd be missing music too. Now that Punk has came and went, ALL of the music is out there to be heard. If you were around back in the day, you would only be able to hear whatever was already around and you'd always be waiting for something new instead of being able to just want/find something on demand.
Myspace is both super lame and super gay (not in the republican sense.) But yeah- I agree- it's a free venue where lots of people can proffer their audio.
Greg Ginn was magical. Anybody that disagrees can either pull out his gold album he sold out of the back of his car, or shut the hell up. I guess Billie Joe Armstrong can argue, but he wouldn't.
@Nemorosus yeah same here! friend just randomly pointed it out to me that there was something strange about the drums for the song and i was like! WOW WTF?! ha
I had this song on a mix that I brought to the school gym. I always noticed that the other guys who were working out there usually got a bit more aggressive with their workouts when this track came on. One time a professor who was in the weight room stepped out for a moment and came back with a miniature padlock in his hand. He unplugged the stereo towards the end of the song and slipped the small padlock through the hole in the metal tong of the plug so we couldn't put it back into the outlet.
back up vocals were provided by a 15-year old Suzi Gardner (later of L7 fame). This "obscure" information is provided on the back cover of the Slip It In LP in nice bold print. scum meter goes up a notch. these guys were the real deal.
Actually, to all those wondering, I looked it up. It is Kim Gordon on backing vocals. Kim Gordon of course being the bassist and vocalist for the glorious band that is Sonic Youth.
I seen BLACK FLAG in Chicago at the Metro 2 times back in the 80's.... once with bald henry then with hippie henry... its was a great time for this type of music. their were punk shows every week and very cheap think i paid 10 bucks to see BLACK FLAG the last time.
@RampSlave I saw BK back in the 80's too..hippie Henty..then bald antagonistic Henry...he gave a guy in the front a good kicking...it was great..lolol...have see his one man show thing last yr....I'm not sure...I prefer him in a pair of jack boots any day of the week...still a mighty impressive looking chap tho...lolol
@donteateggs666, the thing is yeah shit comes on the radio, but shit always came on the radio, they had great punk and hardcore underground then and great punk and hardcore is still underground, you cant find it on mtv you have to scour your local scenes and scenes cities around. its probably easier now if you try hard enough because we have the internet, zines still exist and house shows still exist, just find them.
Quit grousing. Start a band and do what you want to hear. We did it. There was no scene- we made it.
It's harder now in some ways- the cops are way more efficient about shutting shit down. But hey- you have the internet and computers- we had scissors, tape, public transit and xerox machines.
@Tobylifehater Thank god. I've been trying to say that. Its so much easier for my generation. My only problem is I live in a small town in rural Kansas so its harder to just find enough dedicated like minded individuals.
@Tobylifehater I've been trying to say the same thing to people. I always say "if kids in the 80's could do it, we sure as hell can." My problem is I live in a small town in rural Kansas and its hard to find dedicated like minded individuals.
P.S. I really admire what the hardcore generation did. It was Green Day a long time ago that got me interested in music, after I watched American Hardcore and got into bands like Black Flag, Adolescents, Minor Threat, it gave me ambition to start a band
@Tobylifehater really? and who da fuck r u to taunt the 'kid'? u did it and look at u now. an old fart with nothin better to do but talk shit. at least u had XEROX machines. do everybody a favour and shut da fuck up and stay in retirement but mostly tone down your patronising attitude if u can
