@Hotters70603XL ima try to send it again cause i might have missed a symbol on da address or da video is no longer on..if that dont work ima send sum more vids wit da redbirds as the garbage trains
@Hotters70603XL i agree.all they have to do is fix the trains up a little bit like the windows and update the red with a brighter shade of red and put the same things that's on the new trains and the technoglogy and boom there you go...ima send you a video on what they do with the red trains now on your inbox
@Hotters70603XL they do cause i live in brooklyn and i was shocked when i saw it this year and then i saw da next train after it connected and it was one of those maintence cleaning trains.thats the only bad part but yes they still use them for little things..if the mta was smart they would at least either use the red trains for the holiday weekend and/or use the train every last day of the month as a throwback
@Hotters70603XL they still have the redbirds riding around but they use it for maintence and i do hope they bring these beautiful red trains back.the mta always messes things up anyway
im doing this whole project on this just to show people how beautiful the red bird is then im gonna out it on the news i fit's good enough the title will be: 10 year old tribute to red bird. on eyewitness news. Hope you watch! oh yeah dont comment about my age

soon were going have to a tribute video to the R62/A...by the end of 2008 the 7 line will be getting h enew R142/s this was suppose to happen when the redbirds were getting dumped.but a guy at the mta said"since the 7 line has its own railyard lets just sent these r62/a to the 7 line.we will save a bundle"so now the mta is plannung to make the whole NYC subway hi tech by the middle of 2009..we will misss the R32,R38,R40,R42,R62 so hi trch to NYC!
i was 6 yrs old also when i rode on these. i would alaws tell my grandma to wait for a red bird. i wish i had a chance to take a video but i was still to young to have a phone.
That video is awesome and I used to take the 7 from 103rd St/Corona Plaza to Grand Central Station everyday. My son is a serious Red Bird fan!! Can I use your video on my salon's website? I can send you a link so that you may view the finished product.
The redbirds on the 7 line were usually different than the ones on the 2, 5, and 6. The redbirds on the 7 had bigger windows i think because the train was always outside, so passengers can see outside better. Both models were really nice though and I still wish one day I will see a redbird instead of an r142.
The Redbirds on the 7 are called R33/36 World's Fair Version while the ones on the Lexington Avenue and 7th Avenue Lines are R33/36 Mainline Version as well as the R26/28/29. The ones on the 7 were made for the 1964 World's Fair in Flushing Meadows Park. The others were made for regular revenue service. That's why they have different windows.
i forgot how long ago they took these trains out of service. now they have those silver and rumor has it the 7 is going to get those new trains with the automatic anouncments
I would love to see this and the other video you made about historical subway cars without the music. The trains make some nice music themselves. Also, some of your more spectacular evening shots were marred by the lower thirds (titles). Do you have raw footage clips you'd care to share?
Actually yes, the raw footage is available. I compiled these clips from Orenstransitpage dot com. Oren was the cameraman, and he graciously allowed me the freedom to do the video. Go to his site and go to the redbird video section.
They've should've saved at least 100 of These Cars to Let Film Companies Use for TV & Movie Filming in The Subways If a Film About The 70's or 80's were to Be Made!!
man those trains were great...when we were younger on an empty car we'd swing off the handles as well as slide along the smooth benches. fun when we were kids lol
im impressed you caught the diamond 7 in action twice, very nice. we used to deliberately wait for it during rush hours cuz it was so rare. yea redbirds were pretty awesome.
I am going to miss the Redbirds as well.

The R36 WFs actually entered service on the 7 1964 and the R33 WF debuted a few months earlier, in 1963.
