yeah, sometime I feel like languages are organised like tv channel in our brain. Once you hear one language, the brain just switch. Sometime you don't realise you are speaking in another language. Also happens more often after watching tv...
(cont.) When I´m angry or mad to someone who´s not chinese, I´ll start thinking in chinese phrases, with some swearing little words as you do (but on english and portuguese). And if I´m with my sister I´ll start talking to her in chinese about what I really think. And sometimes when I´m talkingto someone portuguese or english, I´m thinking on a especific word for exemple floor and I can´t say this word I´m just saying (dei ha )in my head and I say it out loud trying to see if someone helps me
Hi, Asha I´ve watched some of your videos and it´s really funny. I speak fluently english, portuguese, and cantonese (but I can´t write a chinese word). Though I´m living in Brasil at this moment, I´ve been in Macau for 13 years. My mom is chinese, and my dad is portuguese, they speak english to each other. You know, when I think of numbers, I think in chinese. I´m half white, half asian, but you are more white than I´m. So when I and my sister talk, we mix hall of the languages.EngChPor
If someone was talking to me in English, then i think in English, but if someone speaks to me in Chinese, i think in Chinese.
But if i were to think to myself, i think in pictures O_o Example: If i was to think of my shopping list, instead of a list, it's pictures of things i need to buy lol.
Well... Depends who am I speaking with really... I'll speak English with people who could speak English well, but Cantonese/Mandarin with my family and friends, or whoever couldn't understand much English.
Guys I found one ! @Michael25589 is a real chinese guy! Hey chinese guy i wanna ask you something: are your genitals censored and pixelated in real life too ?
Ha.ha... I think that is an issue with people with Bi or Tri languages. I actually use both of them. I naturally use Chinese to think when I speak to my family but tend to use English more when I at work.
But things get interesting when I am with friends that speak both Chinese & English. We usually "mixed" them up & speak "Chinlish". =P
I only speak cantonese when I talk to my parents because german is too difficult for them. But my sisters and brother or friends I use german because its faster. I count in Cantonese too
i have this problem too... but for math and counting... chinese all the way... in other situations it depends on the conversation... and the person i am talking too...
when i am by my self... japanese... also comes out... since i watch a lot of japanese drama and anime... so a few common every day phrases pops out once in a while...
thats the problem most asians encountered.. the pain of learning multi languages.. especially im from malaysia with chinese descendant.. hmm, malay is our national language, chinese is my mother language, cantonese has become the trendy city language, and english is the international language, excluding the chinese origin languages like hokkien and hakka (china was like EU before united).. so when i speak to myself, which language should i use? lol
I'm from Hong Kong and living in U.S. right now. So when I'm talking with my family I'll use Cantonese. But when I'm around American kids I'll use English.
All depends, I was born in Shanghai and speak Shanghainese, and grow up in Hong Kong speak Cantonese, and with my parents speak in Mandarin, and living in Australia speak in English, I also like listen Teresa Teng's Hokinese songs too, plus got some Taiwanese friends I also speak Taiwnese (Hokinese) too, it is sounds a mixed, but deep inside my heart and brain, I still feels Mandarin is the best I can express my feelings, than is English and Cantonese.
lol . my friends once asked me this question and i was like WT? and then i tot about it .... i think in chinese when talking to parents and in english to friends .....sumtimes i even put on the chinses accented english while talking to parents ...dunno y , just do :D
haha mate that happens to me as well. I was born in Australia but come from a cantonese back ground. I occasionally use cantonese to count and think of wierd situations. I especially love when people think you don't understand but you do.
my cantonese is better than my english since i grew up around asian friends and spoke mainly english while growing up so i tend to think in cantonese but im currently thinking in english now since im typing this comment out
depend on who ur audience are, even if ur not intent to speak to them( thinking 3ing positive). or who you wanna hide ur thought from(thinking 3ing negative)
I do both. But quite the opposite, I think in Chinese when I am with Chinese, and in English when I am with English speaking people. One exception is when I am extremely tired, then I usually get really confused, and start saying absolutely "weird" things (because the targeted language group doesn't understand.) For example: "唔係,you should have done it this way instead". Hehe, but I usually do it quick enough that people just ignore the Chinese. :D
Generally it all depends on the people around me, if they are english speakers ill think in english but if they're chinese for some reason i always assume its only polite if i think in chinese, but if i have migraine, it all goes out the window and both english and chinese clash together when i think and speak and everyone at school is like "o.0" big question is whether you dream in english or in chinese cuz thats in the subconscience so you can't control it
Maybe because you can write and read Chinese u can think in Chinese? I can't write of read it so maybe it's foreign to me to think in it. It's like taking a longer route to communicate ur ideas with yourself?

pa12345u 1 month ago

Maybe because you can write and read Chinese u can think in Chinese? I can't write of read it so maybe it's foreign to me to think in it. It's like taking a longer route to communicate ur ideas with yourself?
