  • DADDY UROY I LOVE YOU

  • He is GOOD!

  • U Roy is a living legend.

  • cool to do Soul Rebel live. blessed for 2010

  • Such a shame my PC speakers dont do the heavy bass any justice.

    R E S P E C T To U-Roy and Junior Murvin.

Big respect to goldfish for posting this vid of the master.

  • ?? the original chat came to jamaican radio from the US and was taken up by selectors to fire up the crowns who followed the mobile disco sets at the time 60's. Daddy URoy came to fame chatting over re-vamped Duke Reid "Treasure Isle" rock steady tunes..."wake the town an tell the people" really did wake em, created a storm when first pressed...U Roy had 1,2, and 3 in the charts... The rest is history....

  • The first song is Cool Out Son by Junior Murvin, best known for the song Police And Thieves, a Lee Perry production. Cool Out Son is a version of the song Armageddon Time. Both Armageddon Time and Police And Thieves were covered by The Clash. Daddy Roy Rules!!

  • @skaska66 hey wasn't the first song Anarexol by Eek A mouse? Or did he just borrow the melody?

  • Nice one !

  • I grew up in jamaica in the late sixties and 70's and grew up listening to Uroy on the radio toasting. back then it was not called Rapping. Its a pity he is recognized by the American Music Industry for his contribution to RAP/HIP HOP. Anyway, so what? We have great music too and are happy to share it nevertheless.

  • I agree 100%...he was the first DJ/toastster to put lyrics on record. I had a disagreement with a American girl a few months back telling her that rapping today started in Jamaica. Bless

  • too true

  • Bless up

Remember Uroy coming over the UK airwaves in the 70s

    Respect

  • yeah, i totaly agree. Same with djing in early hip-hop. Dj-kool herc (from jamaica) origanly tryed to get people to toast over reggae records, but no one in the US listened to reggae, so he had to make breaks on soul records for people to rap on.

  • anyone know the tune just was finishing at the start of the vid

  • djrmonix, that tune was Cool Out Son by Junior Murvin.

    Happy hunting...

  • DJ Daddy - massive world of respect. Give thanks

  • big...... WHO?????? hahahhahahaha

  • daddy roy!!!!!! king of all djs dont ever put anyone in his class, all who dont know will never know, he started all toasting, rapping, and any other talking over tune, respect daddy roy, love you like cooked food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • u roy soh mandando na vibe... bom demais

  • "copying big moutain"...are you an idiot?

Daddy U-roy started dee-jaying even before those guys were even born...

  • ah thats too crucial

  • U-Roy is still rockin it!

  • whoever said "copying big moutain" needs to go to the school of reggae, what a prick!

  • YEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!! if i was only so lucky to see #1 dj of the J.a live...hugeups

  • copying big mountain

  • Let me school you. Daddy U Roy copies no one. He is the one being copied! He was singing/DJing when the members of Big Mountain were just cooing in their mothers' arms.

  • hahaha just to let you know these guys are CLASSIC reggae artists from the 70s... if you know your reggae that is. Im pretty sure big mountain is LATE LATE 80s if not early 90s, and they SUCK.

  • your a joker and know nothing about reggae music, dont ever talk dem rubbish again, in fact dont listen reggae music again, coz you dont know, coping big mountain you joker!!!!!!!!!
