  • Another great piece by Stravinsky. Haven't heard the actual orchestrated ballet though.

  • @TamirylAuvahn. Me. Sorry.

  • Who is the asshole who coughed in the middle of it

  • wrong

  • Been reading about McCartney playing a tune called "Petrushka" during his sound checks in Chicago recently, anyone know of this tune?

  • וואווו !!!

    סחטיין עלייך !!

  • Excellent!

  • Its like the piece cannot be played by a human... I just keep hearing mis-notes over and over, and it ruins the feeling of the music. someone should use a digital audio program to complete his music.

  • @SOSTacoJohnson

Digital Audio Programs have no musicality.

  • @looney1023 good thing you didn't just make an all-encompassing black and white statement about what will be the future of music creation and playing... Kinda... simple minded.

  • Brilliant

  • Too fast? Shut up and read the score, this is the tempo at which this movement is to be played.

  • Wonderful oh yes

  • too bad... i cannot enjoy what he's playing... >.<

  • !brilliant

  • People love to accuse players performing Stravinsky of playing too slow or too fast. :) The tempo here seems right to me!

  • This is the best rendition by the pianist I've ever heard! :) And in the right tempo, too. That's not easy. ;-)

  • Awesome. I`m learning this version of this piece right now, and I`m so happy to finally find a recording that ISN`T from Trois Movements de Petrouchka.

Great performance, thanks for putting this up. c:

  • shreddin!

  • this piece is SOOOOOOOOO HARD you cant imagine how hard it is!!!!!!! this guy does a really good job but its still too fast for him because he cant control the dynamics, which is very important for this piece. it must be played "easier" and more soft. only few pianists can do that and play this terribly difficult piece very well.

  • this is a re-arranged version of the original.. it is a highly technical piece meant to show off skill, it would be nonsense if THIS version is meant to express the w,e, dance-like feeling, yes, it should sound like a race, as fast as possible, as accurate as possible...

  • Hey look, another youtube commentator who has no idea what they're talking about, what a surprise.

This piece, Trois Movements Petrushka, is a seperate composition by Stravinsky dedicated to Artur Rubinstein. It is different from the original Petrushka in many, many ways and cannot be called an arrangement or a transcription. Check around before you post a comment strongly claiming things. This is not a re-arrangement, oh, and the pianist here plays only the 1st of three movements.

  • looks like either the piano guy is a total egocentric asshole running of stage like that, or he had to take a shit really fast.

  • •• Almost There!!

•• But YUJA WANG Is The Best!!

  • right!

  • as good as Yuja ! But for the recording sound...thats it...

  • @POPYLOLY8 i would have to dissagree, Yuja is technically better, but this performance conveys the mood and the initial intention of the piece in much more vivid colours

  • Yes, this is Stravinsky's own arrangement of the ballet out of three movements. The young pianist is playing it to fast and it is supposed to be a dance not a race to the finish and notice it is all the same dynamic. He has to learn through experience the musicality of Stravinsky.

  • Tell me about it. Stravinsky meant for the first line to be dance-like, but he's interpreting it as too fast and technical. The technicality of Stravinsky is implied, not to be shown off.

  • Straweenie

  • I agree, the tempo is perfect. Is this Stravinsky's own arrangement/reduction? It originally for piano and orchestra, correct?

    Sounds amazing, regardless! Great work!

  • *it was originally.

  • It's originally for just orchestra (it's a ballet)

I'm not sure if this is Stravinsky's own arrangement...that'd be good to know though :)

    Great job too, piano guy!

  • Too fast? No, this is the proper tempo for this movement. Excellent playing, too!

  • damn ... too fast ... i can't play like that =P

  • ei the music really is fast.....

and the hands REALLY is fast :O

  • bravissimo

  • what hands !!!

  • This is waaay too fast. But still a good performance,

  • Bravo!

  • this is such an amazing piece of music. Played very well, but a little fast for my taste.

Someone said it was total chaos. It has those elements, but that's a good thing. Stravinsky - what a composer.

X factor! You hear this tune then it's in your head for weeks. That's the test

  • VERY nice! Excelante! but boy he couldn't get off the stage fast enough! haha oh well. It's NOT total chaos, it's amazing if you listen to the orchestration before this, you will hear the themes being played underneath themes, it's quite magical. Bravo, chap!

  • Total Chaos...(that's not to diminish your playing (which is splendid I'm sure) but I think Stravinsky is bloody overrated.

  • 이거 실제로 보면 졸라뻑가여!!!!!!!!

    내 칭구가 쳐줫는데 ㅜㅜ 우메

  • Beast.

  • BRAVO!!! How long do you think he learned how to play this? i'm starting on it but i'm stuck on the first 2 pages T_T but i have 6 more months to learn it for a graduation concert =D

Messed up just a little bit in the FCG# key change, but recovered really well!

  • wow!!!

    he plays it very fast!

    actually too fast.

    but great performance!

  • he's too fast. he should have slowed it a little bit down to make it sound better but other than that it's great.

  • Bravo!

  • i love this music

  • Bravo!

  • thanks for this video.. ;)

  • VERY Impressive!

  • impressive. good job

  • bravo lahav!! :-)
