OMG i cant wait to see it actually flying, man, i cant imagine if they make an air support variant like the AC130 gunship, imagine the amount of fire power it could unleash with its current payload capability...oh man oh man
If you want a real screw up get us Europeans to build it. What a complete and utter mess. By the time this tub actually works it will cost 150 m per unit at least. TOTAL waste of money and time.
Well its creates jobs at least plus the American have had programs with shitloads of problems too. Futhermore if you create your own military hardware you are more free to operate, since otherwise you could be cut off with spareparts.
this plane will do what the hercules can't do like airborne a complete mechanised unit by example with all CV90 version include 120 tank instead of MBT (you need c17 to airborn MBT), nh90 helicopters and british apache longbow (more powerfull than the US and the tiger) ..etc..for gunship it 's better to wait the V44, a quad tilt rotor. type V44, there's a video.
I can beleive my country (canada) purschase C-130J "Super Hercule"...we need strategic and tactic airlift and the A400M can doing the same thing like the C-17 (strategic) and same from C-130J (tactical) in one for cheaper price than the C-17 and new aircraft with awesome 10,000 HP engine ,that made this aircraft awesome much more than a 40years old aircraft who can't doing go job for tactical airlift (C-130J ,about the quality/price this aircraft sucks).
Well, now they are saying that A400M "may need massive re-engineering work to achieve its performance targets." and it's already three years late. So C-130J is not that bad choice.
Some european countries already fly the C-130J's.And some older models. Also we fly the C-160.The RAF flies the C-17. But I dont think that the US would ever buy A400's.
It's entirely irrelevant. The A400M is a good enough plane to stand on its own, and fills a different niche than the C-130J; the comparisons above are no different than someone lining up the A400M's stats against the C-17s.
Oh, 140 million euro for a C-17, 100 million euro for an A400M, and 45 million euro for a C-130J. Europe should push strongly for the U.S. to buy a few A400M's in reciprocation for a NATO purchase of C-130J's.
A400 is ways better than the C-130J!! A400 Payload: 82,000lb C-130J payload: 42,000lb ------------------------ A400 Range: 5,022nmi C-130J range: 2,835nmi ------------------------ The Max Takeoff Weight for the C-130J is 70.3tons. The A400's Weight (empty) 70.0tons. A400's Max Takeoff weight: 141.0tons. I cant wait to see the Cockpit of the A400! Way to go Europe!!!
what else would nato have purchased? this plane as with all bloody european aircraft projects is so late the raf will prob have to lease more c130s to fill the gap, thats if this new all singing all dancing plane does what airbus say it will. the us produce top class transporters, why should they waste thier time with a euro box that cant even fly yet. Long live the c130!!
Europe is considering Commercialising its logistics for its millitary/Peace keeping operations. Look on the European Defence Agency website. `Commecialising logistics`. You dont always need to use millitary transport. You can make good use of private companys to ferry millitary equipment around. Like companys that operate Antonovs.
I'll like the A400M, but, I'm still GO for the C-130 ,why? because it's the Only transport plane available to my Country's Air Force, The A400M is just a dream for us cause it will pump funds before we can get it.

Europe still wasting billons of taxpayer dollars to reinvent the C-130? Give me a break this thing just like the A380 is over budget and behind schedule but no matter since the euro socialists will keep pumping money into airbus.
Oh please, I enter cockpit C-130 once and found out that it wasn't a glass cockpit aircraft at all after some major modification. Airbus A400M is more than C-130. It has glass cockpit, more range, less fuel consume than C-130, more payload and more function. It is time to look forward not backward.

The USAF and RAF use the C-130J and C-17 duo. The C-130J does infact have a glass cockpit, it is the latest development of the classic C-130. The C-130J is for intra-theater operations and the C-17 is inter-theater. This A400M isn't about "looking to the future" it's about trying to compete with US companies.
The C-130J are still old design and small number in USAF. How did USAF are buying Airbus KC-30 base on A330 are foreign airplane and the air force one are also buying Airbus A380-800 to replane old B747..

No they are not. The USAF is going to use the Boeing KC-767 for a tanker to replace older KC-135s. And no, the USAF is not seriously considering the A380 to replace it's 747s.
The C-130Js are brand new. The overall airframe desgin is the same with a few modifications but so what new doesn't always mean better. The old USS Enterprise is far better than the new French carrier Charles du Gaulle.
Would the US call a NATO allies foreign. Germany doesnt mind having C5 Galaxys on its soil. Im sure the US wouldnt mind having a few A400Ms built by one of its allies. Any other non-NATO nation I would call foreign.
Wow looks like a C-130 got lucky with a C-17 and the A400M was born. Its a good replacement for the C-130. Sucks that USA wont buy it because it can't lift an M1 tank like the C-17. I say turn it into a gunship lol.
And no it doesnt look like the c17, the c17 is jet, this is turboprop, and its a competetor, and its quieter, if i was in charge of an air force organisation when it comes to cargo. id go airbus. and its funny how some of the airbus haters come on airbus videos and start badmouthing them, wow, pathetic attempt to make airbus look bad, they shuld get a life, yet itd be hard for them cuz of their anti-european ignorance.
Airbus have style, theyre awsome, shame everyones attacking them about the a380, same thing happened to boeing about the 747, jesus not only that airbus and boeing r practically the same just airbus has better space and seats. GO AIRBUS!

I cn't comment for the French or German's but I can't believe the R.A.F. are still going to buy this, for the same money as the A400 m buy we could have got twenty C-17's, twice the lift capacity and some true global reach, the only reason is political, keeping BAE in money, while denying the air force the best equipment.
Copy of a c-17... how sad.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we always want to build new aeroplanes?
(3) Why do we think that working together is so improtant for building and designing an aeroplane?
(4) Why does a culture of diversity so important for the designing process of new aeroplane?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

It is hardly a rework of the C-130... 37 tons of payload, that is a completely different ballgame
