I love this, David!! I'll be putting this up on my page Wednesday or Thursday :) Happy Valentine's week!! And thanks for the really kind words...I guess 'Trouble' is my middle name...lol!
5stars dude your bad to the bone,,,i'm not even in the same ball park with you,,i dream like that but i cant play like that smiling big smiles,,i love buddy he makes me feel good,,so does your music,,bry
Glad you like my music! I get my guitar style from listening to great guitar players like Jacqueline Mannering, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, and Eric Clapton. Others, too. I am so glad you liked this, thanks for watching!
btw...I got a great deal on that guitar...and it sounded terrific in the store....so I thought, "Ok, for this price and this sound, I can overlook the Pepto Bismol color and the "Hello Kitty" sticker (it's off the guitar now!)"...and it has turned out to be a good, useful guitar. It's really, really comfortable to play.
I'm glad you liked this. I wanted to sing a "blues" tune about something that wasn't bad, or negative, so I basically tried these lyrics, and they seemed to fit the shuffle.
I am so flattered that you said this reminds you of Bo Diddley. That is so cool! I can kinda see where you're coming from, I like to sort of get in the pocket and chug along like that, too.
Bo was one of the few celebrities that I actually, personally got to meet. Bo was a little defensive and tough, but really approachable once you got to know him. I met him at a club. He was actually allowing fans to come up and bring things for him to sign. That was really cool. I'll always remember that.
So are you. You play with a lot of feeling and technique, and you tell the truth with your fingers. That is pretty much unbeatable, if you ask me. Keep up the great work....
Thank you so much for taking time to check this out. I had hoped to use that rhythm lick for something and this is what it turned out to be. Thanks again for listening!
Thank you! I like to throw in my jazz and blues influences in every now and then and throw in homage to great players like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jacqueline92, Albert King, and Jimi Hendrix. I liked how the words just fit in this tune.
Kitty has gotten a lot better looking since I managed to get all the 'Hello Kitty" stickers off! Thanks for the compliment.
It's funny...I started with Fender guitars and amps..then I tried other brands of guitars and amps...but something was always missing..that Fender punch and open-back sound I always liked. That's where I get a lot of my sound from...that and THICK guitar picks! Thanks again, man!
I'm not exactly where I want to be with either, but I feel pretty good about what I've accomplished up to this point...and best of all, I'm having a great time, having total freedom to perform the music I love.
lol, yeah man, the joke was great for a laugh at first, but the decals were just a bit much after awhile. I took a look at it and thought, "Nothing against the Hello Kitty character, but this guitar is making me wanna gag!" hahahaha
Nice shiny glow? Yeah, hahaha, that's 3M auto glaze. Thanks!
I had been toying around with that rhythm for about a week and the lyrics appeared to me last Sunday night....in fact, just a couple of hours before I recorded this...sound like somebody we know?
Not only brilliant, but very infectious David. This truly got under my skin real fast, found myself rockin' back and forth while typing these words, and definitely will add this to my fav's. My friend, anyone that doesn't hang on to this wonderful 4 minute and 20 seconds of pure heartfelt playing and singing, is just losing out if you ask me. THIS WAS DELICIOUSLY GREAT!!!!! Mark
Thank you so much for noticing that! I just loved Stevie Ray's playing to death, it's an honor that someone noticed!! There's a lot of my SRV influence in it, with a little bit of my Jacqueline92 influence on the speed picking/shred...and my jazzy stuff is pretty much all me. Thank you so much, I am so honored.
I love the sweet, bluesy sound you get, too, like...I like to hear a guitar sing in a player's hands sometimes. You and Jacqueline92 are great about that, so are so many of the newer players....too many good ones to mention here....
Thanks...you and Stevie Ray inspired both this tune and my rockin' one ("I Used to Live in Your World"). Learning from you both has made me able to do a lot more than I ever thought I could. What I've learned from you two is all over this!
Before I watched you play, I could never really get speed-picking down...it always sounded really choppy and forced. Once I saw how you did it, it made that stuff a lot easier for me.
To be as talented as you are, you're still really nice and a cool person. You're a professional, and I really respect you.
Yeah, songs have a life of their own...somebody told me that they couldn't believe "Cozy Prison" took <10 minutes to write, but it really did...I think I had it done in about 7. Yeah, they just fall out of a person, don't they?
This guitar has grown on me. At first I bought it just for sheer cheapness and comedy value...now I've kinda got attached to Kitty. She really knows how to hiss and growl! Thanks for your comment! Stay awesome!
I am so glad to hear that! I really enjoy singing the vocal but I will be the first to admit that I'm no Vince Gill, Fabian. That really makes me feel good to hear that- about the voice and the guitar! Thank you so much!
Yeah, "Kitty" used to be a Hello Kitty guitar until I took the Kitty sticker off. Glad you liked both (the song and the guitar...I got the guitar unbelievably cheap, btw!)
I love this, David!! I'll be putting this up on my page Wednesday or Thursday :) Happy Valentine's week!! And thanks for the really kind words...I guess 'Trouble' is my middle name...lol!

Hey David... you KNOW I love bluesy stuff so suuuuure I love your new song!! Good deal.
