    You can use these to "ease" your way into them. If you can't already do them then stretching your way into them is the way to go. You can achieve a split in... 3 months, if you really want to, but you have to stretch every day doing 10-20 minutes worth 2 times a day, or just doing what I do and stretching during a tv show and switching, resting during commercials.

  • @Ellusionist022 Obv dont go like this in one day - otherwise you will rip your muscles and cause damage. However if you practice for 20 min a day, within 3 months you should be able to do it. Its begginer becuase 3 months is a relatively short time in comparision to the time it takes to to advanced things which can take up to 20 years.

    years? lol when i did Taekwon do it took me 1 month to achieve perfectly, i stopped for 5years and forgot everythings, i cant even kick over ma head anymore.. so im going back to taekwon do in 2weeks woohoo

  • @VisibleGaming It can take years, depending on your age and starting flexibility, past injuries and quite a lot of other factors as-well. I finally got back to being able to do full splits 5 months ago, and then managed to injure my hamstring 3 months ago while getting shopping out the back of the car, so I'm back to where I started now nigh on, but slowly getting back into it again.

  • @197922007 This was called "beginner's Wushu techniques" not "Beginner's Stretch Class" Honestly,if you didn't know that was going to tear your muscles if you don't warm up or have that ability I don't think you should be looking at these videos or paid attention in bio. Physical training is ALL considered beginner's techniques for martial arts. Splits are one of them.

    But I agree with you that she didn't mention that splits can be dangerous for people who have not tried it before and for you.

  • @197922007 this is not for beginners lol its very difficult to stretch like that.try to do what she does on 0:23 and then then in the same position lift the heel and then touch with your right elbow on the floor and then your head touch in your foot.all of that without touching with your right knee on the floor.also try to make a 90 degree angle with your left leg allays and try to time every position.then do the same with the other leg.I think that is more beginner than that :P hope it helps

    if you do the split and stay like that its not good

  • Well train your flexibility before starting. It no good to try complex movement you know you canot posibly do.

  • @looneysolidsnake That acutally is I believe, just that you have to build up to that by actually trying the stretch at your own pace; like how you actually start the hamstring stretch (reaching down to the ground while standing, legs-locked) but you obviously go at your own pace and reach as far as you can till you can finally reach the ground (unless you're already flexible enough at the beginning).

  • @looneysolidsnake actually it is.. but that doesn't mean you'll be able to do that from day 1. I myself am a beginner and with a lot of practice I am just getting there with split stretches

  • @looneysolidsnake Yes, that's for beginners man. Based on my experience as a wushu student, you are not forced to split perfectly. Instead, you are told do splits just up to the level where you can just actually do it. Time and time, your laoshi (wushu teacher) will push your split down, enabling you to reach a little bit lower. And as you do that your muscle stretches and sooner or later, you'll get the perfect split. :)

  • everyone always says 'no bouncing' when you stretch, WHY is it just bad because it causes you to over stretch?? and why is she bouncing if it is wrong?

  • It is bad to bounce because you can over exert easily...but I am sure she is conditioned to handle it.

  • Everyone in the west says not to bounce but then you rarely see someone here with as much flexibilty to touch their nose off of their toe(alot of people dont even believe its possible). In China they always bounced and occationaly tear the muscle in their legs. Its extremely painful but when it heals its longer than before. I think bouncing is ok as long as your in control of it. Know your own limits

    but all for experimented, so what for ?

    I think it will be more interesting providing advices to real beginner in oder to progressivly split, An may be indicating time about to achieve each stage and to split.

    I've heard about a mounth to split, but probably from experimented young girl.

    A close adult friend say me about a year to do it.

  • This is for advance ppl.

  • I think the beginners title for those who are confused is because these stretchs are basic things that wushu needs. As with many types of martial arts, Chinese Wushu stresses foundation first. Once these stretchs "beginner" exercises are done perfectly, all the other more "advanced" techniques become easier. Wushu speed if you have seen it is lightening fast and its thanks to the flexibility and technique that wushu needs.

  • haha, this is for beginers in a school where they expect you to be able to do a split when you walk in the door lol. but not if you're just starting wushu with no experience. which is usualy the case.

  • this is one of the beginning techniques as well as one of the hardest O_O However, once u've mastered this, u can do LOTS of kicking techniques.
