Yes it does. You can't speak on something you know nothing about. You're trying to tell me ONE performance by Phish 11 years ago, is "better" than every single one of the 300+ times the Dead performed it. You do realize how ignorant and absurd that sounds right?

Phish wins by default. Now any performance of that song comes off sounding inadequate by comparison. In a way, Phish ruined the song for everyone with their utter awesomeness. It's the Messiah of Dead covers. All other performances fall far short.

If you ask me, Dead claims superiority over Phish mainly because they WROTE THE DANG SONG TO BEGIN WITH :-P Phish might have wrote a great rendering, but the Dead had the spark of genius first, all Phish can do is try to emulate it.
