@fanaticastype NAHH, JUST A CRACKHEAD NIGGER...PROBABLY PLANS TO ROB B&O OF THEIR SPEAKERS AND SELL IT OFF DIRT CHEAP ON EBAY..TYPICAL NIGGER ON CRACK...
b&o is made in Denmark all my family have this b&o, they gave 13.000 dkk for each speaker (beolab 4000) its around 5000 dollers. never buy b&o theres no bass no mids og higts its like go to "best buy" and buy a speker for 100 dollers. Dali is mucj better
Hello all b&o enthusiasts. This is quite a mixed bag of opinions on B&O equipment. All i will say is I have a 3500 system with beovox red line 60 speakers from 1989 and to this day is still sounding as good as ever. To me the sound quality is still awesome and i have yet to hear anything that is as good.
@tkandme3 Not sure why you are trolling everyone's comments, but as someone who grew up in an all-Bose household, I know they're not awful. Still, in just about all respects, B&O is better. They have less smear, greater low-end extension, greater high-end extension, better midrange articulation, more immersive soundstage (how well you can imagine the location of sounds, better dynamics (how well they distinguish between loud sounds from quiet ones), better aesthetics, and more prestige.
As much as I HATE the Bose sound quality, it pains me to read people dinging them on the basis of having paper cones in their speakers. Many mid-fi and even bonified hi-fi drivers feature nothing other than treated paper cones--and manage to keep up with or even best drivers made with Nomex, titanium, Rohacell, ceramic, carbon fiber or any the other exotic cone materials used out there...
@catmarauder Paper cones rule. Their stiffness to weight ratio is unsurpassed and thus make them more responsive. Companies turn to other materials because they are more durable and marketable. Ooh, carbon fiber!!, etc. Paper has and always will rule.
@bottomfeeder73 I'm not sure if you are criticizing or supporting me... In my comment I did come out and say that many bonified high end companies use paper cones. I was deferring to the legitimacy those companies have built up for themselves in making consistently, widely enjoyed products. I don't like paper, but that's because I like a much cleaner, more dynamic sound than paper offers. Their stiffness to weight is great, but ultimate stiffness? If you were trying to back me up, then thanks...
2 Very, very high build quality (i got stuff my father bought when he was my age and they still sound amazing and look like they came from a time machine)
3 Sound quality is insane.I 've listened to systems that cost 3 times as much and could not spot the difference really,no distortion audible
4 To even compare BOSE with their paper and plastic speakers to B&O Iis absurd
@rounick I agree, I have a system that is OLD & a new one... BUT... Their speakers are absolutely unforgiving on recordings that are not top notch. Had other systems - pre amp/amp great speakers & they don't seem to suffer this problem as much.. but then again B&O is art as well, and lasts FOREVER...
B&O looks good but ive heard it and for the price tag its the same sort of thing like BOSE you are paying for the brand and i rather buy cheap old school equipment and make an awesome system from selective components not just someone putting it all together for you in one box. That is not the experience of the audio world its a journey of music and making your own setup
I've heard a Bang and Olufsen micro system and damn it was expensive (£2000)and damn it sounded clear! I couldn't really get a good impression from a low volume shop demo though.
5,000 watts seems like an enormous amount of power for those speakers (unless they were the size of Daleks!!) - that's more power than most concert woofers can handle. I wonder what the efficiency is like.
what is great about these B&O systems is they are so attractive I would love to own even a very old B&O system from the 1980,s or 1990,s they are design items as well as good for sound.
they have gone ental with the designs and prices sheesh ... my dad had a B&O deck/amp/speaker in the 70's when I was growing up and my god did that kick start my interest in audio .
Listen all you fools, you are missing the point. B&O stuff is functional art, instead of boring UGLY components and speakers. I have been converted a few years ago from other high end stuff and have been really happy with their stuff, & IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER!!! STYLIN'!!
Bang en olufsen is no Art... It is charlatanism.....

They aren't that bad but they just dont compare to other makes such as B&O or onkyo. and yes i know their speakers are used in audi, although only in a6 as all the other models use B&O. and just because i've got an opinion doesn't make me a retard, does it?
what you say about the 'lab 8000 being cold and lifeless is very true (at least i think so) but add them with B&O's sub and they make a good pair of speakers. B&O shouldn't be seen as speakers for audiophiles but if design is important too, B&O is worth almost every penny as they will always look good
@falkenlaser actually Goldmund is the high end Bose!! Have you seen the Million Dollar audio room, and some of their amplifiers cost almost as much as a small house!!
That brand Goldmund is ridiculous, and have recently found out to be a phony. Google "Goldmund Pioneer," and go to the first hit (head-fi). It shows pictures of their $6000 DVD player taken apart, and it appears it uses the same circuit boards as a $200 Pioneer DVD player (which they also have taken apart).
Sounds like something Bose would do. So yes, you could almost say Goldmund is the high-end Bose.
And the people that unfortunately fall for their marketing tricks. Check out my two videos that show what you can get for the price of the Lifestyle 48. It's amazing.
Also, good looking doesn't mean good, when you watch a film, do you watch the speaker, or the TV, I watch the TV, and use my ears to listen to the speakers!
I don't mean to be rude, but people who own B&O don't do there research, yes they do sound good, but companies like B&W, Kef, Wilson Audio is much cheaper, and much better, although, they are more ugly! Is it me, or most people who own B&O are homo-sexuals?

I have. I have also heard speakers costing much less, and MUCH more. B&O is not regarded as good by audiophiles; it is by people who want the looks and the name. I've heard the Lab 8000s and 3s, and I've heard a $300 pair of speakers that are better. The Lab5s are probably about $8K worth of speaker; a system costing the same including speakers, amps, and subs would beat it. And, I have heard some speakers that were $50K a pair powered by nearly $10K worth of amps. They freaking crush the Lab5s.
Im a fellow audiophile, while you may like others better, Bang & Olufsen are regarded as good even among some audiophiles! Please get your facts straight! I also enjoy B&W, Legacy Audio, Vandersteen, Dynaudio, Wilson, Martin Logan, and others, but dont slam other peoples speaker choices. I like the legacy Audio Focus 20/20's best(and own 2 pairs!), others may differ. grow up man!
Ayre Acoustics huh? A guy I know owns one of their amps.
I should have noted I do own B&O's A8 earphones, which are quite good. I love the way they fit, and not to mention they don't sound too bad; they could have a little more bass, though.
But, and although I'm sure there are exceptions, B&O, just like Bose, both as a whole have not been respected by audiophiles from what I hear and read. B&O used to be good, but when they got their own stores like Bose did, they really went down hill.
Without B&O's there would be no current mirage speakers. Im not a Mirage fan, but without B&o's, they wouldnt have the technology with there top cup despersion tweeters. While, we both probably agree Mirage isnt the best, they have sold many speakers with this setup, all thanks to B&o's.
I really think those "Acousic Lenses" are more of an aesthetic feature. They're supposed to "spread the sweet spot," and although this probably works to an extent with the Lab 5s, I don't think the 9s, 3s, and 7-4 really benefit from their ACL tweeter since only the highs are being dispersed. I could even tell there was a sweet spot when I listened to the Lab 3 because it has a 4 in. midbass driver.
I will give it to be B&O for making the coolest-looking speakers out there, though.
@VolvoEP thanks i dont buy and listen much of those digitized music source.. but i bought this item on ebay ( item number : 280667981486) .. i care more how it sounds that how it looks... not like those penis-wise paying attention on "cool" looking thing..(sorry i mean penny wise..)
its worth it period it it is good, which it is I am too poor to own anything that costs above $200.00 I need a job becuase an SSI check isnt enough for my Hifi Hunger!
Actually, B&O is not regarded as hi-fi by crazy audiophiles. B&O's speakers are more about looks and prestige, and people that are into both of those things are the people that think B&O is worth it.
B&O isn't anywhere near as expensive as many of the audio brands serious audiophiles go for. Brands like Wilson, Krell, and Meridian's speakers average around $20,000-$50,000 a pair, and as high as $150,000!
i ll take 4 of those..but try to smell my 28yr old butthole 1st

They're supposed to "spread the sweet spot," and although this probably works to an extent with the Lab 5s, I don't think the 9s, 3s, and 7-4 really benefit from their ACL tweeter since only the highs are being dispersed. I could even tell there was a sweet spot when I listened to the Lab 3 because it has a 4 in. midbass driver.
I will give it to be B&O for making the coolest-looking speakers out there, though.
