  • It's incredible how an earthquake can be so powerful as to cause disasters over a large area of the world over the course of a few days. I remember watching the news in March, tsunami after tsunami, all over the Pacific region, volcanic eruptions everywhere, even an avalanche in Canada. It was like something out of a disaster film. I really feel for everybody who was affected by the disaster, wherever in the world they're from.

  • Tsunami?

  • Poor seagull :(

  • I was waiting for a Tsunami to hit, but all i saw was high tide.

  • it was about the same here in the kapiti coast

  • @zipper532 Interesting, I thought that Aussi, New Guinnea and French Polunesia would shelter us from most of the effects but I was wrong. The volume of water was huge and caused the channel to run at approx 12 knots which is large.

  • Guess you don't like Auckland or New Zealand - where are you from? I put the vid up so that people could see how the effects were felt on the other side of the world, in case you don't understand the Tsunami has shocking power if you live near any Pacific Coast you may wish to take heed of the risk

  • let me know when it flows over the roads and hits auckland city.. and covers the whole of new zealand.

  • @dkingjimmy it already flowed over the roads and hit a-city but it wasn't water...it was another of those filthy inorganic rubbish collections

  • wow this just shows how far the japan Tsunami reached

  • never seen the water hit those rocks that hard before

  • all shit, I was fishing on a boat in the coromandel for the pirst time and there was some unusual surges but no tsunami waves lol

  • @5T34LTH5K3

You are quite correct out at sea the effects were minimal, I too was on the water once the Police would let us out of the marina and the surges later were hardly felt.

  • WOAH! Did anybody get hurt???

  • @mentalboy9

No but it was a demonstration of natures power.

  • Funny how small they are, That's not even a tsunami, Because a Tsunami is like a wall of water.

  • @WorldOfStealthcraft Obviously you know nothing about tsunami's, just before this video was shot the water went way out then the waves continued to arrive building to this footage. The area you see these waves in is usually dry land the highest tides are about 3.4 meters lower than this.

The waves at the wharf are purely the current caused by the sudden rush of water. The police had the beaches closed this was the real thing, obviously much smaller than the wave caused 12,000 miles away.

  • @LuvMyBoat1 I wasn't even trying to insult you. I was just joking around about the seagull part. I NEVER said that the tsunami didn't hit New Zealand or your video was fake. I'm not like those other ppl who commented here before(like WorldofStealthcraft).

And FYI, I do know A LOT about outside. I don't even own a freaking PS3 shit. So next time take a deep breath and chill out then think about what people say before you slam at everyone like that. I actually liked your video. Gosh.

  • @Blueknightex No Worries got so much shit about it I decided that only morons existed on youtube, I will take you off the list. We are pretty freaked out about earhtquakes and Tsunami's in New Zealand at the moment, thanks for the comment.

    Ciao

  • @WorldOfStealthcraft tsunami is the actual event. The waves are tidal waves or tidal surges.

  • mint waves to surf on

  • double wow

how long after the earth quake did this surge hit NZ?

  • @mattie9481 This was 11am and the first waves hit New Zealand about 0630, the surges continued until about 2.30pm.

  • double wow

  • wow
